Thanks so much, ER. This is perfect for me. I developed tinnitus this past week. I’m only 28 and it really sucks that I’ll never hear silence ever again. It’s been a stressful week. But I hope to deal with this with as much grace as you. Take care as well!
@@toothpasteboy772 Not really, no one can't hear anything. Said so, tinnitus isn't the problem, the problem is the mental focus on the tinnitus, you have to ignore that. And I know, initially it can be difficult.
Hey bro, I've gone through what you're experiencing right now and you need to know that on once you stop stressing about it and accept it - it becomes much more bearable. I developed tinnitus in both my ears 10 years ago, I was only 13 and it was devastating to me. The first few weeks it was constantly on my mind, the more I thought about it the more mental focus I put on it and the louder it became. I became seriously depressed on top of that but eventually I had to move on. I got accustomed to it, and when I stopped stressing about it it was noticeably quieter than it was when I was focusing on it. It's been 10 years now and throughout that time I've heard constant ringing, around a few years in it became worse enough to the point where I will constantly hear it in any setting (at first it only bothered me I quite places) but even now it's just become part of my normal background noise. It seriously sucks and I'm sorry you have to go through it too, but it's not the end of the world! It gets easier to deal with.
I wish I could really show you in some way how much your videos mean to me. I watch UA-cam all day every day and of the (literally) hundreds of youtube channels I am subscribed to, yours is my favorite. The combination of ASMR, the interesting characters, the Lovecraftian influence and the high quality of your videos is just the best. Thank you for all the years of great content, I hope it will never end!
Hands down my favorite ASMRist man, thank you so much for spending all these years committed to your art. Given me so much help relaxing my anxiety since you started, and will always support you dude! Good luck brother
Thank you for sharing this with us. You’re a strong guy, i really appreciate how you’ve still been here for us while you’ve had so much of your own to deal with. You’re a truly good person, thank you for everything Uncle E
This style of video, no asmr and you just talking candidly is really excellent. I'd love to see more like this, just about whatever piques your interest. Thanks for the content 😃
Genuinely feel extremely better about my own struggles after watching this video. I simply can not find the words to express my gratitude, so I’ll just say thank you.
The title of my channel reflects many of these sentiments. Keeping a long story short, it is a symbol of many of these battles and how ASMR has influenced my life. When I first found your channel, I knew I wasn't alone in my preferences so thank you again and again.
This video means so much 💗 thank you 💗 since I was 16 I've been using walking aids after nearly losing my ability to walk entirely on top of having hearing issues my entire life on top of currently being over $20,000 in medical debt. Knowing someone I've looked up to and found comfort in has been through the same thing and is here to support me brings me so much joy 💗 thank you thank you thank you
I am glad you came back to this subject. I had been following your channel since before you had really mentioned it, so I was curious all these years. Ty for continuing. It truly is inspirational.
I'm a 15 year old boy and I have unilateral hearing loss aswell. it's not acoustic neuroma though. I'm sorry you have to deal with this and thank you for making me feel less alone.
After watching your videos for over 6 years I’m really proud of the person you became (if that makes sense) I remember your video on suicide and your dealings with it, and I’m so glad to see you’re still here today.
Uncle ER, You're not just the best ASMRists that I ever listened or watched but you're one of the greatest man who lived. Keep on doing what you like and what makes you happy. I hope you live in peace in the future. Thanks for everything. Best regards, one of your kids
You really changed how I view ASMR. Since discovering your channel I search for more involving ASMR videos. The first vid I saw of yours you were tapping on an orange and it was incredible. Then I went to your channel and found all of your amazing content. I’ve been watching you a lot every time I can. Then to find out you do this for us to help us out and relax our minds but you can’t experience it yourself. I truly hope that one day you can experience ASMR again. You really are a great person and my appreciation is endless for that. You have my sympathy. There’s plenty of it to go around and you definitely deserve it man. Thank you so much for everything and I can’t stress that enough
I appreciate the heck out of your ASMR work and how open you’ve been with what you’re going through. Especially your insights and thoughts on life and living and our interactions with each other and our environment.
