His albums are an arc. They start out with aggression and a lot of push back towards the world and he starts peeling off the layers. The middle part is a lot of turmoil and soul searching. Then comes the interlude indicating the final shift. At the end, he finally shows his underbelly and the curtain closes. Here, he observes the world as someone in the middle of it with 'Polar Night' and in 'Snooze' he advises on how to deal with this. But there is a shift in tone between the 2 songs, so he used 'Interlude:Dawn' to connect them. What he did was take the piano chords from 'Snooze', reversed them, chopped them up, added the guitar and the drums and also added the crackling of the fire at the start ("So burn it till it's all gone" - Burn It, D-2) of the instrumental. I love that instrumental. When I listen to the album - it takes me through the entire journey from the first album, unburdens me and then I get in a vulnerable mood for 'Snooze' and 'Life Goes On'. For me it represents catharsis.
There are a few songs where Yoongi reveals everything. Every vulnerability, every hurt, every struggle. Amygdala is one of the most powerful, beautiful, and painful of these songs. Amygdala is the jewel of Yoongi's discography. And the reason he named the song that, is because amygdala is the part of the brain that holds the fear and the memory of pain. It is absolutely crucial you read and reflect on the lyrics to understand what he is revealing with this song.
Funny how how Varnell went off for minutes about Amygdala being overly intellectual because of being inspred by a book just to learn later on it's actually about Yoongi's most personal and painful experiences and Amygdala is just the most accurate title he could find :'D
1:25:25 He actually said he started vocal lessons in 2022 festa and his vocals were amazing in his D-DAY tour. Many said they sounded even better live 💜
i second this. saw him in DDay SG and he was indeed way better live already than on the record. all those vocal lessons and practice prepping for the tour really paid off
Thank you for this! I didn’t think I’d survive the wait. Comment brain dump trying not to repeat what others have already said: The Snooze mv always makes me tear up, with the Riyuchi Sakamoto footage of Suga meeting a hero just before his death, and WooSung’s emotional refrain. I’m so gratified you noted & appreciated WooSung’s unique voice. Korean born but w/ deep LA connex, he’s a soloist and a singer / guitarist with indie-pop group The Rose. (You’re right about the Sting qualifies of his voice…I never pinpointed that!) I hope you check out one of his tracks. Finally, agreed that last track could be longer…I get that “argh! too soon!” with a lot of JHope songs too. Oh wait, final final, please get more comfortable seating! You deserve it for all you do! 😅

that last part, last speech talking about grief, losing a parent at a young age. fuck. i'm literally crying writing this. i'm 25, an only child and lost my mom a few months ago. want to know a little story? this album came out when my mom was sick, she had cancer. the day this came out we were at the hospital, she was recovering from her last operation. the doctors told us that she had less than a year left. i remember how bad i cried when i listened to amygdala for the first time, and then snooze. this was the album i listened the most in 2023. now, as i'm grieving her, what was my life and trying to be present with my life, trying to find my way, i listen to life goes on (yoongi's version and bts version too) a LOT. i love listening to you guys. i was having a really bad bad day today thinking about my mom and in my bed the whole day. and your words felt like a hug from her, so thank you. thank you,
One of the main things that I love in BTS discography (solos or group) is that it's impossible just listen and go on, you feel compelled to think about it. To me, RM and Suga are two great thinkers who shake our brains in a very good way.
Just wanted to say thank you! You guys have become my favorite reactors because of how respectful you are not just enjoying but analyzing the music. Even if it's something not to your taste it's still nice that it's respected. I've learned so much more about different rap styles and hip-hop thanks to you guys..
Huh! , Amygdala, Snooze and Life goes On are my favorite 💜 but I loooooove the whole album! It is an absolute masterpice! Min Suga is a genius in all parts! Producing, rapping, singing, story telling, writing, lyricism, peforming, dancing, captivating stage presence! Just all!
1:28:00 I think it's pretty logical like storytelling or when you go through something, starts with reaction, emotions, acceptance, thinking learning and moving on and here both lyrically and musically it follows that. That kind of arch is very natural and make sense.
