The Market place clip was by far my favourite. The effect and editing of the clip absorbes you into the spirit and the character of the place. Well done
The sound levels in that clip were also very well balanced. I wanted to like some of the busy edits a bit more, the pace of them suited what was trying to be projected very well but I sort of feel the same as Pete, for me personally the number of transitions almost made it too much to process. The coffee shop edit was also great start to finish, very well paced and everything was so well balanced. Also, shout out to that egg too.

ive been at this for about 2 years and never realized the sound desing is so impactful. I never intended to fall in love with photography or video production. I was just given a camera for my role as a webhost for my community.. and it has spawned a whole new direction in where im going.
It is absolutely inspiring to watch so many creators that submit in making those challenges. Gives new ideas , gives different point of views. I am not into cinematography but i am really into photography. Loved it. I believe that we had as much fun as you did. Loved the little hungry girl, love the Russian language and the way that she said "harasho" at the end of the video made it a perfect ending.
Peter, one thing I just love about your channel is how you are so positive towards others in the community. You offer terrific feedback to others while also expressing your admiration for other people’s styles. I don’t do much videography but used to do a lot of photography. I JUST got Adobe Premier and am just starting to play a little. I’m hoping to completely revamp my UA-cam channel to offer instructional type videos for my job/hobby, aviation. My last video I made a big effort to crush the audio and I honestly think it was one of the best learning experience I’ve had yet. Crazy what sfx does. Awesome reviews. These creators are dope.

Great idea! Just one thing. This was a challenge on Sound Design, so why did you watch the videos on your phone? I mean I know that todays phone speakers are not bad and all, but you should at least have used some headphones in order to really appreciate the work these people did on the sound... nevertheless cool video :)
You do realize he was using the phone in the video to.... make the video, yes? How else do you think he narrowed down the selections? He's using his phone so he can still be a part of the video and we can see his reactions rather than staring at a monitor with headphones on.
@@gustoffen but you can talk even when you wear headphones. Also he pauses the video anyway when he talks for a longer period ;) and someone else chose the videos for him so he has never seen any of them before...
All I'm saying is it's completely ridiculous to assume that someone like Peter would *only* watch these videos on his iPhone.... sure, it's new and he loves it, but come on... the man's a professional. The challenge was based around SFX - nobody is gonna go "well these little mobile speakers will do it justice" haha
Loved most of these, although it feels like so many tried to channel "Watchtower of Turkey" with the multitude of whip pans and crazy transitions. The Coffee vid in the beginning nailed it though, that sound design was excellent!

Greeting from the southern hemisphere. While I understand your excitement about incoming autumn, we are having incoming spring. Different opportunities. And we have very few (in Australia) deciduous trees so the leaves haven't gone anywhere... So what I think I'm saying is it would be good if you northern hemispherers (invented word) could offer season specific challenges regardless of which side of the equator we're on. But if that's too long winded, let me say this: love your work, Peter. Love your style. Thank you.

I agree with you regarding the fast transitions make you get a little bit overwhelmed. Though maybe these videos are not focused on the cinematography nor composition but on telling a story very fast. this can be useful for Instagram for instance, where you have a time limit. I think this trend will look cheesy in a couple of years but today it looks pretty cool.

You forgot to mention that the first video sound effects are timed perfectly with the background score. That was my first impression. Dope! All the videos are amazingly done no doubt.
9:00 It seems like a lot of this is frenetic trend-based editing, rather than emotion-based editing. Unless I was meant to get the impression that Dublin is aggressive and disorienting like Hong Kong during a mass protest or something.

7:26 for that sound, you can use knife and run it on stone table and use software to smooth and tune it a bit.
