      When I started I befriended a workout buddy and the rest was history. He motivated me most days and taught me a lot. I also used pre workout a lot and listened to ct Fletcher and Elliot hulse before workouts and Physique of Greatness or hodgetwins when I was looking for inspiration or information/sitting around on a rainy day. The wealth of information they all contain is enough to get you literally looking like Arnold in a year lol I am living proof man they teach you how to be self motivated and driven towards independent goals that benefit everybody around like mastering form and performing full sets or motivating yourself for early morning runs in the rain.

      @Charlie Guinn Exactly. A gym buddy is super helpful. Makes you push out that extra bit of effort, do that last set till failure, that extra 2 and a half reps on your last set when you would have stopped if you were by yourself. It doesn't even have to be someone you know. If your solo at the gym, ask the biggest guy near you for a spotter. BAMM there's your new gym buddy

    OBB! Your BMX journey is my favorite part about the SC channel. Of course I love seeing Scottys progress too with his recovery. But I've been interested in your journey for longer than that. Don't take this in a weird way but I hope Scotty appreciates you and what you've done for his channel as much as you obviously appreciate him and what he's done for your life. I think you're going to see how much you mean to the BMX community when this youtube channel blows up faster than you could have ever imagined.

    Big Boy, it’s amazing to see how much you’ve improved! Not only getting in shape but also learning to fly on your bike! I stopped eating dairy 3 weeks ago and noticed my skin clearing up. Hearing that it helped you is great motivation to keep up this new diet! I watch your new videos every day on the Scotty Cranmer UA-cam channel and have used them to help me learn bmx. That channel is also the reason I picked up my bmx bike in the first place.
    Thanks for doing what you do!

After a little over a year riding my bike, I put together a quick video inspired by you and the Scotty Cranmer crew! If you UA-cam search "Joshin' Around BMX FUNdamentals," I would love to get some feedback on how I can improve. The thumbnail is a picture of me standing on my seat and handlebars. OBB, I've been subscribed to Scotty's channel since 37k its amazing to see how far you've come physically and mentally. You should deffinatly be more than proud of yourself. 2 questions. Will you ever go back to face the rail in big boy vs rail in Scotty's first video. And second, I'm trying to loose weight myself right now. I've gotten down to 217 from 250 before then lost all motivation and am sitting at 260 now. My question is what is your primary meal plan? Do you eat the same day after day or do you change it up? Also how many meals a day do you eat?

    Hey OBB my name is Isiah and am on a similar boat as you were a few years ago I’m almost 300 lbs and I struggle with diet and exercise and I just want to say that you are a huge inspiration seeing you transform on Scotty’s channel makes me want to get up and lose weight too my question is what workouts did you do to start out your journey?

    • @IzakLuna
      @IzakLuna 6 років тому +1

      CrazyManGaming if you're struggling with both try just focusing on the diet. You'll lose weight and feel a lot better physically and mentally and then later add the working out. It makes working out so much easier cause you're not self conscious and you're kinda in better shape or at least you feel like you are because your body doesn't have to work so hard so everything is just so much easier and you feel so much more flexible without a gut in your way.
      Anytime I'd really let myself go I'd diet for a little and then I'd actually feel like I wanted to go workout again after I cut down a little and didn't feel like a whale trying to unbeach himself when I worked out.

    • @supernoobsmith5718
      @supernoobsmith5718 6 років тому +2

      Best thing you can do is pick some tricks and go at them. You get exercise without realizing it. Stay excited about riding, and you never need to worry about will power. Big Boy looks great, but you don't need to be that fit to be generally healthy. And the sugar drinks....delete that stuff, or slow it up significantly.

      listen buddy, do what you can at the moment and stick with it for now and be proud of yourself....for example leave something out of your diet or substitute something. thats it...then in time, add another thing...you dont have to do it fast, because you need to do this for a long time, just take your time, you brain will develop habots and adapt....trust me. I was a pot smoking, lazy piece of shit, 5 years ago I started with 3x10 minutes crosstrainier pwe week...then I made my nutrition better, a little at a time, as I said...today Im still not where I want to be or could be but I developed habits and stratoegies to keep at it for maybe forever...be crative, take your time, dont let the instagram bs pressure you...

