Kai-Min Chang was fabulous. Did you all notice how the conductor loved working with him and even after having just learned it Kai -Min's Beethoven was flawless. A legend.
I wish Mr. Kai-Min Chang that can successfully win the final award of the 2024 Leeds International Piano Competition.
Bravo🎉 Kai Min Chang 👏
I love all his performances in the competition . He’s such a talented and expressive pianist that stands out from the others.
Beethoven 4 is quite possibly the best piano concerto ever written. A bold choice from Mr. Chang.
It's a pleasure to visit Yorkshire to listen to these very talented pianists.
I was there Junyan was another level...pure beauty from her natural playing and joy she is so happy ...i was in the cheap seats looking at her face
Tehnički besprekoran,duhovit,vrcav,očaravajući.Bravo!❤
which one?
Junyan! Wow, I think she’s a star. The word that kept coming to my head as she was playing was ELECTRIFYING. Honestly I may have shed a tear or two.
ja płaczę jak bóbr już trzeci raz
For me in this session best is equally Julian Trevelyan & Kai-Min Chang!
Junyan Chen's performance will be remembered for a looong time. Just extraordinary.
Enjoyed Chen's Rachmaninoff!
I love the refinement, depth and structure of Kai-Min's playing. I was impressed by him in another competition (Chopin I think?), but unfortunately judges don't always go for that type of interpretation. He's my favorite so far.
Loved Junyan
Watching from Victoria British Columbia Canada. Have enjoyed the competition immensely!
I would give the prize to all of them
That opening segment was beautifully edited! But calling them 'former winners' is totally incorrect - they are PAST winners, and will always be winners.
Cada acordé en tiempo al unisono perfecto los tiempos orquesta maravillosa felicitaciones 🎉
Great orquesta ❤
Junyan is such a joy to watch … not only her playing but her soul exudes happiness and joy. Well done and bravo!!
Junyan! What a pianist!!
The orchestra was VERY good. I’d expect nothing less.
Bravo to all, especially the last one! Can´t wait to listen to the other 2 tomorrow.
Büszkék vagyunk itt Magyarországon, Budapesten, hogy Bartók Béla zongoraversenye előadásra kerül.
Wonderfully poetic and expressive Kai-Min Chang. Reminds me of Tohomaru Ushida who inexplicably didn't make the finals...
But how does one compare performances of such wildly different repertoire?
With difficulty, as always, but when you hear a star you know it, whatever the repertoire.
Woah!
Go Junyan!
Yes to unshowy performances. Let the arms-fingers-keys do the talking, not grimacing faces or writhing bodies.
Isn't it about the music? Just shut your eyes.
The const looking at the conduct resulted in several missed key strikes z he’s not watching…

An underwhelming Rach
This competition has lost all credibility. Not because I may or may not agree with the jury's choices but because 1) I know from personal communication that the jury members do not always know the repertoire being played, although complete repertoire lists are submitted months in advance 2) deciding finalists on the basis of gender is ludicrous, even if well-intentioned 3) the stature of the jury members is not comparable to the juries during Dame Waterman's years
And sadly the repertoire hasn't really moved on since her time. The three 'B's with a smattering of Rach and Chopin. Boring competition and now woke as well.
Sometimes I wonder if they play the same old same old because they know the jurors only know that repertoire. That's a bit of an exaggeration, but I know participants who have been penalized because the jurors SAID that they didn't know the pieces!!@@mrspoonofbuttonmoon
"Dame Waterman" 😂
I don't know what fluke of juryism made the Brit reach the finals.
@@TichmanClassCologne I was going to say it's incredible that they'd actually admit to doing that - but then the Leeds looks like exactly the kind of hierarchical status-driven environment where it's entirely credible.
Taiwan No.1
Compare to Eric’s Beethoven piano concerto 4 in Leeds , Eric is away better 😂😂😂😂😂
I must say that this is your opinion, and they are not in the same competition🤔
@@juju066 obvs you are his relative haha
@@dd-jd3yohaha
You have good sense of humor!
I will go check out Eric’s Beethoven No. 4, since you highly recommend.
May the best competitor win !
Not impressed with the repertoire.
What would you prefer? There’s Prokofiev 3 and Brahms 2 tonight.
The weakest of Rachmaninoff's piano Concerti. At least she dressed up for the final concert.
What an odd comment. She has been beautifully dressed each round.
Listen to this version as played by Olga Kern here on YT. The best since Michaelangeli. Adsnes is also wonderful.
