      Watch out for that if it’s on the wrong cylinder for a while it’ll start having affects with your timing. And everyone knows the headaches and how expensive it is to fix the timing on your car.

    Getting ready to do this on the weekend. Maybe fuel injectors in a month or so.. Had a weird misfire last week that lasted 5 minutes but no Misfire codes when I put the reader on. Just EVAP system code, so no clue. I need new spark plugs anyways so I figured I'd start here first... I bought the uhhhh spark plugs that are for engines with small mods such as even a cold air intake. So hope it all works out .

    Great video as always. Quick question: do spark plugs get damaged from close proximity with a magnet? I'm asking because of what you mentioned in the video

    • @ERICSDIYGARAGE
      @ERICSDIYGARAGE  4 роки тому +2

      thank you so much! The magnet alone should not damage the spark plug, I didn't use it to install the new ones because it's hard to screw the spark with the magnet and I find it easier to use a hose that can grip the spark plug

    • @audioamateur

      @@ERICSDIYGARAGE ok thanks for clearing that up. These two vids were perfect because I was already planning to change my spark plugs and also maybe do the valve cover gaskets as well. Do you know if ignition coil performance degrades with time or is it more a matter of replacing them when they die?

    • @ERICSDIYGARAGE
      @ERICSDIYGARAGE  4 роки тому

      @@audioamateur I'm glad that they will come in handy, from what I've seen people have nothing but issues with they change the coils because they use aftermarket coils that die quickly and eventually go back the the original ones that they were using. I would leave them and if you have misfires or any other issue after replacing the spark plugs than maybe swap them out but if not just leave the original ones

  • @p1mpjunior12
    @p1mpjunior12 2 роки тому +1

    Nice tutorial. That whole noodle hose on the spark plug kinda baffled me... A wiggle and an extension seem like a better option just becareful as you drop the plug down because with that noodle or an extension you'll still damage the plug with a good enough smack

    • @ERICSDIYGARAGE
      @ERICSDIYGARAGE  2 роки тому

      The issue with sockets is that over time they wear out and the rubber part or metal part that keeps the spark plug from falling ends up failing and they stop working this is going to work all time in my opinion

    I put my Infinity G35 coupe on the computer says cylinder Force misfiring code brought up the code PO304 I'm not a mechanic otherwise I wouldn't be watching videos LOL but I have done a lot of work to my car because of videos just a quick question should I start with the spark plugs and the injectors first cuz I know it can get worse than that as far as more money if it's something else might check engine light was flickering off and on and then finally stayed on all in the same day? Any information would be great

    • @ERICSDIYGARAGE
      @ERICSDIYGARAGE  2 роки тому +1

      Start with your spark plugs if it doesn't go away move the coil park to another cylinder if the code comes up with the cylinder number that you moved the coil pack to than it's a bad coil pack if that doesn't work it could be a bad injector
