@nathanknight6042 "no one" only if you haven't tried and haven't stopped trying. I know people who have gotten jobs in tech rn through Google and even a comptia cert or both. Also it depends on your area too. It's not black and white like you think. You just need to expand your resources, portfolio and linkedln. I did the data analytics and you definitely need more to learn SQL unless you already have a foundation in it. I was brand new to the industry and it needed to go deeper and you definitely need to do study of the industry in addition to the Google certification.
What did u do to get more knowledge of SQL? I know absolutely nothing about data analytics but i want to change careers for something in tech and high demand

I finished my IT Support a few weeks ago my IT Support, while I was studying Data Analytics( almost finished) ....and Cybersecurity. Well, 100 % agree. Many here around talking about fast finished, etc . But the main question is. Did they learn something from that? .. I mean , I agree, yes we need to study and learn more besides that and add more knowledge. SQL , CLEANING. FILTERING, etc .... Great video! I received the Google Data Analytics Certificate and landed a promotion to a different department from a Jr (no SQL) to a Mid (SQL) Data Analyst. Because the certificate is a bit unknown, when I applied for the job, I included a one-pager of what each course covered.
How much did you pay for the certificate?
Majored in Project Management in college and it worked great for me and if you combine that with being an overall self starter you should be able to get great managerial positions/be running your own businesses right out of the gate.

Dude!! Next you're going to say that whining on tik Tok is not an effective way to go about a job search. 😂😄
hey! how can I connect with you I really need someone to talk about project management someone experienced
I'm from the UK and the way you say data is just perfect.
For everyone asking how to do the certificates for free, you will need to audit each individual course, and at the end you can use the 1 week free trial to take the quizzes, complete the labs, and gain your certificate.
this is exaclty the info I was looking for thanks!
I'm currently taking the Digital marketing and e-commerce certificate. I don't think it gives enough detail to do any one part of the profession, for example, he SEO portion was maybe 2 modules long. If someone is looking to build an e-commerce side hustle then I would recommend it.
The Google Analytics and IT looks promising and I'll be taking that after the marketing certificate. There are also advanced analytics and business intelligence certificates if you want to go further in the analytics field.
Does this course require peer grading? I completed the Google PM course; it required periodic review and grading assignments from other students in the course.
@@MarshaPierceTomlin I just finished the Digital Marketing course and I believe there were 2 Peer reviewed assignments. I think peers take pretty easy on each other so no need to worry about that and the assignments were pretty easy. P.S. I've started the Data Analytics course, and it's pretty good so far.
These courses are good for people that need to be handheld in order to learn about a position. I do not recommend getting these if a person is thinking they will get a job based on having them. This should be for enjoyment only.
you're right, it just gives you the foundation for every aspect of marketing, I am going to taking an in depth course about copywriting, AI, email marketing, and mastering sales funnels too
That's because it's a foundational certificate. You need to go after the next one for specialisation

I did data analytics and project management certs by them. I have a job and they didn't care about them at all. It did fill the part of me that likes knowledge, though. I did it free through The American Dream Academy at the time, which isn't available for people anymore sadly.
Degrees are still very important in white-collar jobs for now. But yes, if it gives you massive debt definitely consider working for a company with tuition reimbursement.

Sorry to hear that..
Hey Shane, I need to make sure these courses are up to date because tools have been significantly upgraded. Are the tools referenced in the course videos updated?
Has anyone in the comments that has started with no experience at all completed these certs and landed a job?

Don't expect certs to land you a job. Networking and portfolio are equally as important. Certs are just a good way of showing an employer that even if you don't have work experience you still have valuable knowledge and that you are still actively learning.

