I've been a professional drummer for 46 years. I've played ALL styles of music both live and in the studio. But I have to say that in all of my musical life, in all the bands I've been blessed to play and collaborate with, this "Follow the Light" track has just completely blown me away. The amazing "pocket" that these folks were able to establish is like NOTHING I've ever experienced. Especially given the fact that I understand that they didn't even record this video in the same studio with each other. Dirty Loops was home in Sweden, and Cory Wong (who plays with such funky precision) was in Minneapolis with his horns. They are all completely outstanding musicians, but that BASS!! THE BASS!! I hope he was standing near a bucket because the FUNK was just dripping off his hands. The triplet-slaps at the end of some of his phrases slayed me. His solo was on another planet. Him and the drummer (I've seen his solo in "Work Shit Out" and he's completely GOLDEN) are joined at the hip! I've watched this video about 11 times, and it drains me each time. MASTERPIECE!
I can't put my hand on what, but this entire comment made me smile. I'm proud to discover dirty loops through my brother (who is a drummer). I will also start my bass journey soon and really look forward to learn the techniques used by henrik. wish me luck!
Your comparison between Dirty Loops and Snarky Puppy was so on the money. Both are full of virtuosity, but Dirty Loops ALWAYS brings the musicality! Now that you've found Dirty Loops, have a great time going through one of the most amazing catalogs of songs EVER!!! I’d love your reactions to their version of Thriller, as well as Turbo, Next to You, Work Shit Out…. and so many more :D Thought it was interesting how you pointed out not just their great chops and musicianship, but also their knack of crafting accessible, groove-along songs. When it comes to that, Dirty Loops always hit the mark for me. Looking forward to more of your DL reactions, man 🔥
I was one of those who recommended Dirty Loops to you in the snarky puppy video, i knew you will love it - god-tier musicians playing "playlist friendly" songs ;) The core group is the singer/keys drummer and bass. Cory wong (the guitarist) and the brass section players joined them for this collaboration. follow up should prb be "Dirty Loops - Next To You" or "Dirty Loops - Work Shit Out", both are amazing.
Ahhh friend great bloody reaction. A reaction like this -to me-is as good as they get. Honest, great shared enjoyment and wonderful comments. I will let you know that Dirty Loops are not the biggest band in the world but it's fans are loyal and adoring...that is to say you have just opened a door to many heartfelt requests. There are some amazing things you should know about this incredibly tight song: Cory and crew (left side) and Dirty Loops (the three magicians on the right as of this recording had never met in person. Cory's gang recorded in Minneapolis MN and DLoops recorded in Stockholm, Sweden! I often feel that Loops music is for everyone with an ear that musicians really get them. Based on that identifier I'm going to recommend "Work Shit Out", "Wake Me Up" older tune. They first came on everyones radar by putting up UA-cam videos that have since received millions of hits. Also "World on Fire" and the epic, incredible "Next to You". I think of this one as DLoops "Bohemian Rhapsody" it's that good. So go wild and know you'll have plenty of fans ready to jump down this rabbit hole with you. Welcome to the club. Oh yeah, that big ass tom is called a gong tom.
Every DL track is instant playlist! I'm def with you on Snarky Puppy as well. World On Fire has a fire bass solo also and Work Shit Out has a kick ass drum solo. MORE DIRTY LOOPS PLEASE!
Completely agree with you! It’s interesting that so many of the reaction reviewers I’ve watched, who, like you, zoom in on Henrik‘s incredible bass lines. He, like Aron and Jonah are without a doubt masters of their craft! As a keyboard player, Jonah’s wizardry foors me…… ALWAYS!
It was so good to see the music just light up your soul. This is how this song made me feel. The talent was on another level as you stated. Almost bring tears to your eyes. Absolutely an incredible song that changes continuously and pulls you in both mentally and emotionally.
Were you tearing up? I hate to admit it I was. Next level outstanding musicianship does that to me sometimes when I'm caught off guard!! Don't tell. :)

This may have been a YEAR ago, but I just discovered this band. Your reaction is SO close to mine it's nuts. I couldn't sit still as I kept being amazed with every turn of phrase.... every brass lick... every drum riff, and the BASS!!! Too many words would be needed. Great reaction!
