Yep, the change definitely buffs defense and forces flag runners to think about their routes more before they pick up the flag. I'll certainly take that into account for future videos of this kind.
@churde While I normally wouldn't advocate grabbing under 200, Crossfire is a special case because of its size. The first and third routes in this video are both 10-second caps (or were before today's patch, I should say); I'd be hard-pressed to get upset at someone for a 10-second cap, regardless of their grab speed.
@churde I take these videos to show basic flag routes which may not be the fastest in the world but are none the less effective in standard pub games. That being said these types of bids are really helpful to the new tribes players which elevates overall pub play IMO if they practice and learn skills from the vids.
At the time this video was made, you were able able to use nitrons on yourself while holding the flag. Hi-Rez changed self-nitrons to cause flag drops in a patch that was implemented later.
@Drenizer I've run the enemy spawn pad route many times in public servers, so I have to disagree there. And though I started the routes in this video from various landmarks, you're obviously welcome to lengthen these routes to where they start at your own base, if that's what you prefer.
@ElementSwing It's free-to-play, so you will be able to attain most upgrades and unlocks with the XP you get from time spent playing (or, alternately, you can purchase them with real money).
Brandon I'd love to see some competitive pick-up games and you going through them and explaining your decisions etc. I have been watching and re-watching your videos because I love the game (I myself can't play it because I don't have a PC) and your commentary style. It's super intelligent but also laid back! Keep up the good work!
You can do the last route (right sideroute) a little easier by standing on the "satellite dish"-hill and jetpacking straight up, then nitro boost at the bottom and cap. You will gain the same speed, however it does not have the same flow ;)
@vol1tion im not saying they need to grab at 300, i said your last route was fine, as long as it a 200+ grab thats perfectly good. and im always open for improvement and other peoples ideas so that why i watch this. im jsut saying that standing 10 meters from the flag and thrusting into it with 170 is a dick move for other pathfinders if not emergency
@xXInsane10Xx XP is largely time-based, so the only way to accrue it is to spend time playing the game. You'll also get 1200 XP for your team's first win each day.
Great video! I love these, i'm still very new to Tribes and these types of videos have been helping me very much. So with that said, i thank you. Keep up the good work!
@Ashenrei1 Well, the entire Crossfire map is a Sentinel's playground because it's so small. :p And with the thrust pack equipped, you just hit the pack activation button (mine is C) and it will boost you forward, even when you're at very low speeds.
@Jawbreaker2237 I couldn't tell you how long it will take you to get good at the game, but I'd recommend finding one class you like and trying to really learn that specific class and get comfortable with it. It might also help you to spectate higher-rank players to pick up on what they're doing and incorporate it into your own skill set.
Doombringers aren't much of a problem once you escape the enemy base. It's rather easy to avoid the missiles by skiing behind a hill or intercepting them with the light assault rifle.
@ApotheosisNemesis I often just improvise on a lot of those "rabbit" routes you're talking about when the flag is gone, trying to predict when our flag will return home based on team communication, enemy flag drops, etc.
I very likely will, but I'm going to wait on it, as Hi-Rez has already said they are looking into making some changes to the initial version of Stonehenge that's currently available on custom servers.
Great video, you're like the #1 source on tribes videos right now. :P Can you consider doing a video on what to do when you have the enemy flag but the friendly flag is gone? I know there are routes where you can circle your base with 150-250km/h so the enemy can't catch up, but I can't really figure them out.
Yes, nitrons were changed in a patch that dropped a couple days after I uploaded this video, which obviously affects some of the routes shown. Sorry for the confusion.
@churde You seem to have missed the point of this video, which is to demonstrate a few effective (as of last patch, before the change to self-nitrons today) routes that newer/less experienced players can practice to become better and graduate from llama status. Sorry you didn't care for it, but if you're running 300+ routes on Crossfire, then I assume you probably don't need this video in the first place.
This is a bit useless, because in most cases the enemy team isn't going to let you stand up on their spawn pad, or you're not going to stop your self to pause on a radar fork and get your momentum again. Capping routes that begin from your spawn make more sense, by the time you exit your spawn you shouldn't loose your momentum and restart again.
I loved this game up until i hit level 6. once i hit level 6 it feels like i can't kill anyone or cap any flags, and i'm completely useless to my team. the enemy players are way out of my league, and i die a LOT. how long does it generally take to get good at this game?
Does anyone besides me not even have a computer to run this game or any game for that matter and just watch these as pure entertainment or avoidance of boredom? No? Didn't think so.
does someone know the fastest way of getting xp for thrust pack? or bolt launcher ? both costs about 40k xp its pretty damn much if you dont have any boosts
I would love to see any tips how to acctually hit opponets ;) I'm playing solder, I have around 4-5 frags at team DM. when, some ppl have around 20. how do thay do that? :O
I love your videos, but it would be amazing if after you showed us these routes, you showed us some real game-play of you running them. So we can see how it looks in real situations. Just a thought
I wish I had some good advice for you, but there's really no counter to a good Sentinel right now. IMO, the Sentinel class is simply imbalanced at the moment.
Absolutely love your videos and your narrating style. Really inspired me to be a better flag runner. Would love to friend and maybe play a game some time. --bearmonster
@Noobermensch You probably shouldn't bring up MW3 in a tribes video. PC players generally dislike the CoD series, and see this game as a way back to the fast paced shooters of old. This game matters; you will get flamed.
I honestly think you are fucking with me. Clearly you need to play both to understand and see the flaw in that statement. It sounds like you haven't played a lick of PC if you say consoles have better graphics, as if that even makes a difference seeing as how people are still playing TF2 and 1.6 years after their release dates.
PCs have better graphics, better control and better performance than consoles do. It's noticeable too, how much better the graphics are. Budget build PCs could run this game better than any console ever could. You obviously have never played with a keyboard and mouse if you think for a second that Tribes should be played with a controller. Consolololololol.
@CuzIwasBored why wouldnt i be serious... i mean this game should be on console so that everyone doesnt have to buy a 2000 dollar pc or mac to play it... i mean you could buy a 200 dollar console with equal graphics and untiltey and play it the same...
Yep, the change definitely buffs defense and forces flag runners to think about their routes more before they pick up the flag. I'll certainly take that into account for future videos of this kind.

