Online certifications are getting more and more popular as a way to either get a job, learn more skills in your current job to get a raise, or to learn skills you need to transition into another career.
Google certificates are some of the best, especially for beginners that want to dip their toe in and figure out if a career is good for them without having to pay thousands for tuition and waste years of their life in order to find out.
At the very least a certificate on your resume or a certification on your linkedin can be a great way for you to signal to your employer that you are proactive and like to stay up to date on the latest changes in technology.
In today’s video I’ll be referring to the google professional certificate training programs that are hosted on coursera
So, are certificates from google worth it? - Well I did an entire video on this, and in short, yes they are a very good value overall.
What happened is google identified that there were certain positions that they were having a lot of trouble filling because there simply weren’t enough candidates that had the necessary skills. Colleges were way too slow to adjust to the evolving job market (big surprise there lol). So google created their own certificate program in order to fill the gaps and create qualified candidates.
So you might be thinking “How can I get a certificate from google?” - Well currently they’re hosted on the website coursera, and you can check out links to the certificates above. Some certificates they offer are free, and some are very inexpensive, a coursera membership (at the time of writing this) is about $39/month.
What certificates can you get through google? - Quite a few actually. Watch the video to find some of the best ones :)
Enjoy!

How can i take my certificate@@user-sangsangd1v
The 'No certificate or degree required" statement means you can take the course without any background knowledge in any field. That means the certificate is 'Beginner friendly"
yes
Ah I thought it meant you could get a certificate to use to get hired by companies
course is free?
@@Thelilantjr that will be great. That's what am doing infact. Am almost done with the certificate
@@ThoughtsMorality You can apply for financial aid, so you can get it for free
Google IT Support a good cert to get if your brand new to IT Support. However, no one will ask for it as a job requirement. You will might need comptia a+. So I always recommend combining both certs to make you well rounded in IT Support.
hey is there anyway I can get I contact with you? im looking for some guidance
Thanks for the advice.
Bruh. The last quiz they want you to do is something about security that’s way over of IT Support for beginners. Google is a good resource for certs but for IT they have you for the last quiz is to create “Creating A Company Culture For Security” I hadn’t learned anything for creating a company culture for security at all. In these courses that I took.
Certs are seen as the key thing you need in the world of IT. Most won't hire you if you don't have any certs, as certs show you have the ability to get the information for tasks you perform.
Portfolio is what gets you in, the more projects the better

Very cool man - just found your channel and I LOVE that you're trying to not only help people find jobs but also find a meaningful path into various IT fields. Well done!! Seriously! You're helping people change the course of their lives and that will have far reaching impacts. Here's one thing I think you might want to also focus on, the difference in IT jobs as they relate to various sized organizations. So from small businesses, to medium sized businesses, and all the way up to the enterprise class organizations. I would flavor that with the type of work a person wants to do, from solo gig contracting (where jobs are turnkey "we'll pay you X to do Y") to solo longer term contracting ("We want you for 6 months"), to working for a consulting company to working as a W-2 employee. Anyways - looking forward to watching more of your vids. Keep up the great work.
Awesome suggestions and thank you :)
Very clean and concise,Shane. Thank you.
Thank you, sir, this is the first time I have watched one of your videos and since I'm about to do a career reboot, now might be a suitable time to find and gain another cert. Again, thanks, and God bless,
You should make more of this type of videos Shane! Very informative
Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks for making this video, Shane! Hoping you'd make more. This is super useful
More to come!
Loved the video! Keep the information coming please!
Certs are what you choose to make out of them! Build on them and make it work for you. Entry level will hire with certs and just build on top of that
Loving these Coursera videos, keep them coming!
More to come!
Thank you for humble advice and great presentation. I’m online looking up google certs now. Again, thanks for your career search and help.
7:04 It was too late for me when I realised that. 😅
It took me around 2 months to complete it but just when I was heading towards the end of it, I had realised it was not for me so I didn't do the Capstone project and I am still trying to figure out what I can do/what I might enjoy doing to have a career in IT.
Could you make an update video? Since now there’s Digital Marketing and E-commerce course now and we would appreciate it if you could uploaded an updated version of this topic
I did the UX cert. I didnt feel it was enough to get a job. But it got me into grad school!
could i please know about UX certificate
Man! you read people's minds. Awesome content this week bro!
I try haha
Thank you so much for sharing this information. I truly appreciate it! :)
Coming from a telecommunications engineering background , PM was the position with highest rotation and for me less desired, even some times I had to wear that hat, because every project needs a PM but they come and go, and that is for a reason. so I’m not surprised of the many job openings.
Wow, I found you today, and I value your honesty. Thank you, I"ll be your follower from now.
This is gold. Thanks Shane.
You're welcome Lauren!
I started a data analysis course to keep myself busy at work when it was conpletely slow. It is very informative and not a lot of money. I never finished because I started working another project but now that I've seen this video. I realized I will finish what I started!😊
Great Great insights. This video worth watching for those who are taking GCCs.
Health care worker here. You’re right, the pandemic has been brutal. Thank you for your videos because I’m looking to change my life. I love my job but I know I can’t physically do it forever. I’m trying to find something else I enjoy and can do remotely.

