I would think the tipped version might make a difference out at longer distances, but for hunting... and I don't hunt myself, but from what I hear, around here at least (NC), most deer are taken at 100 yards or less.
A while back I took a shot at an 8pt white tail ( 190-200 lbs ) was using Federal Core Lock. $18.99 a box of 20 pre shortage prices. 150 grain. Shot was only 60yds. Probably a clone of the Remington. I looked immediately to see which direction he was headed after shooting but he was gone. It was my son’s rifle and I was in disbelief that I could’ve missed from that range. Especially aiming just below the shoulder. I waited 10-15 min and walked over where he was when I fired and found him laying within inches of where he was standing, the shot evidently knocked him off his feet and he was probably dead when he hit the ground (when we processed him it was a clean heart shot). This year I shot another large 8 point at a 150 yds with the same cartridge, same shot placement but this guy ran around 70 yds. Point being that the hydrostatic shock of a 308 inside 80-100 yds is massive, so for short range hunting as demonstrated by Mr. Tools the energy dump is incredible.
I think I would go with the reg. core lokt non tipped vs the tipped as they are $10 a box cheaper and virtually no difference in performance. Very interesting test for sure. Have a good one brother and I will see you on the next one.
I like the soft point, it’s put a lot of groceries in the freezer. The penetration is not much better than the punch but a heck of a lot more ka-Boom from the 308 . Enjoyed the video man. That was some good shooting into the gel. U sure do a good job on keeping your gel clean and clear.
Awesome video, really appreciate you putting that much effort into test these rounds. I think you just started a new trend, lol. Now we are going to wanna see .223, .300 blk and all the other popular rifle rounds. Keep up the good work
Thank you so much for this video. It was very informative! You do such an excellent job at this. I have been hunting for years and have always used the core locked .308 caliber in my Mauser 660 with a 24-inch Krupp steel barrel. It has never failed me. I can't see the extra $10 for the ballistic tip. But I would not have known that without your experiment. Once again, thank you so much for your expertise in this subject.
Thanks tools. I just said I wasn’t spending any more money this month and after watching this I just ordered a AR10 from PSA and 200 rounds of core lok lol
Very cool! I searched for a video on that Core Lokt 150gr. .308 boolit because that's the same one that my Remmy R-15 uses in its .30 Remington AR chambering. I get about 2650 fps. or so from the 22" barrel on the R-15. It is quite accurate out of my rig also. More interesting to me was the gel test. Very nice.
The tipped version caused more pronounced ignition burns in the gel which implies a more explosive energy dump. Besides that they both produced equivalent PWC's. The soft tips are fool proof performance.
Excellent comparison. I wish they could make a smoother soft point.. but I guess that's beyond the material. The Federals I got were all mashed up from when they seated the bullet. I suspect that's got more to do with the plastic tips than just ballistics.
It's great your doing rifle tests i love the trusty psp and would be fine out to 150 to 200yds if you noticed in the chrono tipped point of impact was inches higher at distance would carry more energy the farther you go and if you zero the rifle with tipped you can do it all😊 in Oregon the average shot is 40yds for white tail psp work just fine
Great video! Would definitely like to see more if these hi power rifle caliber videos. Very happy to see Remington plant cranking out ammo again. More ammo supply is better than less ammo supply!
To see if there's a 10 dollar difference probably should check group sizes at 200 yards or 275 yards. I think about 275 yards is maximum point blank range. Meaning that if you zero at 275 yards it should hit inside a 6 inch target being 3 inches high closer and no more than 3 inches low out to about 350 yards. I didn't explain it exactly right but that's the general idea depending on ballistics and bullet drop.
I took my first buck with a 225 gr. PSP 338 Win Mag at about 35 yards. No need to track because it dropped in it's tracks. I found out later that the all the bullet tips were flattened a bit in the magazine. I think the tipped bullets might not deform as much. However, I never had a long range opportunity so spending the extra money for the tipped bullets wouldn't make a difference to me.
Both worked great, will probably stick with the non tipped due to price and the fact that I shoot 3/4 moa with the non tipped out of my browning x bolt hunter in 308. I also shoot less than 1 moa out of my ruger m77 mk2 in 30 06. Really appreciate this video.👍👍
CoreLokts have been my go-to for deer hunting & haven't failed me yet. Used 6mm bolt gun, .270 Rem semi-auto, & Browning .30-06 semi auto. Funny that posters on other channels have been bad mouthing them, saying they don't shoot groups less than 6-8" @ 100 yds. Yet you just shot groups in the 1"-2" range with an AR. I call 💩 on them! Great video, & agree with the majority that the standard load is the way to go.