    What exactly did you do at the gym to lose all the weight? Like what workouts

    • @IzakLuna
      @IzakLuna 6 років тому +27

      Getting Dicey working out is really to build/retain muscle. Working out really sucks for losing weight. It's all about the diet. Yes, cardio burns extra calories and therefore fat but it's really not that clear cut. Like if your insulin is high, you're not gonna burn shit. If your cortisol is high, you're gonna hold water and gain weight. Hormones control your weight more than you'd imagine and your diet controls your hormones. If you're working out trying to lose weight, you're just wasting your time, UNLESS your diet is 100% in check. Trying to work out without a good diet is like building a house with no foundation, it just won't work.
      I've also lost 100 pounds before and majority of the weight was lost purely from dieting although I did do a 5k training program during that time but the extra fat I burned from it was honestly pretty negligible in the grand scheme of things. I've also found the more I work out, the more I want to eat too so it's always been easier for me to cut down without all the extra cardio and lifting. Once you get lean you're gonna want to really worry about what lifts and weights and reps and sets you're gonna need to do for muscle growth but if you're concerned with retaining as much muscle as possible while losing weight, you're gonna want to lift heavy sets on compound lifts with low reps to retain that strength and muscle mass. I know you asked OBB but I just wanted to mention this because so many people think you gotta work out to lose weight and they want to know what machine is gonna burn the most fat and all that when in reality all they need to do to lose weight is fix their diet and if they want to speed it up a little they can hit some cardio.
      Not trying to say lifting is stupid or pointless cause it's not at all and has tons of benefits but for people who really just want to lose weight and be healthier, all they need to worry about at first is the diet.

      im sorry but i really disagree with your comment.. sure dieting is a huge major factor is weight loss but your acting like working out is something you shouldnt be doing at all... working out is a great tool for people to use when it comes to weight loss, as it not only burns calories (YES EVEN LIFTING BURNS CALORIES) as well as it increases your overall metabolic rate meaning that your body burns more calories over time.

      JavaMamaLama I'm honestly not a fan of vlogs. They're always just clickbait. I like when I click a title and then it immediately gets into why I clicked it. I don't want to watch 9 minutes of bs filler just so it fits the UA-cam algorithm. Big Boy could probably make some interesting vlogs that would be better than most but I hope he doesn't do straight vlogs like John Hill. Even Scotty's channel doesn't really consist of a vlog to me. He opens it and says what they're gonna do then they immediately do it and spend the whole video doing it. That's a format I really love.

    Is cardio the best way to lose weight

    • @IzakLuna
      @IzakLuna 6 років тому +3

      Death Squirrel it's the best type of excercise group to burn calories but if you're talking about best way flat out to lose weight, dieting is. Dieting is the only way to lose weight honestly. You can run for days but if your diet is all messed up you're not gonna see any results other than increased stamina. Research how hormones like insulin and cortisol effect weight loss and gain and you may be shocked that mainstream health has a lot completely misconstrued. Calories In vs Calories Out isn't the clear cut formula to weight loss like a lot of people preach. There's a guy who ate a whole pizza in an hour for a period of time and he lost weight but when he tried to eat the pizza throughout the day he gained weight because his insulin stayed high all day and his body couldn't access fat reserves.
      Cardio is honestly over rated. Half the body builders, natural ones included don't even do cardio because their diet is so in check. Chris Jones is a great example and he's regarded as natural by others in the industry as well. He just has fantastic genetics so he can look a little roided out sometimes but his FFMI is only in the genetically gifted range when you put it all on paper.
      I fucking hate cardio with a passion and if you do too, don't worry, you don't even need it to lose weight. If you actually enjoy it keep on though cause it will speed the process up a bit and I do miss the stamina I had when I used to practice running 5ks.

    • @IzakLuna
      @IzakLuna 6 років тому

      will johnson the increased stamina was the only benefit I really liked. I think I get enough cardio riding my BMX and it's way more fun so I just stopped worrying about cardio. If I fuck my knees up, it's gonna be doing a gnarly ass trick, not running till I wore my cartlidge out lol. Not hating or dismissing the benefits, I just loathe running and the payout isn't worth the effort.
      The comment was more directed to people feeling like they were never going to be able to lose weight because they hated cardio and could never push themselves to actually do it.

