Late for the party I know. But the "New York" warehouse is actually in Windsor Connecticut. I live about 40 minutes from it. It's massive. I also know people who have worked there and they said it was horrible.
Crazy story here in Idaho they cannot get a cement contractor to pour the job due to their housing boom so Amazon built a temporary cement Pouring facility and had a third-party come in from another state and build it for them.
Massive FC like that and the floor manager at the control center will still send out that same message to everyone's screens "Alright y'all, break is in 30 min, make sure you're back at your station scan to scan".
So correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the new fulfillment centers are setup in a much more efficient way. The newer ones such as the one I work at have it setup like this. 1:Truck unloaders 2: dedicated automatic decant (box openers) 3: goes to all 5 floors for stow 4:pickers 5:Pack We also have all the fancy stuff
The fulfillment center I'm at doesn't use all the fancy technology. It is just us on sorting and diverting lines, which eventually goes to the fluid unloading into the trucks. All done by hand at our location in Lacey WA. I've been told it is basically a one of a kind Amazon warehouse as the only other one that operates as such is somewhere in California. No robots doin nothing for us here....Yet.

very cool footage but the idea that this is some crucial hub is ridiculous lol. there are 110 fulfillment centers in the US, this place could get nuked tomorrow and the only way you'd know it is because your package was a day or two late if you happened to live in arizona
I don't understand how it physically makes more sense to store items of different sizes randomly next to each other. I would think stacking items of the same size would save more space instread of having just a pile of stuff.
"Amazon likes to keep its working process a secret" - no it doesn't, live and virtual tours are available to anyone. Plus, there are loads of videos on youtube that describe and explain it in close detail.
Companies like Amazon are modern day slavery. Their whole idea is to make it harder for workers , ofcourse they won't make it easier with robots , they will drain every last bit of life in you for low wages.
Is anyone can tell , what facility is it? On 34 sec video shows they are using netting for catching amnesty from sorter. I would like to find out about it more to apply in my building
Symbotic is faster and advancing. Supports WalMart. Yes, automated warehouses / distribution centers will be the competitive edge in the future. Coming to ocean ports in the future. EVERY PRODUCT MOVES THROUGH SHIPPING AND DISTRIBUTION CENTERS. Humans will support robots. Less injuries, faster, more reliable, less theft, far more efficient all at less cost.
Some of the third party vendors are listing items at such inflated costs to cover expenses it does not seem logical to sell. Seems like it would destroy the Amazon business model.
Not necessarily.. Of the third party vendor is the only one selling that particular item they can put whatever price tag they want on it. People will pay for it.
It doesn’t explain adequately how my item is picked. I know there is a man called a picker but that really doesn’t explain how my mirror has been picked.
The Picker gets the location of the item on his scanner he goes to the location scans the shelf than the item place the item into a tote and scans the tote that how picking works
Watch around 6:30. Those robots bring items to a picking station in most cases. The picker will remove the item from the robotic, then scan it to a yellow tote an put the yellow tote on a conveyor belt to be taken over to the pack station.
There’s a 3.8 million square feet one in New York now. Officially the second largest building on the planet
mount juliet is the biggest one where i work as i know of we are 3.8 million new and a advanced robotics.

Incredible. Jeff can be proud.
1:30 determines which size of box is required….then totally ignores that recommendation & puts Yur item in a box 10 times larger 😂
The fullfillment center in Colorado Springs is the largest in the world. I work there since day 1
It was until Tennessee and Connecticut opened. Now they have a 4.1 million sq/ft center under construction in California.
More than half of those items come from Chinese vendors in China.
