      I love that! This particular ride may have been one of the sketchiest I’ve lead lol. We were all taking on water, dealing with the issues that brought on, exploring a place we’ve never been, and having an absolute blast doing it! I’m glad you liked it. Things like this make bringing a camera worth it. 😊🤙

    Jake in the yellow FJ is a beast. Everyone was pretty gutsy but seeing him send it through that water with no snorkel warmed my heart.
    Was just out at richloam last weekend and my brother in law hydro-locked his truck, so this place is no joke.
    Happy trails everyone, great video!

      Thanks bud! Ya, we were all a little concerned about Jake’s FJ through that trip. Fortunately the FJ has a pretty high air intake stock. It’s above the top of the front right fender lining. So long as water didn’t go over that, we were solid-ish.. We were in it at that point, so worst case, I suppose we could have jammed a towel in the intake and dragged him across motor off in neutral. When there’s a will, there’s a way!
      Gotta be careful and know your limitations.. sorry to hear about your brothers truck. It’s summer, so I imagine it was just as wet there or worse. What kind of truck was it?

      @@OffRoadAdventures155 Yeah the FJs are pretty capable rigs even stock. My uncle has had an ‘08 trail teams since new and it has made it through everything he throws at it.
      As for my brother in law and I, we participate in the Gambler 500 race wherein you buy a car for $500 and rally it 500 miles across Ocala and the WMAs. So the victim last weekend is a 1997 2wd ranger- no big loss. It actually seemed fine once we got it out and pulled the spark plugs to let the water out.
      For us a lot of the fun is pushing our junk vehicles far beyond their limits. We’ve tackled just about everything at Citrus and Croom, this was our first crack at Richloam. We’ll be constructing some PVC snorkels before heading back haha
      Edit* Our channel here on UA-cam is R&K adventures if you’re interested.

      So we thought about putting 35’s on our FJ, but didn’t want to sacrifice any more comfort or drivability as it’s also a daily driver. Both FJ’s and one of the Jeep’s were on 33’s and were almost as capable as the grey Jeep that was on 37’s. It really comes down to what kind of driving you do more of in my opinion.

      Hahaha thanks man. I appreciate the comment!! Plenty of precautions done to the rigs to prevent damage. All diff, transmission, and transfer case breathers relocated higher up. There are a few other mods done to make this a little safer on the rigs as well…. Premature brake pad wear is just a thing. Gotta pay to play. Did you see our latest video..? 😬

      Not at all. Just use your best judgment and check any crossings before attempting them. It’s completely seasonal. The end of summer is usually the most flooded. Get out there while you can!!

    First the snorkel is not for water crossing is for dessert running. If you get deep enough you are risking other components in the engine that are not suppose to get wet.

    • @OffRoadAdventures155
      @OffRoadAdventures155  2 роки тому +5

      Well, if it is installed correctly, it can help mitigate the water from being sucked in a lower hanging air intake. You are right though, it does also seem to help with the dust in the filter. We have had our intake sealed up right to the top and haven’t had any issues with water at the air filter. (Knock on wood) with regards to the electrical components, we have delt with some gremlins. Out front fuse box is now as sealed as it can be, and our O2 connectors are now encapsulated. (See previous video) I’m also running an alternator cut off circuit into the cabin now. There are other mods like diff breathers I would recommend installing before a snorkel as well. As of now though, we have been fording some pretty deep water and mud for a bit without any issues.

      Hey there! I mostly use a DJI action cam. Someone ran it over at the end of this video.. now I have a three suction cup mount 😆 A lot of times I gather any footage that people take on their phones and personal cameras too. Depending on how it fit, I may or may not use it. We just finished up a ride through Citrus. Video will be uploaded soon I hope! On to edits!