Yeah if they're shooting 6 -8 inch groups at 100, They might wanna stick to basket weaving. There's no doubt I could have gotten it even tighter with a truly solid shooting table and rest. These things did great from what I saw.👍
Man that mucked up the jelly lol! Wow on both, I believe you are ready to harvest a deer for sure! Seemed the non-tipped was more consistent on the chrono between shots and performed better than the tipped into bare gel. Maybe the tipped had a slower round into the gel so it came up a little short! Looked like that tipped bullet left a dirty black wound cavity that I would not want to have in my deer to clean or cut away. For that reason I choose the non-tipped, plus the price too! Guess you would get whatever is on the shelf if you need it either would get'r dun! Rocked that Jelly good! Peace brother!
@@ToolsandTargets this was my favorite test you have done please do more hunting rounds one I would really like to see is something with 270 if you have that and love your content brother thank you
The tipped wound channel to me appears to have tumbled. The separation to me is also a concern for hunting applications. I had always used CoreLock in 30-06, but did more hunting for deer that were smaller, ( Florida.) When I went to the .270, I had issues on larger bodied deer in Alabama with jacket separation from the lead core. I thing that would go to higher velocities. I changed to Nosler Partitioned bullets in Fed. Premium and problem solved. I was interested in seeing the difference in the new Remington bullet design. Interesting, there was a 100 fps variance in the 5 shot group in the tipped. That surprised me. Halfmile likely could offer more relevant substance than I if I heard the numbers correctly. I don't know what didn't like that test more, the Jelly, or the table. Great video Tools. Hunters were tuned into this one. Yea, I was 3 hours late.
Better late than never! I wondered about all that lead and jacket separating into the meat myself. Maybe I'm overthinking it but if I hunted, I think I would prefer a really nice expanding solid copper round. But what do I know, I just hunt steel.🤷♂️
Another great video. I have Always liked the core lokt and had good luck with it. Hope Rem. don't try to phase out the old PSP for the new tipped version just so they can get more money. They have been super hard for me to find. We know how most of Rem. price has been of late. Really liked that accuracy test also. I think that is a great addition to the jelly test. Keep em coming brother!
I just bought 3 boxes of remington 308 corelokt, at Walmart and I have 7 boxes of federal powershok 308 all 150gr. I have found for standard calibers like 308, and 30-30, and 30-06 that the federal blue box and the old school corelokt ammo is loaded to the exact same specs, and In my rifles works about the same for accuracy, and performance on game.
Thanks for the video. Very informative. I’ve been using Core-Loks since 1967. Great performers. I have a collection of mushrooms recovered from game. They do the job. You don’t need an over engineered fancy high tech projectile. Thanks for your efforts.
Remington Core Lokt has been performing just like that for many years. There are more expensive bullets out there, but are they really better? You can likely get a little more accuracy, a little more range, and a little more terminal performance, but the Core Lokt still works very well on big game, and does it at a better price. And hell, ammunition is high enough without paying for Noslers and Sierras.
When these hit that Jelly I actually said "Holy S&%*" Even the wife came over to see this! I knew the 308 was a beast but dad-gum! Very Nice video and excellent shooting! Definitely would not pay $10 more tho!
That was a fun video to watch. I liked everything about the format. The Rem Core lokt is legendary in WI. It's killed enormous bucks from its introduction to present day. Sure, there are more advanced designs today that do offer advantages over it. That being said, a Rem Core Lokt out of a 308 or 30-06 with a 150 or 165 gr bullet has been standard here for the average deer hunter for decades. I like to site in at 50 yards because my average shot is 20-60 yards. When I get a shot at 100-150 yards the 50 yard zero with a 308 or my 7mm mag is still well within the vitals.