I got the first one! And I LOVE coursera!! ❤
It would be nice if you break this video in chapters.
What do you think about MOS Excel and Access? Does them worth it?
All your videos say every cert is worthwhile
I got the Google IT Support certificate in 2022. It proved worthless. No interviews, then when I used just my initials on my resume, to some of the same companies, then I got a phone interview. They demanded to know my name, and if I were male or female. The minute they learned I'm female, they hung up.
People also need to know hp ux rather than just user experience
In my humble opinion, there is no modern or non-modern marketing or advertising. Either you understand the subject or not. It is true that the communication channels have changed and updated, but they are still communication channels. So, maybe be at least read some "obsolete" book like Philip Kotler's Principles of Marketing and then build on that with the digital channels. Or don't... LOL
do I need to buy the subscription of Coursera?
sadly yes

Pursuing Android development, completed udemy tutorials and deployed few apps, about to create a portfolio soon but I'm looking for some certifications to put on resume, I'm a college 3rd year and don't have any internship. So it would be helpful to get some guidance
Something I am wondering about, and do not see on UA-cam anywhere, is how the number of tech worker layoffs is, or will, affect this part of the industry. If you haven't read yet, as of today, January 26, 2024, there have already been 24,000 tech worker layoffs. And it isn't about to slow down form what the companies themselves are saying, including Google.
How is getting one of these certificates going to land you any position right now? It was already more difficult than Google is telling everyone, as these certificates alone do not get most people an interview, never mind their foot in the door. The majority of people that only have one of these certificates, no other certifications or a degree, are being told they need actual work experience for a real company, not just a portfolio of practice projects for the Google certificate.
So, we're back to what us "older workers" have heard when we first started looking for employment; you need experience to get the job, then we wold ask, "How do I get the experience if you don't hire me for the job?" The 'ol catch-22 all over again.
I have a tech job but not in a big tech company. I got it 2 months after graduating with portfolio experience and internship experience. Basically, what you're seeing in layoffs are big corps. It doesn't exactly matter what position in tech you hold, rather, it's dependent on the industry. For instance, typical healthcare and insurance companies rarely have large layoffs. Cancel the noise and work for small to mid-size companies. Sometimes their benefits and culture is way better for WLB. You'll be just fine if you want a tech position.
Also, there's so many vids about the layoffs that I don't know what you're talking about when you say you haven't seen it.
@@emilyau8023 Thank you for replying, Emily. And thank you for your perception about the market. I'm sure there are companies people haven't heard of in tech, but that is part of the problem with Google claiming no experience is required, and Google themselves accept these certificates in place of a four year degree.
Also, what I meant with my comment of not seeing the tech worker layoffs here on UA-cam, I was talking about these types of channels promoting the certificate programs. You can see I stated as of Jan 26th, there have been 24,000 tech worker layoffs and counting. So I wasn't saying I did not see it at all, just not seeing it on IT channels promoting the certificates.
Definitely listen to what the first person said. But I recommend to go beyond a Google cert depending on what you're doing. Portfolio, etc. If you're going into hard-core IT stuff, I recommend getting comptia as well 👍🏾 together

As a chinese learner, I think the field of completion time is kind of too short for me, cause I am not that well at reading english so I need more time to finish it compared with natives.
Can someone please explain to me the cost basis. Everywhere I read, including in this video, that Google Certificates are free but when I view them on Coursera it seems like I have to pay for an account after a 7 day trial. So is it free or not to take the class, or do I get to take the course for free but have to pay for the certificate?
So there are some non-profit companies that offer one class for free/scholarships to cover the cost (which is what I’m doing). But if you don’t have that then it does cost I think $30 ish per month.
It is not free after 7 days. Yes you have to pay, unless you finish the class in 7 days! Haha. Definitely it will be free.
There used to be a program called The American Dream Academy which allowed you to get them for free...they didn't receive enough funding so it's over now. I did these certs when they were still operating. They're not comparable to a degree. Do not get them hoping to get a job based on having one.
@@emilyau8023that depends on more than just the cert alone. You don't need a degree, you need the skill and experience. That's why building a portfolio and practicing your skills practically through projects make a difference. I know a few people who have done with this without going to college and at least have gotten their foot through the door. It ain't just about the cert, it's about everything else that comes with it and how you present yourself including your passion in the career. Most people don't go to college anymore cuz its just way too expensive nowadays
@@emilyau8023not disagreeing with you btw, just saying there are other avenues to reach the same goal point.
