- Sela and Newcastle United have created a first in football delivering a spectacular experience for deaf fans helping them to feel the atmosphere of a live football match.
The ”Unsilence The Crowd” campaign follows the journey of lifelong Newcastle United fans, Ryan and David, as they feel the passion of St. James’ Park in an all-new way using pioneering haptic shirt technology.
Together with RNID, a charity that supports people who are deaf, have hearing loss, or tinnitus, Sela and Newcastle United are redefining the matchday experience.

What a football club this truly is owners that get the heartbeat of our city and the love they give to all fans
Football is more than just a sport
As a deaf person you’ve got to credit the other fans because I’m lucky enough to have hearing aids but i remember onetime I took them off mid match to change the batteries and as I was mid way i realised we had scored because I could FEEL the roaring fans rumbling under my feet
Fans like these are the reason ive adored this club since i was a kid
I loved that plaque that stated 'I'm not deaf, I'm ignoring you..'. What a nice touch by Sela and Dan Burn's sign language celebration was well caught on camera. If you can't hear it, you'll surely feel it...
As someone with a big deaf family who loves newcastle. This will be an amazing experience for them ❤
That's awesome. I have a haptic vest for gaming. Never imagined it could be used to improve the life of super fans. Much respect.

Tbh I was a little skeptical about SELA at the beginning but they are doing much more than what most sponsors have done for us in the past like the drone show and so on. Keep pushing lads, howayyy!