    OBB Glad you got your own channel brother! Seeing your weightloss journey has inspired me to create my own. Right around a year ago my health was in bad shape and I was pushing 400lbs. Then I watched as you steadily lost weight and got in better shape. I changed everything in my life, started riding BMX(which I'm not very good at but hey I give it my all), and going to the gym more and now I'm just under 300. My goal weight is 220lbs(what my Dr told me would be healthy for my bone structure) but I'm gonna try to get down to 200 and then bulk back up to around 220-230 in muscle. Thank you brother for the inspiration. When I first started working out I was around 385, now I'm down to 293 and dropping more and more every day.

    I admire your journey, and struggle on my own weight loss journey also. I went through a very dark point in my life these last three year where I gained another 50lbs. I got divorced, started drinking and smoking again, and peaked at 285 at 6’1”. In the month I’ve been working out I’ve lost about 14lbs but I am having a hard time staying motivated to go to the gym. I still struggle with depression and other factors in my life that are keeping me from giving 110% at the gym and with my eating habits.

    I'm so glad you have your own channel now! I really relate to you on so many levels. I also know what it's like being a tall guy with acne, weight problems and divorced parents. You were one of my inspirations to pick up BMX cause I saw you progressing so fast as a big guy and it just motivated me to push myself to get a little better everyday. I also lost 100 pounds in about a year before but I later gained it back while on house arrest for 8 months. I'm working on losing it again now. You're really a huge inspiration for me between the riding and the weight loss man.
    One thing though, you gotta come up with a new name for your channel. There's already a huge lifting channel called BIG BOY then there's BIGBOYtv too and between those two channels, your stuff is buried. The only reason I was able to find this video is because of Snapchat.
    Super stoked to see more content from you on here though!

    Hey Big Boy, first of all I love that you started your own channel! I've been watching Scotty's channel since he started it but a little more of Big Chaz is always great ;) Just wanted to say you were a huge inspiration to me when you lost all that weight. I am 6'6" and I used to weigh 350 lbs. I am at 240 now and I want to get below 220 lbs.
    Please keep uploading videos to this channel, because I think people struggling with their weight can learn a lot from you!

    Yoooo, didn't even realize you had a channel! You are a huge inspiration to me! Being a bigger guy myself, I tipped the scales at 270 just 6 weeks ago.
    It wasn't just about wanting to look good, I wanted a better quality of life. Just like you I've cut sugary drinks out completely, which includes absolutely no carbonated drinks whatsoever, and have been eating much healthier. In 6 weeks I've already cut 20 pounds, and my energy levels are through the roof!
    Keep doing what you're doing Big Boy! I can't wait to see what you end up doing with this channel!

    Explain everything in detail. Im 6ft and 300 pounds. I've been this big for a long time and it's time for a change. I've been watching you on scotty and crew and all of you are such an inspiration. I've been wanting to buy a bmx to learn how to tail whip. (I think it's the coolest trick) I have had a gym membership for a year and been 7 days in that year. So any advice on food and the routine is greatly appreciated. Best of luck on continuing your journey man. Oh one more thing GO CANADA EH.

    Man just found this video and I have so many similarities to your story. Stopped weighing myself at 300lbs and probably went to about 315lbs before I turned it around and now I go between 180 & 190. I’m 6 foot tall but I did put a good bit of muscle on.
    Next year I’m going to have an operation to have my stomach corrected as it never went back to ‘normal’ after the big weight loss.
    My advice to people on a similar path is sort out your diet first and by that I mean a complete food lifestyle change and then find an exercise you enjoy no matter what it is and do that with determination every time and the weight will drop off🤙🏻

    Sooo much respect bro, the amount of people that set out on that journey hit that wall and stop for a few years and get stuck in a cycle of gaining and losing constantly, i know you had great friends to help you on your journey but for you to stick with it and grind through while dealing with the craziness of a big UA-cam channel, improving on bmx riding and traveling to different places with so many valid excuses not to go to the gym takes alot of strength not just physically but deep whithin your soul id imagine lol respect, now time to get big in a healthy way that involves muscle 😜😂
