One of the first things I learned when I took computer programming in high school... computers only do what they are told.
So someone saying they are telling a computer to do something is not all that unusual. :)

I just told my computer to be faster, It didn't listen. I might be dealing with a sentient being. If you don't hear from me in a day or 2, get to safety and start a resistance.

Computers are just machines that do exactly what they're told. Programming is the art of telling them what to do, and debugging is figuring out how the instructions got garbled. Because telling them what to do correctly can be quite tricky.
Once you know that, you realize that most of computer programming and visualization in TV shows and movies is wildly inaccurate, with _Stargate_ a repeat offender.

The thing I most like about this episode is that Jack is nearly killed by the energy burst but the crystal thing still identified his greatest injury as the death of his son.
SG1 rarely touched on this aspect, but it was always there. RDA wasn’t comfortable with this aspect of the character but never failed to put 100% into it when it came up

I hear what you're saying about those watching this without having seen the movie (though I think most would have first) but it is acknowledged in the pilot episode when Jack is talking to Daniel at his house. This episode is obviously trying to address the elephant in the room and showing the audience how Jack (and his ex-wife) are coping with it and giving them a bit of catharsis as well.

This isn't the first time Charlie is mentioned in the show, the very first episode establishes that with the two Airforce Officers that visit Jacks house at the very start. That isn't the only time it's mentioned either.

I like the subtle comic relief they added, and use more often in the series, when Tealc fires his staff and asks if they had permission. :D

HE is a military man "macho" etc...real men dont show emotions and him being in the top elite special forces he have learned to put things behind him when friends get "lost" in combat etc so he can maintain professionalism and lead his troops etc ofc his son is a bit harder to "shake" but it ends up in the same place where all the others have ended up....you cant operate with such thought without putting your crew in danger so it gets pushed a side, here we got to see the clone do what he could not do

The doctor's name is Janet Fraser. She appears almost as often as General Hammond and often has a bigger role.

Hi Shannan! You're pretty tough, tougher than I am. I was pretty much crying through that episode. Very poignant, one of the best episodes. I thought the actor who played Jack's wife (Harley Jane Kozak) was superb. I've seen a lot of actors fake tears, but I cried every time I looked at her, she was that real. Thanks, Shannan. Made my day. Always look forward to your SG-1 reactions. Rawwrr!!! :)

A confusing start to a really touching conclusion. Overall a great episode imo. At least I felt emotional about thast tragedy and how each of them tried to cope with that.

Due to her busy schedule I'm afraid the only way to suggest shows for her to react to is by obtaining a spot in the Pilot Tier on her Patreon. If you're interested however, spots in this Tier are very much sought after and currently all sold out, when one does become available you'd have to act quick, good luck 🙂👍

Ok um here’s my suggestion on what movie/show you should rewatch the Karate kid and then watch Netflix show cobra kai

Due to her overbooked schedule, she's not able to take on any suggestions outside the monthly pilot requests made by people in the Pilot Tier on her Patreon, If you'd like for her to react to Karate Kid and Cobra Kai, your best bet would be to try and obtain a spot in this Tier. Fair warning, if you're interested, spots in this Tier currently sold out and are hard to come by, when one becomes available they usually get taken quick. Good luck 🙂👍

Yeah I don't know I never really liked this episode. The concept is a bit bland and the acting is akward to say the least. Richard Dean Anderson doesn't really have that much range as an actor. I guess that was his charm back then, but in a world were we have become more critical and analytical some of his performances in certain episodes are a bit one dimensional. I just didn't feel any emotion about him or his wife in this episode.

You're forgetting the fact that duplicate O'Neill is an alien entity who is existing in a form that he has no experience with. Human emotion, human culture, verbal communication are all completely foreign to him, so of course he would seem very awkward. RDA was playing the role exactly how he should have played it.
Any lack of emotion from real O'Neill is also totally within the established character, like Belnick6666 said, he's just not the type of person who outwardly expresses his true emotions very often. Most of the outward emotion we see from his character is expressed sarcastically or as an outright joke, this is a front he uses to cover up or distract from his true emotions. This is also the same reason they didn't bring up his son's death every other episode, he very much keeps personal things to himself. Even with Daniel, who he became very close with in the movie, he barely talked about what happened to his son, or any other part of his past for that matter. Also, as the viewers we are meant to be outside observers watching the story unfold, we're not supposed to have intimate knowledge of the characters' inner most thoughts and feelings at all times, that would make everything super predictable and ruin any kind of nuance in the storytelling.

Seeing the movie, that took place before the events of the show, adds to the depth of understanding, this being one of the things they addressed from the movie. Though Richard Dean Anderson did explain he could not play the character in the same way Kurt Russell did.
