Lars is a born leader, so confident and focused as young as he was. He deserves a lot of credit...Metallica has lasted longer than most marriages.. so much to admire about them.

All the Lars hatred is just fallout from butthurt napster users. He's a superb spokesperson for the band, a fantastic drummer and he's got musical vision that has helped shape some of the best songs ever written. Get over the Lars hatred and give the man the credit he has earned.

I'm so glad James and Lars found each other. They are perfect together. It's also very interesting to see how James has grown into himself over the years. He was so shy and immature back then. Lars is impressively well-spoken and intelligent especially at only 21 years old. There is no doubt there would be no Metallica if it were not for Lars.

There's no doubt Lars is the brain of the band but i'm sure he also helped James to step forward and gain confidence as the band had a growing audience and the sound they developed got better and better. You're telling me. I don't think any other metal bands from that thrash metal crop ever wrote anything as compelling, dynamic and multi-faceted as Fade To Black. While Metallica were widely associated with thrash metal in the early days, they knew that they had to diversify and not be confined just to that realm and worked accordingly.
      Brilliant entrepreneurs indeed.

This is one of the most interesting interviews not only because it was done when they were so young with just two albums out and just getting started but also the fact that James in comparison to Lars hardly says a word yet he's the frontman, principal songwriter (together with Lars) and the primary lyricist.
It shows how introverted and reserved by nature James is and he's always been that way. He could also be a bit tired and just wanting a bit of rest but James is known for being very reserved and guarded. Yet he's an absolute beast on stage.
Often the most flamboyant performers are actually very introverted and reserved as we have seen with Freddie Mercury.
Metallica remain the world ambassadors of heavy metal together with Iron Maiden today.
