Thanks for this detailed instruction! I think you've identified the reason why my picking foot is to the side instead of in line with my skating foot. I can't wait to try the jump again on the ice!
A scooter push! Finally, it has a name 😂 (my coach: here, do this thing) I ended up preferring the mohawk entry because I found it easier to pick in the right place. I'm trying to visualise if the leg crossing exercise works with a mohawk? I would really like to have a nice air position.
Sehr ausführliche Erklärung 👍🤗, Dankeschön ⛸️ Mein Flip ist noch ganz „frisch“, werde jetzt korrigieren, dein Flip sieht so stylisch aus… möchte ich auch so… 😉
I wish I saw this sooner! by trying to learn flip without my coach around, I have developed the very bad habit of staying too long on my toe pick for half a rotation before I leave the ice 😂 Will try to fix it with your exercises!
This was a really great video, very very helpful. I really appreciate the time and detail you put into this video, I think the format was perfect. Excited to try these exercises on my next session! Thank you!
Thank you for posting this excellent lesson! One thing my coach has been encouraging me to think about regarding my toepick is to try to tap slightly on the OUTSIDE of the toepick. It feels scary to do so, as if I might twist or roll my ankle if I'm too far on the outside edge of the toepick. She said that by thinking about picking in on the outside edge of the toepick, it will bring my free leg more in alignment behind me on the takeoff. I had a bad fall several months ago when practicing a lutz jump, however, and I badly twisted my ankle on the takeoff because I was too high up on the toepick and I ended up rolling my ankle and falling on it. Is this a similar risk on the flip jump if I aim too high on the top toepick and too far over on the outside of the toepick?
I had a similar injury on Lutz, but my timing was off for that time period so my ankle was rolling as a result of too much force rather than thinking outside of the pick. I think that’s the main issue for injury is the force that ankle is taking. With good timing it it very light and minimal risk if injury, with poor timing a lot of force is going through that toe pick and any weakness in the ankle will cause the foot to roll. In answer to your question yes it’s almost the same toe pick feeling as Lutz so treat each with similar care. Ankle strength is worth considering, as is looking at the jump timing. Make sure you’re on the way up before you hit the toe, it should feel very light. An outside edge toe pick can encourage rotation to initiate closer to the landing axis, but I wouldn’t do it too much for risk of injury. Stay safe 👍🏼

Yes it would! Mohawk, toes cross on a line and land! Let me know how it goes!
Спасибо большое за Ваш урок, благодаря Вам у меня получился очень воздушный и мягкий флип. Оказывается и в мой 21 год можно прыгать!)
Brilliant! Great to hear! 21 is young your fine! 😉

Yes quick before your coach sees 😆 hope they will be impressed!
Same here. My lessons are infrequent, and I’ve made all the errors mentioned in the video. Now trying to fix them one by one…. Great video, thanks!
Thank you for the lefty walk through!!!
I got you 😉

You’re welcome! How’s yours going??
Fab video 🙂

This is so helpful, thank you! Will you do one of these for lutz as well?
Yes, soon! I want to get that one right, lots of ideas! It will be thorough!
