now when you say gently lift the motherboard off the cpu, mine feels like its glued or screwed on. what gives?
Apply even pressure from all 4-angles and keep on lifting up slowly. Most likely your Thermal Paste is completely dried off and it may seem like it's stuck.
I know it's 3 months late, but if anyone has the same issue, heat it up with a hair-dryer or heat gun or something it should come off
What is the liquid you spray to remove old thermal paste?
100% Isopropyl Alcohol. You can purchase it from any Hardware Store.
What do you do if the big screw for the fan won’t budge?
Use stripped screw kit to take it out
