The person with the biggest balls in rock music is a woman. Cause it takes some major Cajones to walk onto the stage as the song is playing and be the new singer for Linkin Park! And I have so much respect for the band for doing things this way. They could have gone and found a Chester Clone, but they didn't they chose to be different because they want to carry on as the band and go in a new direction. Emily sounds different, but that's fine. They made this choice organically and I respect the band for that.

I fully respect LP making a comeback. Chester died, but LP is still here. We will always miss him & it was always going to be a difficult task to fill his shoes in any way--there's no way to avoid the comparisons to a voice that was so iconic for an entire generation. I genuinely think it was smart to choose a female vocalist. It takes away any possability of people thinking they're trying to replace Chester with a vocal clone. I will say, I'm more interested in checking out the new album with songs written & mixed with her voice in mind, because so far, I'm not a fan of her voice on the old LP records. I'm trying to keep an open mind because I'm sure she was (understandably) nervous & intimidated for her debut show. That said, she is frequently flat on the melodic vocals here & it looks & sounds like she's trying too hard to push the growl & scream distortion. Quite frankly, if she keeps at it like this, she's going to blow her vocal chords out in no time. That strain is likely part of why her melodies are so flat. There's already obvious evidence of vocal failure due to strain at 15:27, 15:32 & 21:15. Im sure there was more. Chester had an unusually wide range that most people simply can't match. For the health if her voice, she needs to pull back the scream a bit and practice better breath support or she's likely to do permanent damage & then they'll be back to needing to find a new vocalist again. Scream is just SO hard on the voice--especially at the intensity level of a live performance. Pushing that hard for an hour straight is incredibly difficult. Even if her style never really grows on me, I genuinely hope she learns to do these vocals more safely & practices a lot of vocal rest between shows. I truly wish them all the best. LP has been through so much. They were such an important part of my music journey in my teens & 20s. I would love to witness them rise to the top again, even if Im only cheering them on from the sidelines.

She seems to have difficulty holding long notes, her screams are on point with what you would expect although if not used to it will wear the vocal cords down. She doesn't sound smooth however with practice and training, can hone in and excel greatly. As someone that does whistle tones, it does take practice to make things natural and not strain to make them happen.

Emily Armstrong needs to take Vocal Lessons from the Screamo Instructor. Because i can tell she’s not Screaming right, there’s a Correct Method to screaming. Not forcing it out or pushing it out, that will damage the vocal cords. There is a Video on it. Check out Lacey Sturm, how she teaches how to do it correctly while keeping her vocal cords healthy. Because watching this performance seeing Emily cant even sing consistently, like she’s exhausting her vocal cords. It means she’s screaming incorrect method.

Песни, которые были написаны и подбиты специально под Честера. Сейчас за годик сыграются, споются, напишут новые песни и аранжировки под новую вокалистку, под ее собственный ритм и темперамент, и группа будет звучать вполне достойно. Тут 3 из 6 человек - это новые люди - половина группы, ни больше, ни меньше.
