      You need a different throttle body from a manual as well I think

    Also worth noting: you can swap the key id rom chip between ecus. You'll need a hot air soldering station, but even then it's still cheaper than paying the dealership.

    Just came across this video way before doing a manual swap. I have a manual em2 basically junk now and now have another em2 but cleaner with low miles. the car is completely stock and I'm planning to basically swap over everything from the junk em2 to the low mileage one from suspension,wheels,and transmission. my first em2 is a rust bucket now and has a lot of things that in my opinion aren't worth fixing so I just want to swap the auto trans with the manual trans along with everything else I want from my first em2 and either junk it or sell it for really cheap

    Found this video because I’m bout to get an 05 automatic from my mom for free and this is just seems like more hassle than it’s worth compared to what I’m used to doing with swaps in EF’s and EG’s lol

    I've had a manual trans and shifter linkage + shifter sitting in my garage for my '05 EM2... for like the past 2 years. It's time to start sourcing parts for my swap.
    I'm gonna go for the kpro d17 on a RSX type-s ecu with the adjustable cam gear. I want to kswap, and I think going manual swap on a kpro will be a good stepping stone.

    I know this is an old video but, I have a 2005 Civic with the same engine that's in this one. I'm having a burning smell like it's overheating but it's not. I've noticed that it gets worse when the car is slanted like when it's going uphill. Coolant is at max on the reservoir, the engine isn't burning oil, no visible leaks and oil is clean. What could be making this smell?

    Im 17 and have a 2002 honda civic ex sedan that ive fallen in love with. Im at the point where I really wanna restore it and manual swap it because the car is sitting at 215k and that little old engine wont last forever.

    • @hondaloyal8570
      @hondaloyal8570 3 роки тому +1

      You’d be surprised how long that little old Honda engine can last lol. I’m in the same exact boat man I’m 17 as well just bought an 02 civic ex sedan a couple days ago it’s auto as well 211k on it. Car runs great but the tranny has started to slip every time it shifts but it doesn’t do it when it gets good and warmed up. I really like the car though so I think I’m going to try and 5 speed swap it soon if I can get a good deal on some parts or a good parts car. The car has a check engine light though I am going to take it to a local shop and have them check the engine out and if it is in good shape I think I’m going to go through with the swap and drive the car till the motor goes which I don’t believe will be anytime soon. Mine is beige with tan interior maybe we have the same exact car lol

    • @AbnormalGarage
      @AbnormalGarage  3 роки тому +1

      I ended up buying a parts car for $250. I could've just used everything from that car, but decided to put in a new master cylinder, clutch, clutch lines, throw out bearing, and rebuilt the transmission with new synchros/bearnings. All of those parts cost roughly $500. So in total about $750 for the swap, but I recouped most of my money by selling parts off the parts car, so in the end it was basically free.

I fear I may have blown a fuse. Do u know what could’ve happened? Why it shut off and now I can’t get any power to the car?

    • @AbnormalGarage
      @AbnormalGarage  4 роки тому

      Did you swap your auto ECU for a manual ECU? Cause what you're describing kinda sounds like an immobilizer issue. We had a similar problem, but we ended up swapping the whole steering shaft so we could use the matching key for the manual ECU. If you don't have that option, then all you have to do is take it to the Honda dealer, and they can flash the ECU to make the original key work with the manual ECU.