Thank you sir. That's why I didn't take this test out to 100 yards. Some people like to think they're gonna snipe a deer at 500 yards but in reality, I suspect most kills are well under 100 yards.👍
Sonoluminescence creates a huge chirp of heat/light which you recorded and caused those burn marks. I put this in my playlist by that name. Sonoluminescence is the emission of light from imploding bubbles in a liquid when excited by sound. Some have argued that actual temperatures in sonoluminescing systems can be far higher than 20,000 kelvins. Some research claims to have measured temperatures as high as 100,000 kelvins, and speculates temperatures could reach into the millions of kelvins. Temperatures this high could cause thermonuclear fusion. This possibility is sometimes referred to as bubble fusion and is likened to the implosion design used in the fusion component of thermonuclear weapons.
Yeah, I liked the way ya did this video. But I like all ya videos so for me to say I like this one better than any of your other ones you know I am a big hunter and I definitely like the educational part of it. But I like them all man....you do a great job! Keep up the great work brother and be safe. ✌
I have an old 30-06 which shot the Core-lokt just fine in the deer woods in Maine out to 200 yards. Now I'm out in CO and would love to take an elk. I'm considering using the 165 gr. tipped Core-lokt extending my range a bit out to 300-350 yards. This rifle had always seemed to shoot 165 gr a little better than any other grain. $10 more for a little higher BC w/ a little flatter trajectory may mean something. My hunt w/this rifle will be next year, but Remington certainly gave me something to think about.
Tools, Somehow you have almost all my same wireless hole punchers. So I loved this vid. Also I really appreciate you hitting the gel at some distance. I saw another but they shot at 10 yards. Yours is more indicative of reality. They were doing same close distance on 223. Do you have a video on 223/556 at this same or similar 56 yard distance?
I'm glad you did this test. It doesn't change my mind only confirms my thoughts. I have used Core-Lokt PSP in both 30-06 and 308 for years. It is my go to round for deer. The tipped ammo is to have a better Balistic Coefficient. So at longer range it might be more accurate, but one need to ask if they should be taking long range shots on game and not can they make long range shots on game.
If you should depends on if your capable of it, I always figure don't shoot any farther at game then your practice. If your whitetail hunting then there's not really a necessity, if your out west then the closest shot you get may be 500 yards across a valley. Of course one must also know the limits of the cartridge, just because you can hit a elk at 500 yards with your .243 doesn't make it a good idea.
@@ToolsandTargets there is also another consideration with the tipped core lokt I have heard in favor of them in heavier animals like Boar and Elk the point is there to aid with penetration and begin the penetration in a more controlled manner. Not sure though but it does seem like they would help on Eastern Elk.
I have a difficult time trusting Remington ammo, in 2018, the Core Lokt that I bought in 30:06 shot scattered groups, could not get them to hit where I aimed. Found a box about ten years older, shot like it should have, driving tacks. I figured that the multiple bankruptcies resulted in some sort of changes in quality control, or powder formula.
Love the cleetus hat and the channel. If you cut and screw a couple pieces of 1/2 or 3/4 plywood together it might save your table when shooting gel with the bigger calibers . Just a thought. Keep up the nice work. My new favorite channel
I absolutely love the shirt you're wearing, but as far as the weight retention, I expected that the tipped round would shed more weight because I knew the plastic tip would shed on impact so the weight retention difference was to be expected. Great video and would love to see more like this!
Thank you sir. I really need to do some more rifle testing. It's always tricky picking a distance to test it at. No matter where I pick, somebody is always gonna want to see it at a different one.😆
For the hell of it, I had to come back to watch this video again. I'm thinking I need to find some of these Remingtons for my new .308 rifle. Looks like both will work well, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for making this detailed test. I prefer bonded or copper bullets to avoid the fragments. Great video !! Perfect length if they thinks it’s too long they can turn off you already got the view 😁
I picked up the Core Lokt in 30-06 the other day thinking it was the same core Lokt I've always seen but was surprised to see VERY clean brass and a nice green tip. Thanks for the video 🤗
Just found this. I must've subscribed right after you dropped this one. Maybe the SP retained more weight than the tipped because the SP had more lead in it to begin with? The entirety of what would be a hollow point is filled with lead plus there is the lead point out past that. But the tipped has a hollow point where lead is missing, and the entire tip is lightweight polymer. Just a guess.
for testing, more info is great. But in the final analysis all I care about is will it take down the game I am after with accuracy and with minimal use of ammo. Lastly it would depend upon which ammo my weapon liked better. Cost also plays into the equation but results always speak loudest.