Man it is nice to hear your normal voice. I have been following you for probably 8 months now. I can tell that you are someone that genuinely cares for people and you not self-absorbed at all. I have naturally gravitated to asmr channels like yours,Dr.T Asmr, TirarADeguello, ASMR Barber and Asmr Anil Cakmak Tv. Maybe it is because as a very young man I see you guys as a uncle type figure or even father figure. All four of you seem like the type of guys an average joe like me can talk to and drink a beer with. You exemplify a lot of wisdom. I appreciate you for uploading this video so we can get a small look into what is happening in your personal life. Be sure to take care of yourself Mr.Rift. Currently dealing with depression and your videos are a wonderful escape for me mentally from the financial hardships I am dealing with. I don't know what I would do without this community. I think I speak for the majority of the viewers here when I say you have gotten a lot of us through tough times and that we love your work. As usual I look forward to your next video. *Enjoy the weekend sir.*
Dude, you're awesome. You always will be. You're a legend. Whether you think so or not. You KNOW your fans are going to care about you, no matter what. We "know" you about as well as you let us, but that doesn't matter - to a lot of us, you're the person that calms us when the world gets shitty. You're the person that tucks us in at night, in a sense, and your stories engage us. We WILL think about you, and we will keep you in our positive thoughts, prayers, and whatever other ways we can send "good vibes" your way.
We more than understand- even when we dont. Us, all of us, thousands of us, are always goning to be there for you and support you no matter what, even with you anxiety and depression and hearing loss, we will be there to help! You are amazing ER. Have a great day today :) ((or night))
Rift, when I got into asmr it was amazing. I felt like I just joined a new world that was bright, loving, relaxing, and full of just absolute great people. There were a couple of great asmr artists that I listened to before I discovered you. But then (one of my best days) I discovered your channel. That happened maybe 3-4 years ago. You absolutely changed my Asmr experience. You made Asmr 10 times better for me. I was going through a great time in life because of your videos, and i still am. Your videos help me through my life. From what I've discovered we both have a lot in common. We both have created our own fantasy worlds, we both love asmr/what we do, from what I can tell we both love nature, were both Atheists (i think, correct me if I'm wrong). We both have a great imagination, and we both love beards. I've gotten so invested into your story as well. The world that you created is so interesting, I think about what it would be like to live in it everyday. Your channel changed my life, thats what I'm saying. And your channel can continue to change lives. We all care and love you Paul, and we shall never stop. Take great care -Anias k. (My channel name is sheanman because I'm on my brother account)
Unrelated to the main topic, but I really appreciate how you mention the attitude of doctor's, because I've dealt with a lot of medical professionals in my life and a lot of the time they make me feel invalidated or that they're not really understanding my issue, and it seems to be a problem a lot of people have. Hoping you stay healthy and safe
I truly am thankful for you still making videos for us even though you no longer experience asmr. You truly are good at making content and you are selfless :3
I love your discussion videos so much. I like to get to see the artist speaking freely. It feels like a glimpse into the real world of someone who I/we greatly admire. It’s like you trust us enough to allow yourself to be vulnerable in an unpredictable setting. All your videos are amazing, and it’s nice to just sit and feel like we’re just friends hanging out. 🤗🙏🏼 Thanks, Rift!
Thank you for this. You covered (and shared) many familiar frustrations. This discussion was very cathartic for me. Although my hearing loss is caused by other things (several concussions) I can still relate to the anxiety etc. Honestly my largest challenge is the severe tinnitus I have in both ears (two tones no less). Hearing anything in a crowd is such a hard thing . Thank you again for a 44 minute respite from my own troubles. We are truly never alone.
Sad to hear you deal with this. I've begun to deal a bit with tinnitus myself, and your asmr always helps and calms me. Best asmr in the game which helps me fall asleep every night. Thank you for your service:')
I remember first becoming aware of your hearing loss in a comment on one of your VeggeTech videos where the audio is reversed on it. I always always a bit curious about what caused it. As per your wishes you don't have my sympathy. You do however have a great amount of respect and admiration from me, a random guy on the internet, for doing your fantastic ASMR videos despite the issue. Your dedication to quality, accuracy and hell even acting at this point is something I wish more people on this platform would aspire for.
Really cool that you told this. My brother actually had this on both sides, so it affected both ears. He had the other one removed a few years ago and the other on just this year. So its really difficult to remove and so he is now completely deaf. It was a bit hard at first and obviously his life isnt the same anymore. Technology nowadays is amazing though and even though none of my family or he really knows sign language we can still communicate pretty well with speech to text programs.
Rift sounds precisely how I thought he would, which amazed me, I'm not good at that. Also the hearing loss really highlights the pure talent and passion in this channel. Amazing guy.
I just wanted to say Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on the subject of healthcare. I thoroughly enjoyed your video, and would love to hear more of your ideas on various subjects... particularly religion and the church. My story is similar to yours in that category, (from what I’ve read on your blogs.) Nevertheless, God bless and keep you and your family safe. Best wishes. Thanks for all the videos. If you ever run out of ideas for ASMR roleplays, I think you’d make an excellent Detective Charles Reed from the lovecraftian video game, “The Sinking City.” You don’t have to of course, but I’d be very happy to see that come to life.
