The taxes are very low. If they improve the roads your taxes will go up to pay for it. The people of SC have very good manners. A little bit of manners goes a long way. I lived in Charleston for 10 years, I'm also in South Florida. You are correct on the mannerisms of the people in South Florida. One thing I will conclude to that being is the diversity of the people down here who come from all paths and upbringings in life. If you want to experience the human race in a concentrated metropolitan area... you'll find it here. Southern hospitality DOES NOT exist here.

One place being hotter than the other doesn't discredit the heat of the other place. The same rule applies to everything. Say its -10 degrees in NYC. Thats very cold. Just because you live in canada and once it was -45 degrees doesn't mean -10 isnt cold. Im sure if one day in Phoenix it was 20 degrees you would all panic and be shocked, because your not used to that weather

I've lived here in South Carolina my entire life. #10 No one has EVER heard of that law or used it. #9 We have EVERY kind of BBQ sauce. I like them all but my favorite is actually ketchup based. We also have GREAT mustard based. #8 Everywhere in the south is hot, also everywhere has AC #7 Yeah we have alot of tourist, especially here in Charleston (just like every other major city). #6 Alligators are in every southern, coastal state. Also they are more scared of you than you are of them #5 Roads are just fine. I have 22 inch rims on my car and have never had an issue. Also you can fill out a form if something does happen and the state will pay for your tire, rims, suspension, etc.(so it's not your problem). #4 Income taxes do suck, but everyone pays them unless you live in Texas. #3 I have a 2 story house and pay 175 (on average) on utilities, year round (I'm sure that is nothing compared to what northerns pay) #2 South Carolina has some of the best private schools #1 Here in Charleston it is growing, but the population of the city I moved from is drastically decreasing. So again, just like everywhere else. Conclusion- this guy just wanted to make a video and did so on a subject he knows nothing about🤷🏼‍♂️

I live here - born and raised in SC - I lived in the Upstate the majority of my life. Moved to the coast to be near the beach. Ten years ago, it was heaven being here. I am amazed at how much change has taken place in the full 12 years we have lived here. Crowds and construction have exploded. Traffic is horrible. You almost get mobbed in stores they are so crowded. Forget about getting into a restaurant around here during the summer months. Actually the roads are better here than they were in the Upstate. The biggest change is the crowding, the amount of new construction, increased traffic, and the inherent crime increase associated with being a tourist area where every transient soul has a dream of moving here and making it big. Low paying jobs and businesses cannot keep employees so service issues are bad. I love being near the beach enough to put up with all of this, but as an inside observer, it sure ain't what it used to be.

I've lived in Greenville SC for 21 years. Probably the most accurate thing is the roads are bad but they're fixing them slowly at least. The public schools are better in the upstate generally. We also have good collages in the state like Clemson, USC, Furman, wofford etc. Greenville is expanding so fast there's a new building every time I go downtown but it's exciting. Charleston is fun but expensive to live there I've heard. We have mountains and beach in a 3 hour drive. Takes me about 2 hours to Atlanta or Charlotte.

Run down trailer parks...broke down cars in the driveway with garbage cans overflowing with 5 black baby mama lounging around the pig sty and 10 kids running around in all that filth...minimarts with bars on the windows and doors...EBT and cheap cigarette signs everywhere...OVERPRICED EVERYTHING...heavy traffic everywhere...don’t worry...I won’t be back...it was a total let down!!! I second the road quality complaints. They are absolutely awful and I’m always on high alert with my tires. Drive into South Carolina from Georgia through one of the three major interstates, and the difference is noticeable immediately upon crossing the Savannah River. And yes, rush hour traffic in the three major cities (Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston) can get ugly.

FunFact Lister No state is perfect. Every state has it's good points and bad points. Roads can be bad in areas and other roads seem to be under perpetual construction. Just like other states, commutes into and out of large cities can be long and frustrating and the Lowcountry (which is exploding due to Boeing and Volvo and their associated subcontractors moving into the area) is becoming increasingly congested and expensive. I'm a native South Carolinian from Charleston but living in the Columbia area. I would one day like to move back down to Charleston but I honestly don't see that happening.

