Isopropyl alchohol(preferably 90% of higher) is great for lifting stickers. It disolves the adhesive, allowing you to easily lify the sticker. When the alcohol evaporates(quickly), it leaves behind 100% of the original adhesive. This allows you to re-adhere the sticker as if it had never been removed.
I recently cleaned out a PS3 slim I was given after seeing your videos. The slim was easy enough with its modular design. Three security screws made it a little difficult. Still I like it when manufacturers make it easier for us basic folks to look after our stuff. Like this video I unplugged the power supply, fan etc. The fan and heat sink definitely needed a clean. I found a soft old paint brush helpful and some cotton swabs.

I have found a shaving brush (badger hair brush) is the best at cleaning small items and fan blades. It is easier on the fan bearings than wiping with a paper towel or toothbrush which puts a lot of friction on the hub of the fan. Shaving brushes are also incredibly good for cleaning small toys and die-cast model cars.
Just put a dust filter in the inlet which will decrease air flow BUT with the help of an additional exhaust fan, it should not only keep the Xbox cooler then original but keep it clean.

Except for most recent consoles of course. I wouldn’t suggest this unless you’re experiencing issues with your fan. Also do not use compressed air. After 3 years or so of mine running all day, every day in a house with long haired cats, I cleaned mine. There was almost nothing to clean so that's good to know it's not gonna need this all the time.
DC fans use delicate ball bearings. Never manhandle them like this demonstration shows or you will likely knock the fan out of its alignment and it will end up rattling. Only used compressed air and if you must get Hands-on only use a delicate painters brush with fine soft bristles.

You should have advised people doing this to not allow the fan to spin when blowing it out. It won't always create problems but can bork the bearing if it spins out too fast. I'm not sure the quality of the fan's components but still best to be cautious. This is especially a danger for cleaning fans still attached to a board, as the motor can actually force a voltage to be sent back to the board.

Man the Xbox Series X is probably one of the best built consoles ever I mean it's so small sleek and compact yet powerful as hell and easy as hell to teardown. The maintenance for it is so simple I feel like anybody could really do it. Very fantastic console indeed.
Can an air compressor be used to clean electronics, and if so do you have a recommended PSI? I have an adjustable compressor and I can't stand air duster cans. I was actually just wondering this yesterday as my can ran out and I was thinking I'd rather not buy more. Just thought I'd ask since it was on my mind and you said something about compressed air.
Air compressors can gather moisture and you may risk spraying water all up in your things. A dedicated electronic duster is like a small leaf blower. You can use an air compressor but is not really advisable for the already mentioned issue, Canned air duster is cheaper. Its a one time purchase vs something you can use again and again.
@@kjuju if you don't mind me digging a bit deeper.... My compressor is pretty nice and has a drain, which I empty before every time I turn it on - does that make it safer? With duster, I always end up spraying some white liquid substance on my stuff - will that stuff never harm my electronics?
@@galaxophone So obviously I am not liable for anything happening. If you are positive that you try to make sure its dry the it might not be an issue. I've always wondered about the stuff that tends to come out of canned air and how safe it is. Ill find some time this week to research it :)
I would use a small light vacuum. Compressed air only moves dust, doesn't remove it and can actually push it deeper into the console or further into the heatsink fins. Wipe extra loose dust, dont blow it around with air cuz that aint "cleaning", thats just relocating dust.
Maintenance on any console that has fans is extremely important that and replacing thermal paste from 20 years ago that is dry and crusty on the older systems 🔥
Yo John! Have you used electric air compressors? My friend lent me one and it works great! I've been using it for all the usual things you'd use a can for! Wondered what your thoughts were!? God vid bud. Peace! 🤘
If your console is really dirty and or taking it apart grab Isopropyl alcohol wipes. I use them when taking PCs apart and it's easier than trying to get bottles of the stuff. Especially if it's hard to find as bottles of the stuff aren't allowed on planes. If you order online were it needs to be put on a plane at some point. They won't deliver it to you.
Thanks for the video I just pulled a small fuzz rug off my heat sink. I was getting the over heating message the last couple days. It probably has been running almost 24/7 since the day I bought it 3 years ago. I have cleaned and vacuumed it from the outside. After opening it up though I found my problems 😂
PSfB despises the XBX Series X but it is a much better-made console and a well-designed one as that. As an IT Engineer, I was well impressed with the design of the console and how Mixeosofy made it easy to clean. As an Electronics Engineer as well I have an abundance of iFixit tools and I recommend buying a set even if it's a small set it is well worth it.
Couple additional tips: have a second or third can to rotate through while theyre on cooldown since they lose pressure temporarily And hold the cans upright as much as possible since liquid can come out if tipped. You can bend the straw to reach tough angles. Best to avoid getting any moisture on your components 😊
i found it was better to ditch the compressed air cans and instead i use a rechargeable air compressor that is meant for PC's, but it will do the job for these just as good, it's far more powerful than the cans and you can do it as often as you need to without needing to purchase another can, which i have done for years and it's always a pain in the ass, i would rather use something like this little compressor instead because it will last years and years.
I've been afraid to try and open mine. This makes it look pretty reasonable. Greatly appreciate this.

Yo John! Have you used electric air compressors? My friend lent me one and it works great! I've been using it for all the usual things you'd use a can for! Wondered what your thoughts were!?
God vid bud. Peace! 🤘
I use my air compressor to clean mine also. Works awesome 👍👍
Thanks for this, seems easier than what I thought
Thanks John, been thinking about doing mine, now I know how to! 👍🏻
I recommend a data vac electric buster , I use mine all the time to dust out the radiators in my PC and fans in seconds
A "bottle brush" will change your life when cleaning fans.
I couldn’t even run my Xbox for 1 hour previously and it would over heat right at the most intense part of the game and I would lose all my progress
Thanks for this Xbox cleaning tut. It will definitely come in handy.👍
4:39 Dust bunnies.👍🐰
I'd appreciate a Switch cleaning one for the different models.
thanks for the tip! Didnt know that, I'll do it later today
This is the ideal build for a gaming console.
Definitely wouldn't mind a Switch cleaning video.
It’s very difficult to do. But when working with fans. You don’t want to over spin them. It can create a small charge.
Thank You John!
This guy is setting up his Xbox series X for when Starfield is arriving, you know you gonna need a clean xbox SX for that one lol.
Thankyou
PSfB despises the XBX Series X but it is a much better-made console and a well-designed one as that. As an IT Engineer, I was well impressed with the design of the console and how Mixeosofy made it easy to clean. As an Electronics Engineer as well I have an abundance of iFixit tools and I recommend buying a set even if it's a small set it is well worth it.
With PCs I find it's better to prevent dust build up using filters but that's not so simple with consoles.
I used the t8 torx and opened all the screws except the big center 1 of the 3 on the fan.. it stripped that 1 so so much for getting the fan out
Very informative video, thanks 😊
People need to start opening there systems and getting familiar with them
thanks! i will try to do ths soon.
I dont know why.. but i think its the most beautiful console i own. Very simple yet elegant
awesome this really helps on what to do without ruining your series x and did you say you need a torque screwdriver?
DEFINITELY saving this video for later, thank Spawn 🤙🏽
Couple additional tips: have a second or third can to rotate through while theyre on cooldown since they lose pressure temporarily
And hold the cans upright as much as possible since liquid can come out if tipped.
@@5226-p1e even better!
Great work and yes plus, a switch video for sure!
great video! my Xbox is close to my front door so I'm sure it's picking up all types on pollen and other things