There is always an amazing day on Crossfire. It makes me wanna go there for vacation (then again, so does almost every map in this game).
@vol1tion
im not saying they need to grab at 300, i said your last route was fine, as long as it a 200+ grab thats perfectly good. and im always open for improvement and other peoples ideas so that why i watch this. im jsut saying that standing 10 meters from the flag and thrusting into it with 170 is a dick move for other pathfinders if not emergency
Just started playing Tribes, and your videos have helped me so much! I'm for sure going to try these! Keep up the good work!
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I look forward to seeing your guide for StoneHenge when you make it.
@vol1tion The main ones for skiing, such as Skiing, Jumping, Jetpacking, etc. Thanks!
Thank you for doing these videos. This game is so much better if everyone knows how to cap right.
@xXInsane10Xx XP is largely time-based, so the only way to accrue it is to spend time playing the game. You'll also get 1200 XP for your team's first win each day.

most important video i'll watch this year
Yes, nitrons were changed in a patch that dropped a couple days after I uploaded this video, which obviously affects some of the routes shown. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks mate, been needing a good route for this map.
As I have time. I typically upload on the weekend.
@mannyxDlol2k Good idea! I'll see about doing that for future videos like these.
@Drone59 Nope, enemies will spawn at other points if you're occupying the platform.
@churde We'll be looking forward to your video contribution to the Tribes community then. Thanks.
Really looking forward to your next video man- make it sooner rather than later, eh? I need more flag routes! hehe ^_^
The thrust pack (and any other pack) is bound to the "C" key by default.
@xXtamasXx CTF in Tribes is very team-oriented, so when I'm playing by myself in public servers, I'm on plenty of losing teams.
I hope you will do an infiltrator video :) Especially with the new cloak and dagger update!
@churde You seem to have missed the point of this video, which is to demonstrate a few effective (as of last patch, before the change to self-nitrons today) routes that newer/less experienced players can practice to become better and graduate from llama status. Great video. You should consider making one for Stone Henge
I just downloaded tribes and your videos have helped a lot. thx
@DjGeraldo0023 Lots of playtime = lots of practice!
even though i dont play this game, its still cool to watch
@vol1tion that's a good idea. thanks