Thanks for the helpful info!
I appreciate your videos!! I'm in the process of totally changing my career. I have 2 degrees. One is a degree in early childhood education and the other is a bachelor's in business management. I had my own daycare for about 15 years and it was very successful. Due to some family tragedies in 2022 i decided it was time for a change and ended up closing down my daycare. It was definitely the right move for me. I started a business cleaning short term rentals (air bnbs) and ive been doing that while i figure out what i want to be when i grow up 😂 i don't want to go back into early childhood or daycare as a teacher, but open to a supervisory position. However, I'm very interested in a wfh type job. With my business degree and experience, i hope that would give me a leg up, but the google certs sound like a great way to dip my toe in and see exactly where i should focus or if it just isnt for me at all. I truly appreciate your videos and have found a lot of value in the info you share! Pray for me because i need to figure this out and make this change 🙏 😊
Love the support and thanks for sharing your story. Rooting for you!
Hello Shane I was wondering to see as it says in your video the Google certifications are free but they are not cuz when I went to register on Coursera it says I can only do a 7 month free trial and then pay $49 a month did they change? I was trying to get the certification for the project management on Google. Please get back to me thank you.
For the past 3 weeks I've been going back and forth between the UX Design Cert and the PM Cert. After watching this video, I've decided to do the PM Certificate. I didn't realize the UX Design field is so competitive/saturated and I'm just trying to further my career. Thank you.😉
It's 40 bucks a month lol, why not do both? You could already have had a decent amount done in that 3 weeks

Hi, Nika! Appreciate the support.
This guy is smart. And he is a good speaker and presenter. I would take a course that he teaches.
Thanks for the kind words!
Thanks for the much needed information
Glad it was helpful!
The PM certificate is good because you'll at least have the basics. At any job they're going to show you how to do the job the way they want it done. At a minimum, they want you to at least know the terminology so if they say something, you can at least understand the task at hand.
Is the PM cert equivalent to the PMP certification?
@@shenanigans96 Noo
@@shenanigans96
You cannot attempt a PMP unless you have previous work experience as a PM. if you’re just getting started out, I recommend getting this Google certificate and instead of the PMP, take the test to become CAPM certified. It’s the entry level version of the PMP basically.
I have a bachelor degree in business management but I don't have any work experience, do you think this pm course will help me to get the skills I need for a job?
Thanks for sharing vital information.
thank you for sharing your thoughts Shane!
Very informative and encouraging..thanks
Much love and respect for what you’re doing for everyone. You fasho helping me a lot 💯
My pleasure! Good luck!
Hey shane thanks for the great video 🤝🤩 Could you do a video on the best cloud certifications ?
Great suggestion!.
BRO YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!
The 3 people I know with a certificate in something makin more money than the 5 people i know with a degree. Now let that sink in
I was hoping to see GCP certs but overall good list for entry level certs
Having a bit of trouble picking one of the 5, I would appreciate it if they had some test you could take that would narrow down what you might fit into. I feel it might not be my field because I have found that you have to take too many classes to get involved in IT. For the others, I am not Artistic but a logical type of thinker. Was thinking UX Design, Project Management.