Amygdala... the fact that Army didn't chop you up and spit you out just shows how much they value your friendship with Sleep... and your knowledge Varnell hahahahaha.... It's still making me laugh .... 💜
Their albums always has a story. They always say listen to it from top to bottom . So yeah it's intentional. Even the DDAY concert set list has a story. Their concert as a whole team has that " blueprint" VArmy is saying, and that is actually a fan experience...😉 that brings out PCD.🤭🤭😉
Life goes on is my favorite track on this album. Sonically it hits my ear perfectly. I also love the instrumental at the end. Varnell is gonna love Layover. Can’t wait. Seated
Amygdala ( it's not that hard to pronounce, I think) is a very heartfelt song for a lot of us. Many of us cried with the first listen. Yes, that's why it's important to read the lyrics. Specially BTS lyrics. Not all of their songs have deep meaning but many of them do. I would write some of it here but I don't want to spoil anything. I understand you focus on the music but it's a shame you don't read lyrics.
He played piano live on this song on his tour and live guitar on acoustic version of Seesaw. It’s time for D-Day live tour reaction and Hobi live at Lollapalooza!! 💜💜
Just a little correction, this Life goes on is his demo that could have been picked for the album Be. It wasn't at the end, but he decided to include it in his album
The reason I love your podcast is because you both give a lot of insight to the sound side of the album/song! Lyrics I can always find great translations online, but with you both I get the inspirations behind the sound/beat choices the artist has made! It also has made me really look into the rap history ( it always felt a world apart to me) and I feel like a child learning. 💜
The amygdala is the part of our brain involved in processing memories and emotional responses. Basically he’s saying he wants those bad experiences to be wiped by his amygdala so he doesn’t remember it anymore. That song is very special to both Yoongi and Army because an outsider wouldn’t really understand the depth of the lyrics unless you’ve been following BTS for a while and know Yoongi’s story. I’ve only watched the MV twice (it makes me so emotional) and I saw it sung live which made me cry too.
Oh we know they love taking us on an emotional roller coaster jsjsjs their concerts are like that as well, they start with the high high energy songs then go up and down then high energy again and for the encore we all cry and enjoy happy, emotional and meaningful songs with their speeches at the end talking about the concert, each member talks and we just go like this 🥹 Sorry I’m commenting a lot jsjsjs
It may have looked like a flower path But, know that it was a thorny path with enemies everywhere. I hope you never forget the one who throw flowers on the road for you. When you're laughing, don't forget the one who cries. 'Cause they live a day on your smile When you get erased in the repeating schedule. It's okay to feel overewhelmed, if it's too much for you, you can take a little rest. Cry out loud when the world gets ugly. When the hand that greeted you turned into a pointing finger, you can take a deep sigh and shout "This shit is fucked up.
something I respect about these boys is that they always end things on a good note. the blueprint, it applies on songs, albums and album trilogies. for example, "the last" from suga's first album, he talks about all his negative thoughts, fd up things and end the song with super hyped up tone saying now im ok yall cant bring me down. "dday" and "indigo" both albums includes songs about their takes on life and emotions, ending it with comfort and advicory songs like life goes on, no.2. songs with the meaning of lets take it easy and move on. trilogy albums like "love yourself" first album talks about falling in love and all that goofy things, second album talks about heartbreak and realization of how u are losing yourself and molding urself into someone else for your partner and the last album talks about accepting urself and loving urself. when artists talk about true emotions, the listeners feel related. and for them to always end it with a good note, after listening to their songs and albums it always feel like I can go on with this life.
I get to attend Woosung's concert in November in San Antonio. He just dropped his solo album. So unique voice. The other members of The Rose are doing their military duty. Woosung is Korean American.
just a brief note on Snooze: the pianist is Ryuichi Sakamoto, a great composer who scored films like Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence and The Last Emperor, among others. He was one of SUGA's musical heroes, and they met for this project, shortly before Sakamoto-sensei passed away.
dday is a a very special album. takes his roots but also shows the evolution over time. talent, confidence, honesty, and raw emotion is never a question with min yoongi. but there is also wisdom, restraint, grace, and romance on this album as well.
Varnell's ear is so good! When he said Dej loaf, I couldn't unhear it. I've listened to this song so many times and i never thought of that. You're so right! Thank you guys for another great video. I can't wait until you start exploring the vocal line's music 😊💜
I love how Yoongi makes the beat his b*tch. His relaxed, variable cadence, the way he weaves in and out, always bringing it all back together perfectly, harmoniously, is not something I've heard anybody else do.

Namjoon be: "we appreciate your apologies"
(now whose remember this convo?)
But from Army to Varmy...we accept your apology😊😊.. 💜💜
😂😂😂 He was in "hot Waters"😂😂😂
There are a few songs where Yoongi reveals everything. Every vulnerability, every hurt, every struggle. Amygdala is one of the most powerful, beautiful, and painful of these songs. Amygdala is the jewel of Yoongi's discography. And the reason he named the song that, is because amygdala is the part of the brain that holds the fear and the memory of pain. It is absolutely crucial you read and reflect on the lyrics to understand what he is revealing with this song.