I shoot 308 Winchester at long distance at targets. 800 to 1200 regularly and out to 1500 on occasions. A Savage m10 heavy fluted barrel 24" stock with hand loads. I've been interested in an Ar platform in 308 for some time. What brand rifle, barrel and twist is yours if you don't mind me asking? If you answered this already I apologize. If I may be so kind to say, you should try out the Federal Gold Metal Match for testing groups. Top notch consistently in velocity and accuracy in lots of different weapons platform's. I would be very interested to see both grouping and gel testing with the Sierra Matchking. Not recommended for hunting by Sierra. If you do test, make sure the tip is open or even enlarge it a bit. Maybe suprising results. This used to be used in Armed Forces as a sniper bullet in 168gr and my preferred, 175gr bullet. A 1/10 twist is pretty common and will usually work fine with either bullet. At 600 yards a 308 Winchester still thumps whitetail. Great videos. Keep'em coming!
Nice! This is a PSA upper I put on a PSA lower I put together. 20" 1:10 twist. I'll definitely have to check those rounds out because I just picked up a new rifle in .308 to test against this one. I have several different ammo types and I think Sierra Matchking might be one of them. Thank you sir!
Great test. would be curious if the difference changes at 100-200 yards. 3 years later the price difference is more like $15. just can't see the value in the tipped at that price difference
Thanks Tools, I need to get a scope on my AR 308 so that I can start shooting it some. I agree, the tipped ammo is nice but not .50 cent more per round nice. When it comes down closer in price to the regular core-lokt I'd buy a bunch and play around with it. Currently in my bolt gun for hunting I use regular core-lokt 130 grain and I have no complaints. I've fed a lot of those poison mushrooms to many deer and pigs.
@@ToolsandTargets they are solid haven’t tried the new tipped yet! want to correct myself it was 2003 not 2001 I also shot the fusion when they came out in 2005 also a great bullet! Thanks for the video on the two bud! 👌
What barrel lenght were you using? I'm getting around 2510 fps from my sig cross 308 with a 16 inch barrel. Ammo is federal fusion 165 grain. I think for that weight tbe velocity is not bad so from the 150 grain i should be getting over 2600 fps but i just got my sig cross and i have only tested the 165 and i zero it with that round. I will other rounds with different grain weights netx time i go to the range.
Remington corlocks have been some of the most consistent factory ammo I've ever used How about testing pointed and round nose same bullet weight thanks
If the tipped version had more wound Chanel then I would say as to its purpose in hunting the regular core lokt bullet would be an advantage as would damage less meat not even mentioning the difference in cost, when I hunted regularly I used the old core lokt and it has taken many deer for my freezer in addition to other game, as to accuracy it would be interesting to put this test in a bolt action at 100 yards and shoot two or three groups from each ammo type to compare avg group size
Honestly if it did, it wasn't even noticeable to the naked eye. Really just depended on what angel you looked at it from. One thing I didn't really like from either of them was how much lead and jacket was shed throughout the "meat." Maybe I'm putting too much stock in that though.🤷♂️
The main reason the tipped bullets is an increase in ballistic coefficient. This will increase performance at ranges that exceed 300 yards. At lesser ranges you won't see much difference. As far as accuracy goes not all rifles shoot the same. Put these two loads in another rifle and the group sizes may be reversed. Factory ammo is designed to function in any rifle. They can't make a load that can shoot small groups in all rifles.
I'll tell you right now Tula I've used for The last 5 years a retain a lot of their weight that's why I use the 165 SP I wish they would make a 150 sp But drill a tiny hole on the FMJBT 150 in to govt 148 grain try it out against old school like my grandfather would used to new ballistic tips.
One is meant for long range while the other is more like 400 yards and closer. 308 at 60 yards should be very consistent with decent rounds but extend out to 700 and see which rounds are on target. Much different results with the tipped ammo.
One factor that the testing doesn't take into account is what happens at range. 56 yards doesn't give enough time for differences in performance to manifest themselves. Run the same tests at 200-300 yards, and I'd expect to see bigger differences. If they really are that similar, then you can see that the best performer of the day was Remington's marketing department, who are managing to get $0.50 per round more just by inserting a piece of plastic and hyping that up.