This was such a treat! Wow, new band for me as well, and loved the joy from the band (and also your genuine ecstatic reaaction was great!) Makes it almost worth it after you introduce me to the most terrible music sometimes..I mean it. Violence enducing terrible stuff. This one makes it worth the screaming and headache... I was waiting for Aurora, and now I can wait for more from this band. :D
Haha! Well, I’m honoured you’ve stuck around through the various heavy music I also enjoy listening to. Thanks Randy! Glad you enjoyed this one. For what’s it’s worth though, I don’t find heavy music remotely violence inducing personally. I find scream vocals to largely be a cathartic expression of emotion… when done well. As with any genre: some stuff is rubbish, others is brilliant. Gotta get used to the sound to then discover the benefits of it.
@@SteveOGRock Listen, it is a credit to you that I actually open my mind somewhat, and take a listen to the things you react to. And some of the artists are really good, I can see that, for sure. Your appreciation for them is clearly genuine, and even if it baffles me I can see the catharsis. I just wouldn't go in that direction for to look for that effect, I suppose. My playlist expands every day, and is embarassingly inconsistent. I move between Kurt Elling, Stromae, Aurora, Bruno Mars, and many other genres without any clear plans, and that's how I am I suppose. Added a couple of songs from Dirty Loops now! The amazing energy! Have a great Sunday, and keep putting diamonds in between the screaming!
Haha! Thanks Randy, I’ll do my best for ye. As you can probably tell from the wide variety of music I enjoy I’m all about the inconsistent music playlists. Variety is the spice of life and all that! My next video out today is not gonna be one you’ll love: lots of screaming. But it does have quite a nice pop vocal in the chorus so maybe check that bit out for the craic and then move on 😂
Dirty Loops is a rabbit hole worth exploring! From their early cover songs to the original music,, all good. Everything from their EP collab with Cory Wong is great, but if you want to see their musical chops I suggest 'Work shit Out" as a great second video to watch.
The recording of this is even more fantastic. The three swedes and the Us guys have never met. The swedes recorded in Stockholm and Cory guys in the US. Then mixed together!
Subscribed, in anticipation of more Dirty Loops stuff coming from you! Thanks for the reaction, spot on! I find "Coffee break is over" fun to both watch and listen to (purely instrumental). As someone said, it looks as though they just throw something together in a hotel room (which is not the case, but is still has a very relaxed atmosphere).

Well, that was fun to watch! Genuinely enjoyed your reaction and comments. Do follow the DL trail for a while - you will not be disappointed! In addition to others already mentioned, I'll suggest DL tracks "Rock You" and "Ta Fete". Also, for more focus on bass and drums check out "Pink Power", "Bitten by the Kitten" by Songs for Lovers (a DL side project). Thanks!
Oh Man I love your reaction 😂😂 and I agre it's amazing band
This is like the best reaction video ever! :) 👍👍👍👍👍
You're in for such a ride as an enthusiastic musician.
Rock You, Work Shit Out, World On Fire. Good start right there.
this guys are mind blowing.. what the heck man !!
The joy on your face is priceless. I thought u may just burst. Always a happy time while watching u react. Thanku
I honestly thought I might burst into a thousand glittering pieces haha. It was absolutely awesome stuff. I’ve been listening to this song pretty much on a loop ever since.
It was my first time hearing them also, I had the same reaction...the bass...so good!!..yes!!!
Love seeing you finding Dirty Loops for the first time. To get an idea where they started from, their cover of 'Rolling In The Deep' would be a great place to start...then maybe 'Hit Me' followed by 'Next To You' or anywhere you would like to go. Enjoy the experience as we soak up your discoveries. It should be magical.
Funny you mentioned "Rolling in the deep"! The Dirty Loop's version is really great, and in my odd way I still like the Adele version.
Great reaction👍. Love to follow your Dirtyl loop journey (I hope). You can’t miss “next to you” and “work shit out” if you continue down the rabbit hole
2 Great ones!! Excellent suggestions!
I'm glad I'm not the only one that makes those faces. Dirty Loops does it every time.
