@genedhr I agree with you that the energy recharge pack can open up more high speed route possibilities (though they usually also come with longer setup time). Because I often end up doing a fair bit of flag chasing in this loadout when a teammate is carrying the enemy flag, I've found the thrust pack to be more effective. Either pack is a good choice, depending on your role and individual playstyle.
@Ashenrei1 Nope, no macros. It just takes practice and a focus on horizontal movement over vertical movement, trying to use energy mainly for course correction.
@chopsoy0 The angle you throw your nitron sort of depends on whether you're looking to boost your momentum more horizontally or vertically. Just replay this video (and/or my other Pathfinder videos) to get a feel for it.
One of my videos from back in December is called "How to Ski Like a Boss" and talks a bit about self-propulsion. It's a little outdated at this point, but may still help you out.
@Alexiandro0 Hi-Rez has temporarily taken Temple Ruins out of the map rotation to make changes based on feedback, so we'll have to wait and see what the next iteration of the map looks like.
thanks a lot, I learnt the two blood eagle routes, first one was good for learning how to throw the impact nitrogen right and then I could learn the advanced one, and there are still very do able even though I have no where near the amount of stuff unlocked as you :)
@frag971 I think thats the thing I gripe the most about in this game. Llamas! There is a time and place for a llama grab but thats a desperation move to stop an imminent cap. Not as a SOP move which most folks seem to want to do. BTW, vol1tion, great speed. Nice video. Thanks.
Just hold down the appropriate WASD key for the direction you want to go. Jetpacking when holding down that key will help make the movement more pronounced in that direction.
I disagree with the bolt launcher, just because of the higher damage, while the more damage is good against enemies it means it's more damage to you if you want to use it for self propulsion, and I often use the impact nitrogen followed immediately by a spin fuser blast
You should see Temple, it's possible to get upwards of 600 sanics. Really though pretty much every map has a few 230+ routes, and you shouldn't really try grabbing at less than 200-210 unless special circumstances like e-grabs or if you are playing with a team and you have that kind of coordination
Using a nitron on yourself now causes you to drop the flag. The patch that implemented that change was released shortly after I made this video. Sorry for the confusion.
@TheKiteLegacy Hi-Rez has temporarily taken Bella Omega out of the map rotation to make changes based on feedback, so we'll have to wait and see what the next iteration of the map looks like.
@qKirbyp I bought the VIP pack and some extra gold to unlock all the classes back in the early days of closed beta. Since Hi-Rez refunded all gold when they launched the huge customization patch, I now have a bunch of gold available that I don't have a use for yet.
@churde Yes, a good Sentinel can certainly ruin a flag capper's day, but routes like these will often work just fine in your average public server. Competitive play is obviously a whole different ball game.
There are very, very, very few static routes that actually work in T:A. Almost all routes for every map are dynamic routes starting from spawn and abusing regen.
@koolfool88 I'm honestly not sure, but it could happen. Hi-Rez is really pushing for Tribes to be a competitive title, so I would imagine they're in talks with a lot of people right now.
@Austinalien2 I don't know if it will work with a default install, but I'm sure you could do some config editing to get a controller working (though, frankly, I have no idea why you would want to).
@genedhr Agreed. Thrust is much better suited for flag chasing purposes to quickly get you up to some speed to catch a capper. Otherwise I nice video! Keep em coming!
Excellent video. I'm awful, even with this video, at capping. Look forward to playing with you again. As long as you keep getting their flag, I'll try to keep our's locked down. =)
Now let me explain you my situation really quick. Me and my are bro both pathfinders. We start by going 3-0, then they upgrade all of their turrets to max level and put a juggernaut on a flag and like 4 turrets around and like 3 shields and then try and cap. It is possible but its super hard even if i always cap at at least 250 or more.
Hey Brandon this is kinda random but do you think that esl or esea will pick up tribes? Lol I would love to see joe miller shoutcast a tribes ascend video :)
Starting too far away for my liking, some slower pathfinder will grab the flag before you get a chance. I find that being able to overwatch the enemy flag, but still hidden from view works best because you can time your approach for when the enemy is about to retrieve their flag & get to it before they score with yours, it may be slower than the speed your going at but with correct nitron timing and good starting placement you can still escape. Even with the new patch... *shakes fist at devs*
Wait... I have a question. When i have the enemy flag and I try to Nitron boost myself, I "fumble" the flag or something, but this doesn't happen to you. Why?
@Austinalien2 i think i touched my controller once while shriking just to see, it either didnt work or it sucked i dont remember point is, a controller isnt viable for any role in this game.
I was playing with you the other day (you won't remember me, but I was SmileyDude), and I have one thing to say; Nerf vol1tion. I did get kill credit for you once though ;D
@genedhr I agree with you that the energy recharge pack can open up more high speed route possibilities (though they usually also come with longer setup time). Man, I don't even play the game, but I love watching your Tribes videos more than anything anymore.
LOL, I love that you actually used the term "sanics" this time around. Great vid as always, Brandon

Loved the vid bro. Make this a series. Very informative and a good length. Looking forward to more.
I miss this game so much ! :( I hope the series is revived
Yes, you do now. This video was made before the patch that implemented the change to self-nitrons.
I downloaded this game yesterday and these videos are very helpful. I would love to see more maps! Thanks
thanks a lot, I learnt the two blood eagle routes, first one was good for learning how to throw the impact nitrogen right and then I could learn the advanced one, and there are still very do able even though I have no where near the amount of stuff unlocked as you :)

I've found that actually turning to face the direction you wish to steer in much more useful than actually holding the A/D key instead :o
Just hold down the appropriate WASD key for the direction you want to go. Jetpacking when holding down that key will help make the movement more pronounced in that direction.
@SimpleSock When using the egocentric perk and starting at full health, a Pathfinder can take two self-shots from the bolt launcher without dying.
@Alexiandro0 Yes, Bella Omega has been taken out temporarily as well.
I disagree with the bolt launcher, just because of the higher damage, while the more damage is good against enemies it means it's more damage to you if you want to use it for self propulsion, and I often use the impact nitrogen followed immediately by a spin fuser blast
Thanks vol1tion, your videos are insane. Would love to see more maps.

