Kakashi Hatake Kanji originated from Chinese characters so they are inherently complicated (i.e. meaning and pronunciation can differ based on usage). Hiragana and Katakana, on the other hand, are much simpler. If I were to compare them to the english language, these are basically two ways of writing the alphabet. You'll sometimes find hiragana written on top of some kanji because they're just that hard.

Most Kanji words have the same origin in Classical Chinese, especially the difficult, rare ones. I can say from experience, I thought kanji was one of the most intimidating and unnecessary writing system to learn. But after a while, with the right approach, it IS the most fun thing to learn in the japanese language ever! What a great game

As a Chinese I can UNDERSTAND about 85% of the kanji. Mind you, just understanding, there sure are a lot of similarities between Korean, Japanese and Chinese
Sunny S The only similarities really come from the historical use of Kanji characters across all three languages and the very simple yet systematic grammar that all three languages use. Aside from that, there are just differences upon differences, so much that it's difficult to confuse them and they aren't even in the same linguistic family.
