A great example of why service manuals are imperative to an efficient and successful rebuild. I knew as soon as that outer clutch basket hit the floor that it was broken. I was so sad and mad for you brother, I'm glad you were able to source another one.

Always the way. Once you're basically already so much in the hole it's now going to be more expensive to drop the whole project than it is to fix any and every extra issue you then find as you strip the engine. As soon as that's the case you can virtually guarantee you're going to find other issues with every step you take, it's also going to be the build where you drop or damage one or two of the things that had been fine but now are another cost in the pit that you've taken on. It's one of the reasons, if you already know it's going to cost you a fair amount and you'll have to strip the entire engine anyway, why I think you should strip down the entire thing before you even spend a dollar on it, so you are sure you have a decent idea of what it's going to cost. Could feel a bit of your pain as you first dropped the basket but especially when you found the bent valves. This is one of your videos that feels the most like what it'd be like if watching a video of me rebuilding an engine and fixing a Motorbike or Quad etc. Can't wait to hear that thing roar though.

You should've just gotten the engine up & loose, or out a bit to get the cover off first. You were fighting it to get it out, without pulling the 4 bolts holding the motor. Taking a bit of a shortcut, cost dearly at the end of the day. But, Hey, we live & learn every day. as long as we learn from our (or your) mistakes, it's all good.

For information : (You had Beta Techno 250 ?)
if you want a motorcycle that no longer stalls in 1st gear (happens on certain 2Ts)
    and have a softer-progressive clutch,
like using perhaps less gearbox oil wear:
    polish clutch plates
    between the skates:
deburr slowly the glue with a small fine file,
and polish with Dremel and white cotton pads.
    - seen on motorcycle trial forum UK
personally tested on Beta Techno 250 1997
(which has this fault, stalling in 1st,
fault that you correct with Dextron III otherwise, car automatic transmission oil, but makes clutch on/off).

I'm always amazed by people who think they can Mod a Quad without any reliability issues?! A pipe, a carb, a tune if it's EFI?! Most mods have a huge impact on reliability?! 😮

A rubber mat on the floor where you are working may save dropped parts. Common problem with a hard floor.

I took motor mounts loose on my 700 and used a jack put under the front of motor and lifted it up the clutch cover came right off

With the way this project was going I didn't want to risk cracking the engine case with the jack haha

That's what happens when you cut corners Joe you always try the easy way instead of the correct way. It also amazes me that people say they learn from you 😂😂😂😂😂