@MrJimmyJammers Yes, I'll still be posting gameplay commentaries.
@cheapmovies9P Yes, absolutely. (I didn't clear the stand in this video because I was in training mode.)
Using a nitron on yourself now causes you to drop the flag. The patch that implemented that change was released shortly after I made this video. Sorry for the confusion.
@ReverbedBassStudios just nitron boost before you grab, which ofcurse incorperates people use smarter routes to go 300+ sanics grab now
@TheKiteLegacy Hi-Rez has temporarily taken Bella Omega out of the map rotation to make changes based on feedback, so we'll have to wait and see what the next iteration of the map looks like.
this game is amazing to watch, you should post it more regularly if you can Brandon!
That was awesome. I don't even play PC or tribes but I watched all of the video and liked. Great demonstration.
That was amazing. I've just started playing tribes ascend & I know how difficult it is.
Mother of god. I'm never going to able to master these, but they are fantastic routes.
@qKirbyp I bought the VIP pack and some extra gold to unlock all the classes back in the early days of closed beta. Since Hi-Rez refunded all gold when they launched the huge customization patch, I now have a bunch of gold available that I don't have a use for yet.

Probably not. A lot of the old routes are still applicable with some minor tweaks.
This video was made at a time when using an impact nitron on yourself did not cause a flag drop.
@koolfool88 I'm honestly not sure, but it could happen. Hi-Rez is really pushing for Tribes to be a competitive title, so I would imagine they're in talks with a lot of people right now.

Very nice! These videos will be very helpful indeed.
-Reedfield
yeah this is very informative i would like to seethis for every map
When you upgrade your impact nitron fully, you start with three of them.
Nice job Brandon, you made 10,283 people stop llama grabbing :D
Incredibly helpful video, keep them coming!
loved the video branflakes, definitely gotta download this game
I freaking love this game so much now!!
My video is more of a beginners guide, but I still think it has some relevant information!
Please do more of these :D
(This week preferably;)
Damn this is well tought out.
great vid man!
Also I feel you steer more by letting go of the forward key
Yep, gotta go fast.
Remember to shoot the flagstand to clear any mines
They also added speed drop for flag carriers. You can't run 300km/p anymore.
Great vid! Do ArxNovena please.
You should make a vid to fix tribes ascend laks
Now let me explain you my situation really quick. Me and my are bro both pathfinders. awesome video. please continue to make more
This is fine and dandy but can u also do more gameplay?
Hey Brandon this is kinda random but do you think that esl or esea will pick up tribes? Lol I would love to see joe miller shoutcast a tribes ascend video :)

Even with the new patch... *shakes fist at devs*
Yes, more, that's very helpful, cheers!
@DrunkChickenGaming I play on 120 FOV.
really nice videos you got there. subscribed!
@frag971 I feel your pain, man. Trust me, I feel your pain.
Mooooore please, for the love of god, MORE!
More Tribes tips please! I suck at this game...
Perhaps show some live action grabs?
Nice video man it helped me out a lot.
GOTTA GO FAST
@laur121212 Well, I bought the gold, and I've played a lot to accumulate the XP.
gotta go fast
Wait... I have a question. When i have the enemy flag and I try to Nitron boost myself, I "fumble" the flag or something, but this doesn't happen to you. Why?
seen many trying to nitron after grabbing the flag...
...I guess self-fumble was added after this video. :P
How do you take such little damage from the bolt launcher? Whenever I try and boost myself with it I almost die. :/
Today I tried using these routes, when I'm halfway to the flag someone just runs up and llama grabs it. Every single time.
Gotta go fast
woah, now that was a pro cap
Damn man. Great vid.
What's a Tribes?
I think I ran over one of those in my tractor once.
@Nickmanq Was it awful?
@ShortCircuit1337 I went slow once. It was awful.
I find it really hard to steer on Katabatic, any tips for steering?
Did you say "a 250 sanic flag grab"?
this is good idea
No wonder I haven't started this game yet
Nitrons now make you drop the flag when you're using it on yourself XD
@Zaxkcy
quick then!
That was awesome.
@frag971 what is llemings?
These are extremely helpful ^_^, also amazing.
DANG HE FAST
wait I don't understand, when did you get the moab? I must've missed it.
Sanic gotta speed!
@Austinalien2
i think i touched my controller once while shriking just to see, it either didnt work or it sucked i dont remember point is, a controller isnt viable for any role in this game.
I was playing with you the other day (you won't remember me, but I was SmileyDude), and I have one thing to say;
Nerf vol1tion.
I did get kill credit for you once though ;D
What? I swear you drop the flag if you impact intron yourself?
@XGDzX Yep jugernaut caps ftw
nice video!
I know that you love llama grabbers. :)))
More plx
in my experience SEN is becoming way too prevalent for midfield caps, they just post up in their spawn spire and get them MLG hitscans
