They started recording Master of Puppets a couple weeks after this interview. I can just imagine all the ideas swimming around in their heads during this time, the creative juices flowing without a care in the world. These two kids were just about to peak, creatively speaking.

While Metallica were widely associated with thrash metal in the early days, they knew that they had to diversify and not be confined just to that realm and worked accordingly. Day on the Green definitely gave the band a push that was already in motion, leading to opening for Ozzy and the rest is history.

It shows how introverted and reserved by nature James is and he's always been that way. He could also be a bit tired and just wanting a bit of rest but James is known for being very reserved and guarded. Yet he's an absolute beast on stage. Often the most flamboyant performers are actually very introverted and reserved as we have seen with Freddie Mercury. Metallica remain the world ambassadors of heavy metal together with Iron Maiden today.

They mention a really important distinction between them and most metal bands up until then which was they took to the stage in ordinary clothes rather than costume/leathers, and they didn't sing about the devil.. It was a big part of their rough and ready more "street" appeal.
When you have a partner as Lars who let you talk and help you if you don't have anytthing to say, over time you start to feel so confident a little by little you become someone like James who talk much better now

@@eazye519 James was very shy as a teen and younger guy, thats why Dave Mustaine would do all the talking on stage in between songs when he was in the band. Also Lars has talked about how quiet and shy James was when they met....but he grew into the role of being a front man, so good for him 💪

This is real Metallica, the Metallica I loved as a teenager, no radio, no MTV, just pure underground aggressive heavy metal, wish they'd have stayed that way because now they suck after the mainstream stole them from us.
Well, Get over it :) they are still producing quality music. Of course music changed over time, you cannot make Ajfa two times, each period was unique.

Metallica used to have some of the longest songs ever! but they were awesome! you were on a mission when you were playing along with them... some liked it some hated it? I loved it! I miss and will always love the old Metallica... very inspiring!

They mention a really important distinction between them and most metal bands up until then which was they took to the stage in ordinary clothes rather than costume/leathers, and they didn't sing about the devil.. It was a big part of their rough and ready more "street" appeal.