Another awesome video, we appreciate all your hard work testing and shooting. I don’t have a 308, altho I been looking at the PSA AR10 in 308. I do use a 270 Win to deer hunt and suspect the same test results with it using the core loct vs the tipped. Thanks, I’ll stick with the core lokt not to mention the 10 beans difference. Thanks again and keep the videos coming.
The tipped cor lokt is meant for longer range shooting. Looking at the 180 grain 308, the regular has a ballistic coefficient of .248, which by today's standards is absolute garbage. The tipped 180 grain has a bc of .480 which is pretty good. So yes, if you are hunting within 0-300 yards the regular cor lokt is probably safe. But if you want to reach out and touch something, the tipped would be a better choice.
Awesome video again, really nice tests you present. I haven't hunted in +10 years, but I have taken deer with .308 and I always liked the nosler 165gn ballistic tip back then. I need to get it out and shoot some reloads before they go bad.
The PSP Core-Lokt has been a proven performer for decades. The tipped version may be marginally better but I have yet to see it at the local stores. Shows the "old school" .308 is still an effective round.
I really would like to know the barrel length to compare with my siaga 308 ak version. every thang was a wonderful honest comparison. thank you very much. nana and papa wishing you well.
again nice testing, great grouping. I don't see a $10-$12 price difference to be worth it at all. but for those who don't see the ballistic Jelly tests wont know the difference ( if there is a difference) and pay the price thinking they really have something new and improved!

😎👍
To see if there's a 10 dollar difference probably should check group sizes at 200 yards or 275 yards. I think about 275 yards is maximum point blank range. Meaning that if you zero at 275 yards it should hit inside a 6 inch target being 3 inches high closer and no more than 3 inches low out to about 350 yards. I didn't explain it exactly right but that's the general idea depending on ballistics and bullet drop.
The cor-lok 180grain SP is the only thing I've used for 40 years....KILLS EVERYTHING.!
💥🦌💥
Those probably kick you pretty good old man. I like 150 SST's. 😮👍
@@JamesJones-cx5pk you sir are correct I have never found the 150 in the SP.
Agreed. I think most people will never really see the benefit of the tipped rounds at the distance they would hunt from.
Thank you sir. Have to agree, sub moa out of this AR with the regular soft point tells me there aint no need to switch to the tipped ones.🤷♂️
Yessir. Sent the jelly flyin. I agree though if I have the choice, I'm takin the regular.👍
Well Tools this is pretty serious stuff with these 2 Remington 308s! Good work!
Thank you sir. This stuff meant business!
Great test! Very impressive to see the energy dump on video. I would enjoy seeing more videos like this. Thanks!
Thank you sir. The energy dump was crazy!💥
I've been trying to convince my wife for years now that soft things are better.... ty tools can't wait to show her this
🤣🤣🤣
dont you want to her to turn your soft ware to hard ware....
What a coincidence. I can't believe it. We've both been telling her the same thing for years. (sorry i couldn't resist the stupid joke.)
@@ToolsandTargets this was my favorite test you have done please do more hunting rounds one I would really like to see is something with 270 if you have that and love your content brother thank you
@@DontTreadOnMe-ig3pc Thank you sir. I'll see what I can some up with.👍
The tipped wound channel to me appears to have tumbled. The separation to me is also a concern for hunting applications.
I had always used CoreLock in 30-06, but did more hunting for deer that were smaller, ( Florida.)
When I went to the .270, I had issues on larger bodied deer in Alabama with jacket separation from the lead core.
@@ToolsandTargets
With your thought processes, you could easily transition to hunting meat instead of steel.
Bwdik?
Another great video. I have Always liked the core lokt and had good luck with it. Hope Rem. don't try to phase out the old PSP for the new tipped version just so they can get more money. They have been super hard for me to find. We know how most of Rem. price has been of late. Really liked that accuracy test also. I think that is a great addition to the jelly test. Keep em coming brother!
Thank you sir. They would probably have a bunch of rioting hunters if they tried to get rid of the standard soft point!😆
Agreed. The vast majority of people would never see any benefit from the fancy ones.
Amen!😎👍
When these hit that Jelly I actually said "Holy S&%*" Even the wife came over to see this! I knew the 308 was a beast but dad-gum! Very Nice video and excellent shooting! Definitely would not pay $10 more tho!
LOL, my wife asked what I shot it with when she saw the video too!😂😂😂
They both will truly do the trick
Absolutely!