I am so sorry to hear this, this relates a lot to my Mum who also had an acoustic neuroma, she now has severe tinnitus permanetly every second of the day. Like tv static full blasting in your head. I wish you well on your journey, you will come out stronger trust me. ❤️
I’ve started listening to rift regularly to help me get to sleep. This is the first video that I’ve heard his real voice and also heard his story. This guy is a legend, and I can’t wait to listen to more of his videos.

Always a pleasure to hear your voice without whispering. Thanks for sharing your story Paul. As a longtime viewer, I’ve known some of this stuff as you’ve dropped hints here and there for years. I’m happy to finally have the full picture. Very insightful to also hear your views on the current economy and the medical/insurance side.
I have tinnitus from some ill-advised concert attendance in my youth without ear plugs. I also have something of a problem with earwax, so hearing loss is a bit of a concern for me. Videos like these are helpful for knowing how others cope and treat themselves. Thank you for posting.
People with Tinnitus don't tend to loose their Hearing. Relax, that's the Most important Thing with this condition. I have Had IT for years now, and it doesn't bother me anymore at all
Kool video brother. I’ve had tinnitus myself for 20 years, it’s something that no one can understand but those of us with it. Also, I survived cancer as well. That’s a lot of scary stuff. You have one of my favorite ‘shows,’ please don’t ever cancel yourself. The humor is great, love the sci-fi and oh yeah...ASMR! KEEP ON KEEPIN ON! You should bring the “Get to know me guy” back, he’s creepy-kool!
Rift. I can't thank you enough. I'm going to get checked out sooner rather than later. I have that buzzing issue you were talking about. It mainly happens when things are too loud, especially voices. It makes my ears buzz (not really sure if it's just one, hard to remember). Thank you for spreading the awareness.
Thank you for sharing your story! You are not alone and while I won't send you sympathy since you won't accept it but I do wish you strength and health!
Hey Rift, thanks for sharing man. You have helped so many people over the years, and you only have to look over the majority of comments to see that. Even though I don't know you personally, what you have done for me in times of sleeplessness (be it work for one reason) it feels like you have been there for me personally. Just know that I appreciate you helping me to actually sleep and so it's only fitting that I show you my support here in the comments. Thank you for being one amazing human being, for sharing your amazing craft and being there at the press of a button. 👋🙂👍
I had 6 brain surgeries in 2017 to remove a sinus tumor that had grown backwards into the underside of my frontal and temperal lobes. There weren't many options for me at the time, it was either risk the surgeries, or die in 6 months. As a result of the surgeries, I lost my sense of smell entirely, and the vision in my left eye is 20/200 due to the tumor damaging my optic nerve. So I've got an intimate understanding of what you're dealing with. I was lucky that they were able to remove the tumor, and while I'm still dealing with recovery, which for your brain, can take upwards of 3-5 years, I'm alive. I remember the night before my first surgery, watching your latest video, The Three, getting my face tainted by Batman lol.
Thank you for this video, Rift. I can’t say that this effected me in the way that I share your exact hearing loss, but I do have (if it’s even called this) Early Onstage Tinnitus and it’s getting harder for me to hear people as I get older (slowly, but surely). I’ve also got memory loss and I have difficultly remembering things I may have asked people maybe 5 minutes ago (and I’ll ask the same question to them again). I worry that I may not be able to remember really important things and this video (even though it’s about hearing) really connected to me in that sense. I think it’s important for UA-camrs to make these kinds of videos: their typical content is great, but sometimes, their more personal videos are the ones that help people the most. Take care, Rift.

And for anyone out there struggling trust me it gets better. I'm always available to talk to anyone who needs it. Thanks ER for all the great content. Stay strong everybody!
It’s cool how rift always makes me feel relaxed even in a non-asmr video. He embodies the chill.
He really does embody the chill. I fell asleep the first time I played this video, so I'm here again to catch it and stay awake.
we love you, mr. rift. you really saved me this year, truly. you've saved my life. i'll take a look on your patreon to see if i could donate to you to help a bit. i'll turn on my notifications for you as well. take care, rift. ♡
He’s like the Beethoven of asmr. He’s the best at what he does, but he can’t experience his own gift
I've never thoroughly watched someone's channel before---you're the only person. I think you just relate easily to many people, including myself. You're like a brother who lives a state away, lol. I'm sorry for everything you've gone through. THANK GOODNESS this was a benign tumor. I think we've probably been through the same things (regarding childhood...if I'm right, that is.) Life is a series of events, both good & bad...You're truly an amazing person, e.r., and I realize VERY MUCH how hard it is to go through depression, anxiety---I, myself, battle it every single day. I emailed you not long ago---I was the one who told you that you saved my life. I know that's a crap load to put on someone, but please know how much you HELP people. You "get" so much. Anyhow, a want to THANK YOU!! -Kjersti
ER: “This is not an ASMR video.”