The way Varnell fell over after Sleep told him the lyrics to Amygdala. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Many said they sounded even better live 💜
i second this. saw him in DDay SG and he was indeed way better live already than on the record. all those vocal lessons and practice prepping for the tour really paid off
third this, the album was INSANE live. they gotta react to the concert
Varnell: “Ai blah blah blah technology is crazy”
Sleep: *fondly smiles*
Varnell this is destiny you have chosen koya
Snooze doesn't have a MV ^^UUU
@@loredellit's not an original one, true. It's made by Elissa, the one who gave a video to "Louder Than Bombs". She does a very good, emotional engaging job 💜 They are worth being watched.
that last part, last speech talking about grief, losing a parent at a young age. fuck. i'm literally crying writing this. i'm 25, an only child and lost my mom a few months ago.
want to know a little story? this album came out when my mom was sick, she had cancer. the day this came out we were at the hospital, she was recovering from her last operation. the doctors told us that she had less than a year left. i remember how bad i cried when i listened to amygdala for the first time, and then snooze. this was the album i listened the most in 2023. now, as i'm grieving her, what was my life and trying to be present with my life, trying to find my way, i listen to life goes on (yoongi's version and bts version too) a LOT.
i love listening to you guys. i was having a really bad bad day today thinking about my mom and in my bed the whole day. and your words felt like a hug from her, so thank you. thank you,
I'm so sorry for your loss, and I'm glad this album could bring a little comfort to you 💜
D-day concert and Hobipalooza 🔥 🔥
Yes. These two. 🙏💜
@@NomadicAngel that’s love, appreciate you 💜💜
Huh! , Amygdala, Snooze and Life goes On are my favorite 💜 but I loooooove the whole album! It is an absolute masterpice! Min Suga is a genius in all parts! Producing, rapping, singing, story telling, writing, lyricism, peforming, dancing, captivating stage presence! Just all!
Please show these recommendations!
Take our varmy to hybe at 17 oct..hobi is coming that day...if he's lucky he might see 7 of them
might not want to have him watch the video for Amygdala... he might feel worse.
Yes let him watch it. He should feel worse
Definitely make him watch the video, it is so relatable, we all have trauma that we want to escape from. He needs to see Dday concert the final.
Whatever Varmy. We're clocking this cause we saw your pilgrimage in the motherland LOL
Somebody does loveeee….but I’m thinking about Min Yoongi!! 💜💜💜
Life goes on is His version of the Life goes on of the Be album of BTS.
He liked a lot what he was written so he made is own
Just a little correction, this Life goes on is his demo that could have been picked for the album Be.
💜
Mannnnnn.....someone is protesting a bit too much 😂
I hope i can also see Varnell react to their MVs, their Live performances and DDay Tour😍💜💜💜
Wait until you see the mv lol it’s heartbreaking
The amygdala is the part of our brain involved in processing memories and emotional responses. Basically he’s saying he wants those bad experiences to be wiped by his amygdala so he doesn’t remember it anymore. That song is very special to both Yoongi and Army because an outsider wouldn’t really understand the depth of the lyrics unless you’ve been following BTS for a while and know Yoongi’s story. I’ve only watched the MV twice (it makes me so emotional) and I saw it sung live which made me cry too.
D-Day live was INCREDIBLE!
Also, I am here for ALL OF THE ADORA LOVE for her SDL background vocals, she killed it hard
Oh we know they love taking us on an emotional roller coaster jsjsjs their concerts are like that as well, they start with the high high energy songs then go up and down then high energy again and for the encore we all cry and enjoy happy, emotional and meaningful songs with their speeches at the end talking about the concert, each member talks and we just go like this 🥹
Sorry I’m commenting a lot jsjsjs
My question is when is Varmy getting his first BTS tattoo 😂
Varmy! Embrace the childlike joy! It's one of the best parts of the rabbit hole! LOL
Thanks for the real talk and deep dive into Yoongi’s lyrics. There are so many layers in his productions. He is very relatable.
I'd loooove to see a Varnell, Sleep & Woosung collab.
That would be fire
It may have looked like a flower path But, know that it was a thorny path with enemies everywhere.