I do appreciate you using the hunting rounds in the testing
Thank you sir. I'll try to do some more hunting stuff.👍
Just about what I thought it would be. I’ve always liked the core loct ammo.
Thank You for another great video.
Keep em coming.
Thank you sir. They both made the jelly dance!
Im not a die hard deer hunter, but I've taken a few with my 30-06 and the the old school soft points have worked great.
Great test tools I think for the price I would stick with the soft tip. They really did a job on that gel!!!
Thank you sir. The gel is still in shock!
Yeah this gel is made with oil that combusts like diesel from high powered rounds.👍
#science
Great seeing the velocity test and the accuracy test done simultaneously.
Appreciate you checkin it out!😎👍
ive been useing corelokt tipped in all my rifles, all calibers shoot great and moa. and no duds like plain corlokt
For short range hunting I’d definitely take te standard for weight retention and no plastic tips in an AR.
Yeah, I liked the way ya did this video. But I like all ya videos so for me to say I like this one better than any of your other ones you know I am a big hunter and I definitely like the educational part of it. But I like them all man....you do a great job! Keep up the great work brother and be safe. ✌
Appreciate that brother!😎👊
I have an old 30-06 which shot the Core-lokt just fine in the deer woods in Maine out to 200 yards. Now I'm out in CO and would love to take an elk. I'm considering using the 165 gr. tipped Core-lokt extending my range a bit out to 300-350 yards. This rifle had always seemed to shoot 165 gr a little better than any other grain. $10 more for a little higher BC w/ a little flatter trajectory may mean something. My hunt w/this rifle will be next year, but Remington certainly gave me something to think about.
Nice. I'm sure you'll get it done.👍
I love the 165 PSP . I haven't made the switch yet but considering solid copper 165 or 150 from pa my self
Tools,
Somehow you have almost all my same wireless hole punchers. So I loved this vid.
Also I really appreciate you hitting the gel at some distance. I saw another but they shot at 10 yards. Yours is more indicative of reality.
They were doing same close distance on 223. Do you have a video on 223/556 at this same or similar 56 yard distance?
The only .223 video I have done is on the HELO rounds at pretty close distance. I definitely wanna do some more rifle stuff at a distance though.
Very well said.👍
If you should depends on if your capable of it, I always figure don't shoot any farther at game then your practice.
I don't doubt that at all. I have a bunch of older late 90'sish Core-Lokt in .30-06.
Love the cleetus hat and the channel. If you cut and screw a couple pieces of 1/2 or 3/4 plywood together it might save your table when shooting gel with the bigger calibers . Just a thought. Keep up the nice work. My new favorite channel
Thank you sir. I'm definitely gonna have to step up the wood base for these big rounds. That particle board was like paper under this energy.😆
Fantastic test and review, it was good to see the quick review of the weight and expansion, thanks!
Thank you sir.😎👍
I absolutely love the shirt you're wearing, but as far as the weight retention, I expected that the tipped round would shed more weight because I knew the plastic tip would shed on impact so the weight retention difference was to be expected. Great video and would love to see more like this!
Thank you sir. I really need to do some more rifle testing. It's always tricky picking a distance to test it at. No matter where I pick, somebody is always gonna want to see it at a different one.😆
I like the way you compared these two bullets I’ve been waiting for this 👍🏻🇺🇸
Thank you sir. It was a very cool test.😎
I tried the core lokt tipped recently out of a TC Venture .308 165 grain. I was impressed .75” group at 100 yards.
Nice.😎
The tipped version will probably be more reliable in autoloaders. My armalite is older, and the manual recommended against soft point bullets.
It may have better ballistics out at 200 yards plus too.🤷♂️
For the hell of it, I had to come back to watch this video again. I'm thinking I need to find some of these Remingtons for my new .308 rifle. Looks like both will work well, thanks for sharing.
Definitely good stuff.
Thanks for making this detailed test. I prefer bonded or copper bullets to avoid the fragments. Great video !! Perfect length if they thinks it’s too long they can turn off you already got the view 😁
Thank you sir. I was wondering about all the fragments myself.
I picked up the Core Lokt in 30-06 the other day thinking it was the same core Lokt I've always seen but was surprised to see VERY clean brass and a nice green tip. Thanks for the video 🤗
Appreciate you checkin it out!