Yeah, this song lights you up, makes you feel alive!
I’d love your reactions to their version of Thriller, as well as Turbo, Next to You, Work Shit Out…. and so many more :D
Thought it was interesting how you pointed out not just their great chops and musicianship, but also their knack of crafting accessible, groove-along songs. When it comes to that, Dirty Loops always hit the mark for me.
Looking forward to more of your DL reactions, man 🔥
Thanks!
I was one of those who recommended Dirty Loops to you in the snarky puppy video, i knew you will love it -
god-tier musicians playing "playlist friendly" songs ;)
The core group is the singer/keys drummer and bass.
Thanks Robot! Glad to hear you enjoyed the video. I’ve had the song pretty much on solid loop since hearing it here. It’s maddeningly good.
Great reaction!! ”I feel Alive”, spot on!! 💥🤩
Love Dirty Loops. Try "Next to You" or the "Thriller" cover.
Were you tearing up? I hate to admit it I was. Next level outstanding musicianship does that to me sometimes when I'm caught off guard!! Don't tell. :)
Great reaction! Dirty Loops is awesome!
Welcome to Dirty Loops...
This is a rabbit hole well worth going down
Your reaction is great man.
Love this song so much and your reaction was the same as mine the first time I heard it. It makes me so happy.
A M A Z I N G reaction video, absolutely love it! I mean, the song is 100% incredible, but your joyous and appreciative reaction, complete with the knowledge and.....baaaaah, I have no words! :)
Man your reaction is priceless 👍😉
watching your joy listening to this could be a cure for so many ailments......love the music, love your reaction, can't wait to watch again and again.......just wish it could have been longer.......more please.....
Thanks cocoon!
Welcome to Dirty Loops! They are incredibly musical and also accessible. Try Thriller (also with Cory Wong) and Next to you by Dirty Loops. You will be blown away!
🤟🏻 sooooo good aren’t they?!
But it does have quite a nice pop vocal in the chorus so maybe check that bit out for the craic and then move on 😂
Can't wait to watch you watch them. Killer. Henrik is one of the only bass players who can waaay overplay, but totally ought to.
Welcome to the loopified.... Nice reaction.
Dirty Loops is a rabbit hole worth exploring!
From their early cover songs to the original music,, all good. Everything from their EP collab with Cory Wong is great, but if you want to see their musical chops I suggest 'Work shit Out" as a great second video to watch.
ETA:
Yeah I agree... Dirty Loops are incredible musicians and still find a way to have an accessible pop twist to their dirty fusion.
The recording of this is even more fantastic. The three swedes and the Us guys have never met. The swedes recorded in Stockholm and Cory guys in the US. Then mixed together!
"Michael Jackson has possessed his body" - Steve
You nailed it off the first few words.
😁
This song is pure dopamine.
My god, the musicians are ridiculous, and the vocals are so solid!
Loved this reaction! I smiled the whole time
Subscribed, in anticipation of more Dirty Loops stuff coming from you! Thanks for the reaction, spot on! I find "Coffee break is over" fun to both watch and listen to (purely instrumental). As someone said, it looks as though they just throw something together in a hotel room (which is not the case, but is still has a very relaxed atmosphere).
Thanks! No question that more Dirty Loops is on the way over the next few weeks. I absolutely loved this.
I love your reaction! Seeing people discover Dirty Loop (here with Cory Wong and brass) is pure joy! 😃
You have a lot more to enjoy!!
Ps. Did you see the face of Grace Kelly during Henrik’s solo?! 😄
Grace Kelly is a joy and a great musician in her own right!
Haha I didn’t clock her on first listen but noticed that face later. So funny. Like “wtf man that is outrageous”
@@imuawarriors Yes, she really is!! 😊
@@SteveOGRock Right?! 🙂 Love when you see the joy of musicians!
@@SteveOGRock Yeah. . When the "sax chick" makes the "stank face" you *KNOW* it's FUNKAYYY!
