Ah, the golden age of SIG Saur, the P series. My first carry gun was a P228, great gun, still have it. Fell in love with the P220 and have many of them in 45acp and 10mm. Like so many guns that require precision machining, Sig could not justify the manufacturing costs over the sales returns. So they bowed to the Teflon gods and started squeezing guns out of a tooth paste tubes. The P229 in 357 SIG is one hell of a weapon!
The 229 is my favorite pistol. I have the 357Sig, 40S&W, and bought a 9mm conversion barrel. The 357Sig hits hard, and the the original slide. They used it till 2005. You serial number prefix gives you production date. The first year was 92 the serial starts AB, then 93 is AC and so on.
I agree with you. Hammer SIG pistols are great. There are better plastic striker pistols out there, though. I think it is a shame that it is getting more and more difficult to find compact handguns in anything besides 9 mm. I'm glad S&W has started releasing new pistols in 40 S&W again (especially since the cartridge is named after them). I wish SIG would do at least a limited run of new production P226 and P229 in 357 SIG each year. I'm also a fan of 30 Super Carry and I would like to see more pistols chambered in that round. One thing COVID proved is that variety is good when it comes to pistol chamberings.
My first 357sig handgun was a Sig SP2340, I bought it in 1999 and it still run like a champ. I also have a SP2022 in 357sig, an H&K VP40 with a 357sig barrel, my S&W M&P Performance Center 40L I have 357sig and 9mm barrels for it and my Sig P229 in 357sig without rails and german frame awesome gun but I haven't found a holster for it yet. I really enjoy 357sig.
I’ve tinkered with 357 sig. I was extremely impressed because it was a laser beam. Very flat traveling round I’ve seen. I know people who run it in 357 sig in mp shields that was chambered in 40. Which I’ve been pondering the notion of changing to lol. I do know for LE 357 sig had very good street cred kinda like the 40. I just think a lot of so called LE have soft hands lol and can’t handle a little snap. But anywho. By far classic sig is the best. I’ve never liked any 320 or 365. I’ve seen tooooooooo many real life horror stories from those pistols. Now the P250 and the P2022 are truly sig polymer gems for the company. Idk if the make the 2022 anymore but it was a poor man’s 229. Check them out if you can.
I have a P229R originally in .40 S&W, installed a new Sig .357 Sig barrel. Found a P229C SAS with both the .40 S&W barrel and the .357 Sig barrel, one of my daily carry guns. Found a P224 SAS in .40 S&W with the .357 Sig barrel at the Gun Show this past weekend. I have the Signess, I will say the P365 was my gateway Sig. I have a P226R in .40 S&W as my woods gun, P320 DH3 for Steel Competition, P322 for new shooters, my original P365 with a pocket holster for when I can’t IWB carry. Finally a new P365 AXG with Romeo X to start getting use to carrying with a red dot.
Glock has done more to keep 357 Sig alive than Sig themselves has ever done. The only 357 Sig I have is a SW357V Sigma. The cartridge is far better than the gun 🤣
I live about 1 and a half hours from sig in Epping NH. That is thier flag ship location. Most all guns I believe are made in Exeter. Enjoyed your video.
P229, Sig’s best pistol. .357 Sig, an answer to a question nobody asked. 😂 OK, they were trying to replicate .357 Magnum results in a semi-auto for a handful of law enforcement agencies. Turns out not many really wanted it and ammo’s price was insane.
I have a Sig Sauer P229 SAS Gen 2, with conversion kits 9mm/.40 S&W/.357sig. I like the .357sig the best. See my review on my UA-cam page, "Lone Star Lawman."

Great pistol, even better caliber.

I agree with you 💯. I love 30 Super Carry. I have some more 30 Super Carry content coming. Thanks for watching man.
I have an all stainless steel P226 in 357 sig. easily my favorite gun.

Man, that's a mighty fine pistol (& caliber)! I carried one in .40 for the longest time, then they made us trade them in for plastic... I miss it.

I have a sig 2340 which shoots the 40 cal and with my 357 sig barrel I shoot the 357 sig.

I have an FNS40 converted to 357Sig with just a barrel swap. Fantastic lethal round.
Thanks for the honesty concerning Sig. We need more people to come forward calling them out. They won't improve otherwise.
Yes, that is considered their “legacy” slide. When you purchase upper kits, you can still request a legacy slide for 40+357.
Excellent review. I hope you can do one on the SIG P250 someday. Still seems to have its fans.
P250 has the best DAO trigger on the market IMHO
I have 2 slides for my P229, 9 & .357 SIG. It is a tank of a pistola, love it. 👍🏻
B code and Exeter. I think made around 2014 or 15.
That’s great info. Thanks 🤠
Yes, SIG is still in NH ... LE trade is the way to go. Stay away from short extractor models.
I used to really like the sig p230. Handsome little guy too
Man, i have been on the hunt for one of these to match my p226.
I have a 229 in .357 Sig with the DAK trigger and I prefer it over the DA/SA.
Just looking at the muzzle flip, you can't tell if it's a 9mm or a 357. I'll take the extra energy of 357 any day.
Me Too 🤠
Sig is still in New Hampshire. My Brother’s friend is an accountant there. Anyways, metal sigs= good, plastic sigs= bad.
I wouldn't trade my 229 for a new 320 or 365 and my 229 is 30yr old

Tell him they suk for fhjk up their line of pistols
Tell them to bring back the 227 while you're at it.
Glock has done more to keep 357 Sig alive than Sig themselves has ever done.

It's the only reason to buy a Glock

@@wyominggunproject i recommend atleast tryin one. Smooth shooter
Sig makes money from guns they can sell . Im sure the 226 is great gun but people want small conceal able , affordable guns
I agree with you 100%. 🤠
I love mine
Damn I Paid $850 For My P229 Chambered In 40/357Sig. Not Readily Available In California Anymore. So I Didn't Mind Paying Off Roster Price.
P229, Sig’s best pistol. .357 Sig, an answer to a question nobody asked. 😂

Pretty sure plenty of people asked how to get 357 mag power in a convenient carry auto loader.
.45 a pop for target ATM