I don't even play tribes but i still like your videos. You should post a different game that you like to play.
@MrObviouslyJesus You ain't alone *running it on a core 2 duo E7400 ; (*
pretty sick, did you figure our these routes by yourself?
Some of these routes are pretty common, so I'm sure I wasn't the first one to figure them out.
I don't know exactly, somewhere in the upper 300s.
And likely make yourself a oneshot for chasers. Also, Impacts don´t just help you, they help your entire team..
You should do Arx Novena. Probably the most annoying map to cap on.
I don't really play Blitz enough to build up a good set of routes for it.
@Jawbreaker2237 it took 3 games for me, but just play, and you will get good
you can still use explosive nitrons though
You just got yourself a new subscriber :D
@vol1tion what is your highest speed in skiing? Especially with the rereleased temple ruins and its steep hills
Just wondering, will the enemies still spawn on the spawn pad if you are standing on it?
@rnusiclover I can't exactly post my entire keybind layout, but are there specific keybinds you're wondering about?
thanks for this vid, i cant wait to try capping with pathfinder, brute is just too much fun atm tho =p
I loved this game up until i hit level 6. once i hit level 6 it feels like i can't kill anyone or cap any flags, and i'm completely useless to my team. the enemy players are way out of my league, and i die a LOT. how long does it generally take to get good at this game?
Could you show the light assault rifle pls? I cant find videos about it.
@roflmaolz Oh man, I've gotta get working on that...
Does anyone besides me not even have a computer to run this game or any game for that matter and just watch these as pure entertainment or avoidance of boredom? No? Didn't think so.
I wish I could run this at more than 40fps. One more month...
@SupeHunter The first step is admitting there's a problem.
does someone know the fastest way of getting xp for thrust pack? or bolt launcher ? both costs about 40k xp its pretty damn much if you dont have any boosts
will this game cost money to get when it releases
I feel like a total n00b. Could anyone tell me what key it is to use the thrust pack? or how you use it?
I would love to see any tips how to acctually hit opponets ;) I'm playing solder, I have around 4-5 frags at team DM. when, some ppl have around 20. how do thay do that? :O
When will you upload more videos ? :D
Can you do CTF route videos for games that matter like MW3?
arent doombringers the real problem? when your so long in the air its easy for them to lockon you
I don't think that function can be rebound.
God damnit. I've spend the past hour and a half trying to get the flag on roam katabatic but even there I always miss it by a bajilllion meters
I love your videos, but it would be amazing if after you showed us these routes, you showed us some real game-play of you running them. So we can see how it looks in real situations.
Just a thought
How did you nitron without forcing a self flag drop? excellent videos as always, subbed, and sexy voice.
I wish I had some good advice for you, but there's really no counter to a good Sentinel right now. IMO, the Sentinel class is simply imbalanced at the moment.
in INI confing file - probably.
What is your button layout?
Absolutely love your videos and your narrating style.
Really inspired me to be a better flag runner.
Would love to friend and maybe play a game some time.

@qKirbyp what are you talking about... console have the same if not beter graphics than pc, just look at videos side by side
nice video
@Drone59 no.
@Noobermensch You probably shouldn't bring up MW3 in a tribes video. PC players generally dislike the CoD series, and see this game as a way back to the fast paced shooters of old. This game matters; you will get flamed.
Dear god, please do Drydock.
Lol why the hell am I up? Lol at least I get to watch a nice tribes video :)
the doombringer is the biggest problem, not the sentinels or turrets :D
Dat keyboard!
watch the katabadshit video. like and favorite really helps me out
Lol, no more nitro flag runs :/
Not after today's update anyway.
Your awesome
i played tribes, and i could never ski any thing like you do :p
Jugs, too.
Arx Novena please
Awesome Vids ^_^
J. Russel sent me.
wow, you are like the tribes G.O.D. wtf did you learn all this?

@Left2Die4 GT220. Kill me.
@qKirbyp HE IS TROLLING THE SHIT OUT OF EVERYONE
older version of the game.