As a 30+ year local of Myrtle Beach, it's not as bad as the video makes it out to be. In fact, I just bought a new house here. I do agree that it is getting too crowded with tourists though. When I went to grade school, there were really no tourists or attractions here to speak of. I still don't get why it's so popular now. There's not really a whole lot here, just the beach of course then everyone goes to Broadway at the Beach. I haven't even gone to the beach in over 3 years. 99 degrees was not the average temperature this year. It was in the low to mid 90's I'd say with high humidity most days. Cost of electricity is 10 cents per kw/h so not really that bad. Now I think a good reason to move here is the cost of living. You can get a comparable house down here for probably half of what it would cost you up north. So if you were lucky enough to grow up in the north, then you can buy a really nice house down here. It's a struggle to get something really nice if you were born here though.

Everything in NC (in general- not comparing cheapest towns in NC v. most expensive towns in SC of course) is more expensive than in SC. Cost of living, housing, taxes, cars, schooling, groceries, gasoline... the list goes on and on. If your an allergy sufferer, I would say it s a great place to relocate. Just visited LA and loved it too, but I still love the Atlantic for its warm waters.

when me and my family went to myrtle beach SC for 2 days, we were greeted by shops with inappropriate items, dirty fast food stops, gangs, packed beach, and people driving motor cycles and golf cars on the wrong side of the road from the rental area. and it is very comment to hear people blasting inappropriate, non family friendly music from their cars. i would recommend topsail or other beaches that are quieter.

That's because we like to give myrtle beach to the tourists. I was born and raised in SC, and I can tell you for a fact that no one in their right mind should go to myrtle. It's a damn tourist trap.

Have you heard about the skaneah,. ? A wolf like , lion sized creature , who lets out a loud screech in the dead of night or when he’s hunting? He wears a wolf skull upon his head, scruffy, black, mainline hair on his neck, and several pieces of fur from deer and such. Sometimes I can hear him screeching from across the lake, it sound a little bit like a woman screaming but also like a screech of a wild, angry, bird. If you see him, RUN, he *WILL* kill you if he can. He is known as a very unpopular “legend” of Columbia, cannot be found on google, he is real, I have seen him. Be careful

My wife and I are North Carolina residents that owned a condo in Myrtle Beach for nearly 8 years. Originally being from Central New York, I found the climate and South Carolina's coastal plain ecosystems to be remarkable. It was also interesting with the alligators. At MB there were several in the golf course ponds in our community. When I was kid, the only time you saw an alligator was at the Syracuse Zoo. It really was quite an experience to view them in their natural environment. In my opinion, Myrtle Beach is a beautiful, classy and affordable place; however, it was becoming more and more congested and the traffic could be a headache at times. Nonetheless, even though it is mentioned in the video that overpopulation is happening in South Carolina, I certainly didn't see it in my travels to Myrtle Beach from the Metropolitan Raleigh Area. I'm not arguing with the statistics but it seemed to me that until you got to Conway on US 501, there was an awful lot of open country. We ultimately sold our property there due to the driving distance and hurricanes that seemed to be more frequent.

Yep, the alligator on the golf course... been there, done that at Wescott Golf Course in North Charleston. There he was, 10 feet off the tee box just sunning and enjoying himself. Also, the state tax is great fun when you get a mailer from the state that says the treasury has been hacked and you've been effected by a breach. Fun for the whole family.

OK, I usually don't comment, but I feel a need to add my 2 cents. - - I moved to Upstate SC (Greer) about 8 years ago from suburban Chicago. All I can say is I love it here!! Yes, the summers can get hot; but compared to a Chicago winter, I'll take it. The BBQ is awesome (that's Pork Butt or Shoulder in many places down here). Yes they have mustard sauce but always have options. I like Mutts BBQ and combine the Sweet and Smokey with the mustard. The people are awesome and the downtown Greenville area with all the restaurants and microbreweries is great. Every place has its bad areas. If you just focus on those, you will never find anything you like, anywhere.

#6 Is so true. For me it was in reverse. I grew up in Louisiana for the most part. So gators, snakes and even an occasional bobcat were normal. But the first time i saw a grizzly I almost shat myself! You southern folk like myself might not be aware of this, but up north these bears are EVERYWHERE! They run, they can swim, they climb trees, I've even heard they can open doors! Gators don't do that chit!