Very very informative I have always used cor locked and have never lost an animal in my 308 that includes elk moose mule deer and white tail
Definitely makes sense.
for testing, more info is great. But in the final analysis all I care about is will it take down
the game I am after with accuracy and with minimal use of ammo. Lastly it would depend
upon which ammo my weapon liked better. Cost also plays into the equation but results
always speak loudest.
😎👍
Thank you sir!
bringin out the big guns
I might become a full time deer hunter next!💥🦌💥
Gotta start somewhere
Great test. would be curious if the difference changes at 100-200 yards.
Appreciate ya checkin it out brother. It's definitely not worth the price difference. Just the newest thing for people to rave about.🤷♂️
Federal Fusion, Winchester Trophy Bonded or Remington Core Lokt. Either of the three, you’re doing good
Been shooting old core locks since 2001 love them always do the job! 👍
Looks like a good one to me.😎👍
@@ToolsandTargets they are solid haven’t tried the new tipped yet! want to correct myself it was 2003 not 2001 I also shot the fusion when they came out in 2005 also a great bullet! Thanks for the video on the two bud! 👌
That’s why I reload Tools I know what I’m getting with my reloading now. I like the core-lokt in a magnum round.
👍
What barrel lenght were you using? I'm getting around 2510 fps from my sig cross 308 with a 16 inch barrel. Ammo is federal fusion 165 grain. I think for that weight tbe velocity is not bad so from the 150 grain i should be getting over 2600 fps but i just got my sig cross and i have only tested the 165 and i zero it with that round. I will other rounds with different grain weights netx time i go to the range.
GREAT SCOTT! How did i miss this test? Well i seen it now...good stuff. Best time of the day is...well you know what time it is..
Jelly Time!💥💥💥
Remington corlocks have been some of the most consistent factory ammo I've ever used How about testing pointed and round nose same bullet weight thanks
I went hunting today with 7.62x39 Ruger American ranch. 123 Federal Fusion 123 Bonded soft point.
Nice. I have some soft point 7.62x39 Tula.
Yep. I'd say for most hunters purposes and ranges, the tipped offer nothing over regular.🤷♂️
Great results. Excellent content. Thank you so much. Looks promising for this new offering. Old core-lokt isn't a bad option.
Thank you sir. They both rocked the jelly's socks!
Great Jelly Test Tools I would go with the Regular core lock for Deer 🦌 Stay Safe Stay 2A Strong 🇺🇸
Thank you sir. Agreed!
I'll tell you right now Tula I've used for The last 5 years a retain a lot of their weight that's why I use the 165 SP
I wish they would make a 150 sp
But drill a tiny hole on the FMJBT 150
in to govt 148 grain try it out against old school like my grandfather would used to new ballistic tips.
.308 will get the job done.😎👍
Great video Sir. Love the AR10 ammo gel tests.
Thanks! I am planning to do some more soon!😎
One is meant for long range while the other is more like 400 yards and closer. 308 at 60 yards should be very consistent with decent rounds but extend out to 700 and see which rounds are on target. Much different results with the tipped ammo.
😎👍
One factor that the testing doesn't take into account is what happens at range. 56 yards doesn't give enough time for differences in performance to manifest themselves. Run the same tests at 200-300 yards, and I'd expect to see bigger differences. If they really are that similar, then you can see that the best performer of the day was Remington's marketing department, who are managing to get $0.50 per round more just by inserting a piece of plastic and hyping that up.
Marketing is king these days with so many suckers walking around.
That was cool.
Honestly, all I got out of this video was realizing I need a T-Shirt that says, "Flung it all Whichaway"
🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the comparison....well done!!!
Thank you sir.😎👍
I've been hunting me entire life and Im always comfortable loading up with soft points. They just work.

Thank you sir. Regular seemed like it did the job to me.👍
The tipped cor lokt is meant for longer range shooting.
👍
Awesome video again, really nice tests you present. I haven't hunted in +10 years, but I have taken deer with .308 and I always liked the nosler 165gn ballistic tip back then. I need to get it out and shoot some reloads before they go bad.
Thank you brother. I don't hunt but I love shooting .308.😎
I might have missed it if you mentioned it but how long is your barrel?
I think both have pros and cons but that being said, I think the original Core Lokt ammo is a proven round and I am satisfied with its performance.
