am i the only one that strongly dislikes both?? i mean the checker pattern is so excessive and i feel like the wall paper and shower curtain dont compliment the checker pattern at all. I love the medicine cabinet and the long shelf. For the full renovation bathroom, I used to have a black toilet, and let me tell you it was horribly difficult to clean since you can't see anything. The large slabs of stone would be beautiful if they weren't orange. it looks unnatural stone to me or faux. but just my opinion, if the clients like it that's all what matters :)
@@salamistaMost people just dont want to go thru the hassle of installing a tub. You'd be surprised how many people will skip a house based on something like having a tub or what kind of tub it is.
Wut? How is any of this 'renter friendly?' Opposite. These are very specific overhauls that would infuriate a landlord. Colored toilet? Weird orange swirl stone on two-thirds of the wall? Removing a tub?? No way.
@@sunshinelawfan7693 There are two bathrooms being redone in this video, and one incorporates no architectural changes, just peel and stick tile, a shelf, and other readily reversible cosmetic changes that are friendly to renters. You can see that bathroom in the preview picture, in which the tub is still very clearly present. The changes you cite are all in the other bathroom, and these changes were at no point presented as renter-friendly. Indeed, the video description itself says "With two very different budgets, Darren shares his ideas for a high-cost full renovation versus a cheaper, renter-friendly remodel."
I applaud Darren's passion for interior design but I'm rarely happy with the outcome. When you don't have a lot of money, the last thing you want a designer to do is make a space too trendy or too on trend bc that person may never be able to afford another reno. I really love watching Darren so I mean no ill will. Just being honest.
I am just picking stuff for our bathroom renovation and I love the metro tiles. A bit scared now, but I completely agree on the lighting. Cold and white lights should be outlawed. What are people thinking?
i think i would have liked it if the video introduced the issue for both, but showed the whole process for both one at a time and then the reveals at the end.
OMG I love the outcome, both of them... I think Aarons might be too "edgy" for people, but it is sooooo cool and simple atst. I really love Daren's tips for reno on a budget ❤
My bathroom has peachy prange walls with I love with my daylight bulbs, the walls give the warmer glow, wholst the lighting feels like natural light which I love.
Darren, I have been watching you as an interior designer. You also do a great job. Your designs are modern and friendly. Thanks for sharing today's video.
Just FYI, I bought daylight bulbs thinking they would be a soft white (not because of this video btw), and they were serial killer blue/white. Hospital vibes. So yea, just thought I would let you know.
Sorry, I do appreciate a designer pushing the boundaries and having some fun, but I do find the second bathroom tiling/ wall detail unfortunate, particularly for a bathroom, I just can't look at it without thinking someone defecated and smeared it all over the walls and floor!
We are getting new windows and having a stain removed this month. We have no tile. I wanted tiles. No one will put tile over a stained floor, and we stained floors in 2008, and it is flaking off a little at a time. Making changes is not easy. I have to remove furniture and art. Grinding concrete so the stain is not there anymore so we might put tile on the floor one day (we are nearly 70, so who knows). Is this going to be a nightmare? Probably. I may be making the biggest mistake of my life. I can always buy rugs.
I am afraid these videos just don’t stack up against the likes of Alexandra Gater, regardless of the talents of the designer. At least give the guy some money to do the rental friendly makeover. Then let him do the designer session on how he would do a full reno.
It just goes to show you how subjective taste is and how so much advice you get is junk. We were told subway tile is classic, white will bring light into a room.
4:38 - hate, hate, hate cold lighting. Why is it getting manufactured in a first place and owning all the shelves? Why? People avoid it and boycott it! It's not only ugly it has negative physical impact on the eyes and psychologically very distressing
Next video, please: Kitchen makeovers for $1K, $5K, 10k and 20K budgets. Happy to submit photos of my 1910s kitchen!
Yes! I'd watch that! Mine's ancient, too. ❤
For which location though? Even the US cities vary widely in construction prices.
$1k kitchen makeover is a very hard challenge, not much you could do with that budget
@@WarrenF You can paint. You can put down simple vinyl flooring. You can change lighting. You can declutter. Altogether under 1k.

Nope, me too. I think they both aren't to great.
Yep I found them ugly. Each to their own.
Not my taste at all. The orange stone is particularly ugly. The large black and white checkerboard pattern looks institutional.
I love Darren, but I found both bathrooms to be unsettling. I appreciate his point about toilets, but black is very impractical.
Because you don’t have personality, bestie
Can I tell you that the last two videos featuring the lovely Darren have been JUST on time, I mean it. So grateful!
Getting rid of the tub is ok if you have a second bath with one, but if not, for resale a tub is a pretty desirable feature
agree, any house with 2 or more bedrooms is marketed to families, and most people with young kids want at least one tub in the house.
I feel sorry for people who live in homes built for others. Built for these future buyers they haven't met yet
@@salamistaMost people just dont want to go thru the hassle of installing a tub. You'd be surprised how many people will skip a house based on something like having a tub or what kind of tub it is.
Always a pleasure to see Darren! And thank you so much for including renter-friendly design ideas that really do make an impact, it's inspiring.
Wut? How is any of this 'renter friendly?'
Opposite.
These are very specific overhauls that would infuriate a landlord.
Colored toilet?