Me: listens to this as asmr and for information anyway.”
love you ER. I’m sad to hear about your condition. I hope treatments go well! We are all here for you!
I love how you’re so comedic in this video but so informal and serious I loved this so much
Thanks so much, ER. This is perfect for me. I developed tinnitus this past week. I’m only 28 and it really sucks that I’ll never hear silence ever again. It’s been a stressful week. But I hope to deal with this with as much grace as you. Take care as well!
Silence doesn't exist. Infact in an anachoic chamber you can hear your blood flow, your heartbeat and so on.
@@bringbringish As neat as that is I think you're kinda missing the point my guy
As some who has had tinnitus for my entire life i can relate it is annoying as hell
21:30 he sounds so sad when he says this it made me sad oh my god
THIS IS THE PUREST VOICE OF ANY MAN ON EARTH
Omg his full voice is amazing woah. You are an absolute mad lad with these vids. I love your asmr and more importantly you!
His whispers make me relaxed and put me to sleep but his regular voice makes me feel warm and comfortable. I love him.
This style of video, no asmr and you just talking candidly is really excellent. I'd love to see more like this, just about whatever piques your interest. Thanks for the content 😃
Rift thank you for sharing this with us. you are awesome :)
It’s crazy that he is one of the best ASMRtists yet he is deaf. You are amazing ER
We do and forever will love you Uncle Rift.
Knowing someone I've looked up to and found comfort in has been through the same thing and is here to support me brings me so much joy 💗 thank you thank you thank you
I wish you all the best man🙆♂️🇸🇬

I am glad you came back to this subject. I had been following your channel since before you had really mentioned it, so I was curious all these years. Ty for continuing. It truly is inspirational.
I also had seen the vids with your regular speaking voice so I am amused at everyone being so surprised
Rift, your work is true gift for us. Thank you for all that destroyed anxiety. Stay strong
You are my Bob Ross of ASMR. Hope you live long.
Uncle ER,
You're not just the best ASMRists that I ever listened or watched but you're one of the greatest man who lived.
Take great care
-Anias k.
Bro, u are, no questions asked... An awesome human being. Thanks for being there.
How r u doing now or lately?
Thank you for being so open Mr. Rift. We're all here for you.
Rift sounds precisely how I thought he would, which amazed me, I'm not good at that. Also the hearing loss really highlights the pure talent and passion in this channel. Amazing guy.
You have one of the best asmr channels on UA-cam. Sometimes a little bit of weird is what you need to get to sleep. Thank you for all your good work!
I just wanted to say Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on the subject of healthcare. I thoroughly enjoyed your video, and would love to hear more of your ideas on various subjects... particularly religion and the church. My story is similar to yours in that category, (from what I’ve read on your blogs.)
Nevertheless, God bless and keep you and your family safe.
Uncle E.R, you are a good guy and you have done so much for us.
just wanted the say thank you for everything.
You are the best, and now knowing about your problems, I'm only more convinced of it! Please go on no matter what!
Wow you had 90%hearing lost and makes really good videos with perfect audio and if I look through the other videos you know I think we all are so proud to you and you know you are a very strong person sir🙂
I hope everything gets on track for you, you are by far one of my favourite creators. Hope you power through
Always a pleasure to hear your voice without whispering.
I have Had IT for years now, and it doesn't bother me anymore at all
That right Rift,we will have your back, and gws Rift you are one best ASMR Arstic I know.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️you literally deserve allllllll the love. You sir are amazing. I didn’t know what you went through yet you make amazing videos.
I found your channel because of ASMR, but I stayed for the human being that you are. Thanks for sharing your life with people, like me.
You’ve been the only asmr channel I’ve actually enjoyed and been happy to see an upload from. Thank you for being yourself for us
Be strong, I’ll always support you, Uncle E.
Fan from Australia
Rift we love you and are here for you, keep doing what you love!
We have your back dude!! Just keep on doing you and always be true to, and with yourself.
Rift. I can't thank you enough. I'm going to get checked out sooner rather than later. I have that buzzing issue you were talking about. It mainly happens when things are too loud, especially voices. It makes my ears buzz (not really sure if it's just one, hard to remember). Thank you for spreading the awareness.
I didn't understand you because I am Korean, but I can feel that it is a good word! I want to be friends with people all over the world!❤❤❤❤

Man, you are my fav ASMRtist, and your the only one that I watch daily. It's always ok just to talk.
Thank you for making these videos it does help, especially when you do some of the depression talks. Thank you for being around mr E
Rift, there is enough sympathy for everyone
Thank you for sharing your story! You are not alone and while I won't send you sympathy since you won't accept it but I do wish you strength and health!
Uncle Rift's comment sections are always welcoming and nice.