I hope you never forget the one who throw flowers on the road for you. When you're laughing, don't forget the one who cries. 'Cause they live a day on your smile When you get erased in the repeating schedule. It's okay to feel overewhelmed, if it's too much for you, you can take a little rest. Cry out loud when the world gets ugly.
When the hand that greeted you turned into a pointing finger, you can take a deep sigh and shout "This shit is fucked up.
So powerful. The lyrics are so powerful
"What are you ON about?" is killing me 💀
something I respect about these boys is that they always end things on a good note. the blueprint, it applies on songs, albums and album trilogies.
for example, "the last" from suga's first album, he talks about all his negative thoughts, fd up things and end the song with super hyped up tone saying now im ok yall cant bring me down.
Not even 15 min in and I laughed so much over your banter. The BESTIE BRO vibe is on my level. Love this
Yesss!!! Thank you!!! I was most excited for you to hear 'Snooze' for WooSung's vocals and my other fav SDL😆🤗🫶
OMG THE WAY VARNELL WALKED IT BACK ABOUT HIS THOUGHTS RE AMYGDALA HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH
I cracked up hard
Dude when they come together they are Voltron, The Avengers, Thundercats….ect! Just wait Varmy 💜
Amy-di-gala 😂 41:20 Varmy I’m all done with you
I get to attend Woosung's concert in November in San Antonio.
Seeing Varnell in love is so cute.
Sleep, I admire how loyal you are to the BTS members. Props to you. You're a true one
Caught in 4K by taking pictures with koya tehehe
We see you Varnell!
dday is a a very special album. takes his roots but also shows the evolution over time. talent, confidence, honesty, and raw emotion is never a question with min yoongi. but there is also wisdom, restraint, grace, and romance on this album as well.
Snooze has definitely been one of my favorite songs. The lyrics are powerful and such a wonderful reminder for all of to keep going.
"Life Goes On" definitely hits on stage, especially with him playing the piano during THAT ONE PART.
lmaoooo Varnell saying they need help with titles when it was HUH?! only to turn around to go we know you’re smart when it’s AMYGDALA 🤣🤣🤣
The first 20 minutes are so hilarious, so many quotes I wanna talk about, thank you for the laughs
Varnell's ear is so good! When he said Dej loaf, I couldn't unhear it. I've listened to this song so many times and i never thought of that. You're so right! Thank you guys for another great video. I can't wait until you start exploring the vocal line's music 😊💜
Don't worry about it Varmy i knew you will feel bad as soon you learn the lyrics 😂 apology accepted
D day is a masterpiece! Thank you for listening it with me and giving your insights.
I really like watching you guys. 💜
14:59 that photo I'm WHEEZING😭😭
Jhope forest,Jin forest Daegu murals hybe building jimin’s dads cafe Omg take Varmy to RMs hometown 💜💜💜
@1:07:38 Sleep to Bamboo Sheets is Jungkook to Kombucha 😆💜
Lmaooo his reaction after having hear the lyrics to Amygdala 🤣 MY BAD BRO 🤣
Varnell may not be a fan of k pop (uh huuuuuh) but bts is so far beyond all that
I love how Yoongi makes the beat his b*tch. His relaxed, variable cadence, the way he weaves in and out, always bringing it all back together perfectly, harmoniously, is not something I've heard anybody else do.
It would be great to see your reactions to his MVs and the full lyrics. Suga is an exceptional actor. The MV tells his story so well and gives you a much deeper respect and appreciation for his music! He really is an all-around genius!
The MVs are important. Amygdala was super clear with the visuals and subs. Varmy!! Watch the MV. It gets you in the gut!
Thank you for reacting to D-day, hope you will watch HAEGEUM and AMYGDALA mv and D-day final concert in Seoul.
💜💜💜💜
1:33:19 oh you have a long journey ahead fetus varmy, you got this!! 💜✊
don't forget to look into Life Goes On's connection to BTS's Life Goes On! I was waiting! if you don't get the connection when you watch the life Agust D concert you won't know how meaningful it is for armies doing the BTS chant during the song
Interlude Dawn is my favorite..... I love it so much.
Yeah thats right hip hop lovers and born singer are mandatories for understanding BTS love from Spain🇪🇸
He gotcha Varnell! LOL Please dress him in a Hanbok. Both of you dress in a Hanbok. that will be great.
as an sdl enthusiast I loved seeing Varnell vibe with it… and god, Adora I love her vocals sm theyre the cherry on top whenever she works with Yoongi
13:24 🤣🤣🤣 At 1st, I didn't know who to believe until i saw the video. Varnell, embrace your inner Army. It's okay😂😂