Darren carries this channel, he's got something about him that tells me he's gonna get huge in the world of architecture in the future.
He's back!!! Darren is the best way to start the day!
Maybe the remodels look better in person 😅

yea he was a lot better in Space Savers than in this series... We need him back on there!!
That orange tile with the black fixtures... absolutely gorgeous, genius, gag-worthy!! Darren does it again! 🧡💛🖤💛🧡
Love Darren but I'm not feeling either of these 😕
I am just picking stuff for our bathroom renovation and I love the metro tiles. A bit scared now, but I completely agree on the lighting. Cold and white lights should be outlawed. What are people thinking?
I’m a designer and I love the integrated lighting medicine cabinets!
Me too! I love also that it's pretty much the whole wall. I may be applying this to my own bathroom for sure :)
Grasscloth in a bathroom? Won't that absorb too much moisture?
real grasscloth will. they make faux grasscloth that can be used in moist environments.
Agree, although, if I had to choose, I'd take the in-your-face chequered tiles over the repurposed slaughterhouse wall wainscoting, for sure.
We need a compilation of Darren just ripping paper non stop.
i think i would have liked it if the video introduced the issue for both, but showed the whole process for both one at a time and then the reveals at the end.
are the afters satire?
7:04 Goals: A bathroom that looks like a slaughterhouse ❤
That color. In a man's bathroom. Conjures up things that as a parent to boys I do not want to think about. ;-) No. No. No.
I really liked the colors and how fun it looked before the pink and yellow was cute
OMG I love the outcome, both of them... I think Aarons might be too "edgy" for people, but it is sooooo cool and simple atst. I really love Daren's tips for reno on a budget ❤
I love Darren Jett in videos!! Space Saver episodes with him are my favorite!! And Noz!!
Thank you AD for bringing Darren back. He is awesome!
He never misses. When I get a house one day I will hire him.
Orange tile and a black toilet are a no for me. I think I will get tired of them in less than a year
My bathroom has peachy prange walls with I love with my daylight bulbs, the walls give the warmer glow, wholst the lighting feels like natural light which I love.
I would love advice on my vintage 1945 kitchen and pink tile bathroom.
Is it actually ok to cover tiles with stickers? Is it rental-friendly? Can I remove them later, when I decide to leave my flat?
Yes if it’s not in a bathtub or shower like they did in this lol it will just peel off because of the moisture
@lilleoelle ok thanks 👌

Hello
Just FYI, I bought daylight bulbs thinking they would be a soft white (not because of this video btw), and they were serial killer blue/white. Hospital vibes. So yea, just thought I would let you know.
Loving this series!
The “before” was much better than the “after.”
..i like the first bathroom with chequered pattern tile, but would not go with black & white... i'm not convinced with the floor and wall stone.
Thank you again for the final renders
love these!! Darren Jett is the best thing about this channel - please never stop getting him on!
In my humble opinion, both were better before.
Wonderful use of space. Luxurious is an understatement.
This was so helpful... great presentation !
I love both design🤩
Sorry, I do appreciate a designer pushing the boundaries and having some fun, but I do find the second bathroom tiling/ wall detail unfortunate, particularly for a bathroom, I just can't look at it without thinking someone defecated and smeared it all over the walls and floor!
What is the program he used 4 rendering wow😍🔥🔥🔥🔥
I definitely agree! Interior designers are problem solvers. Great concepts! 👏🏼😲

Ahhh Darren, you never disappoint ❤
Nothing wrong with the tile!. I would move toilet outside the door for more privacy
Darren is the most contemporary designer! Out of this world
checkers was dope but idk restroom number 2....
Great viideo!!
Yay, Darren!
I dislike both, unfortunately. Plus the peel and stick in a bathtub is just unrealistic, it will peel off.

Subway tile reminds me of a prison. Never understood this trend.
@@orbitaljunkieoh my gosh I've been saying the same thing for years.
That's not Classic subway. It wasn't flat.
Darren is the best in AD. I wish I could afford his help
I love the warmth of the stone in the renovation
Aaron's reno looks like the serial killer's now. Vinyl stickers are never the answer...wait for a bigger budget sheesh.
He was going for renter-friendly changes.
4:38 - hate, hate, hate cold lighting. Why is it getting manufactured in a first place and owning all the shelves? Why? People avoid it and boycott it! It's not only ugly it has negative physical impact on the eyes and psychologically very distressing
No one who has children will rent or buy a space without a tub.
llllluv-luv-luv-luv-luv him! ❤🔥
U need white toilet to see chit marks so yew can scrub harder
aaron caramel bukake
Not a fan of the black toilet.
Actually it’s ugly
Honestly, but not the best options
wallpaper in a bathroom is a horrible idea, super unpractical

yuck