So I may take the advice and go with PM, Or the other choices I want to review the others real quick. What would be of help is a quick question guide to ask where you might fit.
Wanted to say I appreciate the review and your hard work on the classes and certifications. I am really interested in coding but not sure if I have the time to put into it to learn it or what the level is to learn it.
Not going to lie I know nothing about coding and with google it’s easy to learn FOR ME!! I took a IT Course and didn’t feel like I got out knowing much once again did it with Google and it’s eye opening I learned more on there vs my class
For what I understand - it only means that a company such as Google can open up their own accredited college or university. In 6 months, certain certificates will be valid. Maybe not all of them since it takes knowing the computer and that could take a few years.
Very nicely explained thanks
Valuable and informative
Hey shane great video! I know this not related to the video but could you make a video on Medical coding or have you before ?
Stay tuned for that
I was hoping you would talk about googles digital marketing certificate too
I’m currently taking the IT Support Cert so I can get into WGU. It also solidified the fact I do want to get into IT
I didn't know you needed that to get in? Which degree are you considering?
These are great options if you want to set your career without breaking the bank!
Agreed!
People do not think you just gonna complete this and think your ready. This certificate just goes with your other qualifications such as experience or degree.
Agreed!
So if you dont have a degree/experience, are these certifications gonna be pointless to get when applying for jobs?
@@sapphirelane1714 Exactly. That's why I don't like these certification courses that give people the false idea that anyone can land a 60k+ job just by completing a 6-month course. A university degree with internships will obviously look way better on the resume than a certificate from an online class. People need to wake tf up and realize that in order to get a high-paying job with competive benefits and compensations, they gotta do it the old-fashioned way instead of looking for shortcuts and easier routes.
@@unkyonwn it won’t be pointless since you do learn some skills but companies are gonna want more outta you.
@@zeuskronos2018 Yeah I know. It's just that these cert classes don't hold much value on their own but people like to advertise them as "take this course and immediately land a job that pays 80k upon completion of the course" which is absolute bullshit.
Thanks for your efforts
Congratulations on your channel, I think you are very good at explaining the different paths one might follow with these courses. And also thanks for your other videos where you're helping people find ways to earn extra money. I'm following and recommending this channel.🙏🙏🙏💯💯💯💯👏👏

What I don't like from the Data analyst course: Google sheets instead Excel, Sandbox big query instead My SQL, R instead Pyton
Thank you for this feedback. I'm thinking about taking this course, and it's good to know what to expect ahead of time. I'm also surprised they don't teach Excel.
hi, please review Google cloud certification too in the same way. maybe in the next video
I did the UX certificate, it's useful and pretty good, but definitely not enough to get a job. It can be useful to start transitioning into a different role or maybe it can get you an internship, but if you're trying to get a job, don't count on it.
What's your next step then? I'm planning on doing it, but I'm concerned about market saturation as well, especially here in Southern California.
@@the512og Honestly not too sure, I did it as a side thing. But I'd imagine you could use it as a starting point to build out a portfolio. It definitely gives you that, and you can use it to maybe freelance or just design stuff on your own.
@darkwoodmovies I was considering taking the UX Design course too. I have no previous tech skills/knowledge. That does worry me even though they say it’s not a requirement. I was wondering if you already had some tech background? Or are you in a completely different field? And do you plan to work in UX Design at this point? Thanks in advance for your feedback ☺️
@@zoechloe6648 I am in tech, so I did have some background there. That said, the only real advantage I probably had is having worked with designers before, but the content of the course really doesn't need any prior knowledge. It's really oriented around doing research and learning how to navigate designing a product from start to finish. The only applicable "tech" background you'll need is to learn the software, which isn't too complicated.
Please do a series on all of the coursera certs.
I might! So stay tuned
Watching it from India ❤️

It’s totally awesome! I have 4 Google Certificates from Google. It went smooth sailing for me. That was a great choice/ option for me.
Did they help you find jobs upon completion?
Did they help you get a job?
After seeing this I'm more inclined to take the UX Design cert., however other than the tech industry where else is UX needed? I live in Southern California, and let's face it, the biggest industries other than Healthcare, Education and Finance. The remaining major ones out here are Transportation, Warehouse, Logistics, Leisure, Hospitality, Tourism and Media and Entertainment. I haven't seen too many openings for UX in any of those industries other than Media and some Entertainment.
Thank you so much sir
