    I've heard that humans lost fur to make us more effective at distance travelling and endurance hunting. Couple this with sweat, and we can just keep on trucking

    I'll support any aspiring history.... even pre-history lol, creator. I Absolutely devour any and all historical content. Keep on doing this if it's your passion.
    There's an underappreciated channel called "dig it with raven" basically going over the archaeology side of historical digs, a mash up between your two types of content where you cover what was discovered & they cover how the dig progressed could possibly be an untapped niche of viewers. Well much love man

      Thanks so much for the support. That's a really great suggestion. I'm gonna check out that channel and see if I can take some influence from that style.

    Ancient mammals didn't just occupy the night, they also explored many of the niches that were available for smaller animals. One idea suggest that dinosaurs (except from some winged species) never evolved a small size because those niches were already taken by mammals (which did not have wings back then). For that reason there was a lower limit for how small dinosaurs could get. And when the extinction event happened about 66 million years ago, all terrestrial vertebrates above a certain weight disappeared.

      That's a very good point. I spoke negatively of them having to stay a small size but they certainly thrived as small animals. Thanks for the comment.

      @@Paleofactus You welcome. Found the article in Scientific American where it is mentioned.
      Quote: "For the next 160 million years dinosaurs and mammals went their own separate ways, but both were successful. Dinosaurs became giants and excluded mammals from large-bodied niches. Mammals did the opposite: with their small body sizes, they could exploit ecological niches that the bigger dinosaurs couldn’t access. Having attained a competitive edge in those habitats, they effectively prevented T. rex, Triceratops and kin from becoming small. Between 201 million and 66 million years ago, during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, a bounty of pint-sized mammals-none larger than a badger-lived underfoot of the dinosaurs."

    That's why being dark skin is better

    • @Paleofactus
      @Paleofactus  Рік тому +5

      Especially in very hot climates. Although darker skin can result in Vitamin D deficiency in locations with less sun. That's why lighter skin evolved in the humans that migrated north. So all skin colours are as a result of clever natural selection!

    Sun screen only protects against being burnt not uv radiation. With limited exposure we grow more resilient don't we?

    • @Paleofactus
      @Paleofactus  Рік тому

      Sunscreen does protect against UV radiation. Not fully but it's pretty significant. And you do grow more resilient to UV rays, for example your body produces more melanin (a tan)

    Great vid but (and I know this is nit picking) can we not use theory when we mean hypothesis? It only plays into the hands of the YECs.

    • @Paleofactus
      @Paleofactus  Рік тому +1

      I'm not sure what the YECs is unfortunately. I think you could make a strong argument for this being a theory as it's based on evidence (the Somalian blind cave fish). Thanks for the comment and support!
