Those were the days, when 30,000 people in the stands at Yonkers and Roosevelt was a slow night!

I watch these old races and all I can see is Stanley Dancer beating the shit out of every horse he drives - and putting wheels under people.

All very competitive races. Not much sitting in. The last one (messenger) was crazy, with horses three and four wide coming to the half----and only a six horse race! You certainly got your money's worth in these races, no matter who you bet.

Dancer was a great trainer, but just an average driver. Most happy fella won the messenger in spite of dancer. A truly great horse.

Imagine if Columbia George would have had a real driver.

I wish they would have had more battles..and no doubt throw Ralph Hanover and On the Road Again into those races..

Of course I watched all those races live and knew most of the drivers and everyone at Greenwood got to see me play pinball for free at the racetrack and across the street at the Orchard Park Tavern for free.

It was my idea to name some of the streets in Stouffville, Ontario Canada after Cam Fella and Norm Faulkner. I tried to talk old Harvey Madgett out of selling Cam Fella for $50,000 Canadian when he was just a two year old. Harvey wasn't too bright.

Incredible fields and some aggressive driving by the great Stanley! This is when harness racing was worth watching. Today's product is awful..