And yes - Dirty Loop is Aron (drums), Henrik (bass) and Jonah (keyboard, vocal) 😊
Yessirrrrrrrr! Your reaction is 100% on-point! You just picked up a subscriber because I can't wait to see you react to more of their stuff!
Still absolutely wonderful to watch this reaction! Mmmmmm, so joyful, uplifting, fun. Like find a large gold nugget, but in the form of a band and a base player.
Joy joy joy … almost brought you to tears, eh? Ya, me too. 🔥🔥
Dirty Loops was the trio on the right side of the screen (filmed in Sweden) Cory Wong on guitar, horns, etc on left side (filmed in Minneapolis I believe). They collab’d on a whole album (I believe). Just discovered these guys and still trying to figure it all out.
Really enjoyed your reaction! Subscribed. Love to see you do some more Dirty Loops. Thanks so much!
Cory Wongs band was just at the Filmore in Philly Feb.2nd
Great reaction Steve. If you enjoyed this one then their song "Next To You" will knock you out of your chair. Hope to see you react to that one soon.
These guys are AMAZING 😉 The bass playing edges on the unbelievable.
I could see the same feeling I had when I heard the chorus the first time in your face lol. If I could only hear one song the rest of my life - it’s this one. They are so amazing!
My FAVORITE band hands down 🥰 Listen to "Work Shit Out" The amazing never ends.
Great reaction and analysis!
Can't sit still when I hear Dirty Loops! You just got to move and feel happy!
Rock You, Work Shit Out... and..... yeees... Next To You!!!!
I hope you took a deep dive down the rabbit hole of Dirty Loops. Everything they do will blow your mind - every time.
I did indeed! If you search through my channel’s videos I’ve done loads since!
Welcome to the world of Dirty Loops! Prepare to have your mind blown. Every. Single. Time.
Great reaction to a great song. I'd recommend Work Shit Out, Breakdown, World on Fire... I mean, you can't go wrong with any of their songs. Ring of Saturn with Cory Wong is also amazing.
Check out the song , Diamond Ring ,Jonah Neilson Vocalist /keys from Dirty Loops with Steve Vai
It is called a gong bass. It is essentially a single headed stand mounted bass drum. Very cool, low, dry tone.
thanks A llLOTtt for your positive reactions, and the recent Henrick Linder interview !!! just to add something, I' m sure you'd be delighted to read at least once the credits till the end of Dirty Loops videos... love their sense of humor there. Can't wait your next share 🙂
thats how you make a reaction....REACT is the name of this game....excellent
I want them to play this live at my funeral.
🤣
Nice reaction )) Glad you like it !! LOL........Remember, i told you about good Bass player in Dirty loops !!)) (( Henrik Linder !!)) Henrik Linder is a Swedish musician and the bass player of the Stockholm-based band Dirty Loops. Linder attended the Royal College of Music where he collaborated with vocalist and pianist Jonah Nilsson along with drummer Aron Mellergårdh. Together, the three of them formed Dirty Loops !! Next try out Work Shit Out, and Next To You ??)) Best regards Petter Ness....))))
Wonderful reaction! Get ready for a parade of similar ones as you check out the entire DL catalogue. I strongly recommend “Next To You” and “World On Fire” from last year’s “Phoenix” EP. Both feature masterful performances, arrangements, and compositional skills.
Next to you and Rock You. Can't go wrong.
Love your reaction to this Steve, my first time hear8mg this was almost as orgasmic!
😁
oh there are many great songs from dirty loops. my personal favs are Crash & burn Delight, Hit me, Next to you and Rock you! highly recommanded to listen to em!
That big drum is called a gong drum.
Truly one of the best songs I've ever heard.
That funk though. 😲
And I’m back over a year later to watch your reaction again! This is one of my most fav reactions ever! ❤️ Ah, that plucking & funk! :)
‘’Next to you” is awesome as is Breakdown” and “ta fete”. But dirty loops is a 3 member band. The BASS was made for Henrik to play it., he is OUTSTANDING!!!
"I feel alive!" Heck yes. What a perfect summary of the experience.
The singer, Jonah Nillson has a FANTASTIC track called Diamond Ring w/ a solo by Steve Vai. More musical joy!
