    Hey - Command (Apple) + Click is to delete the selected points you are arrowed over on the canvas. You do not have to redo the entire keying. Alt + Click creates the subtractive zones (as you expressed). Solid video, hopefully improvements in their edge feathering in the future. The outline "glow" edges created by this mask as it stands are pesky! We need more options for greater feathering and spread (+100). I'd also like to see a faster "render", and not having to redo processing if we change a key frame. It's a great start however, a few refinements, and it might be better than MRoto.

      @@ChrisCoelho Chris .... I added more commentary. When I am rotoscanning in video ProRes 4444 it will only do 1,000 frames and then stop. That is 16 seconds in earth time. Not much, and a hassle if you are rotoscanning a background out of a 20 minute video. You can drop a keyframe at the end of that 1,000th frame, then re-select and continue on, but it is not like mRotoAI, AI Backgrounder, Keypr and maybe others that will do the entire video if that is what you want. mRotoAI slows down tremendously into the rotoscan run and actually wiser to split the clip and run each clip, in the end it saves a lot of time. Still no perfect, all-in-one solution that has no subscription, is super fast, lets you do the whole clip, is accurate and gives one the right amount of control. Early day in AI assisted rotoscanning.

    Really hoping for an absolute Killer FCP update towards the end of the year that makes all of these plugins obsolete. Final Cut is just dragging behind in so many areas right now. But I am very hopeful that it will very soon be the absolute No Brainer for any Creator and One Person Crew with heightened demands that it has the potential to be!

    mRotoAI was cool until I saw it was subscription based. Would've bought it immediately like I have many of their other plugins. Too bad I'll never support companies that take advantage of their customers like that. Sad to see so many going that route in this industry.

    I used Davinci resolve to rotoscope I think it's one of the best by far. I use final cut to do my captions and cut video but I edit in Davinci. In davinci I can group a 5 sec clip and add transitions but in final cut I can't. It doesn't recognize that there's enough time for the transition. Good video.

    Both look go but I think I'll hold on to see if anyone else enters the market or Apple provide it as part of FCP. I can do this because I don't really need to rotoscope often. Subscriptions? Forget it!!! Too many companies have jumped on the subscription model but most of us can't afford to subscribe to every subscription service. I believe people are moving away from Adobe because of their subscription model. I don't recall any of these companies dropping their prices when downloading overtook software distribution by DVD. Moving to the downloading model must have saved companies like Adobe a small fortune. Just a bit of a Scottish rant! Great video as always Dylan.

    I tried root magic but the timeline and button are at 25% opacity, I didn't have luck with it functionally, I found the scene removal to work better, if any wholes show up I figured I could duplicate the video and then use a mask to reveal the original video below the masked video where there are wholes. works pretty good, and is about as fast considering the keyframe oddness

    Thanks for this, Dylan. However, a follow-up video to include Keyper would be worthwhile for your viewers, in my opinion. In terms of *speed*, it is unbeatable. I have been using it extensively on *one-hour-duration* videos since its launch and it operates *instantly*. The tracking time for the rotoscoping tools you're reviewing here would *really* add up for longer clips. (Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with the makers of the Keyper plugin. I bought it when it first appeared (on the basis of a video review back then by Mark Spencer of Ripple Training.)

      @TaylorGumby 2 місяці тому +1

      Yeah, Dylan has actually made many videos talking about Keyper, we use it constantly!
      it’s definitely an ultra handy tool - however it’s very limited with what you can mask out (can’t mask animals or vehicles, can’t manually add sections or remove sections, etc)
      So it’s amazing for using on things like talking heads - but wouldn’t be the best comparison with these two plugins.

    Watching this video actually has me wanting to fully test out RotoBrush 3 in After Effects. While I do own/use FCP, DR and PP/AE, lately I've been using PP a lot more. Judging from the video, mRotoAI does have the edge on quality. From what I see here, RotoMatic results are unusable. Hoping Adobe can bring some of that AI magic to rotoscoping direct to PP in the future.

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  2 місяці тому

      RotoBrush 3 is by far the best out of all the options I have used! But it also comes at the cost of being extremely slow and unresponsive. Generally with RotoBrush, I have to do all the roto work, then export that, then re-import, and hide the original Roto layer, just to get decent performance. But if you're needing the absolute best (especially when working with hair) that's where I would go!

This is a huge limitation as, in my case, it can only render 30 seconds of video before it stops. Hi!! Somewhat unrelated to this but I have no one else to ask.
    Do you know if there is a way to add the “audio” movement behavior on a drop zone and publish it as a generator to FCP? This is so that I can then link it to an audio from FCP instead of doing it in motion.
    I hope that makes sense. When I’ve tried publishing the Audio behavior, I only get a checkbox in FCP that says “Audio” so I’m unable to link it to an audio source in FCP. Thanks in advance!
