It's a very lovely impression of a cat. I like the way you changed the fur color to just a little warmer, although that cool hint of gray in the original is really beautiful. A couple of things - the picture does seem to be... a little muted. The kitty seems to fade/blend into the background and I wonder if that was intentional. Also, the tail seems huge for a kitten, to me, and it seems to sort of be suspended and rigid at the same time. It makes the kitten look like she's sitting on a ledge or something. And the fur is not backlit as it is in the original - there's something wonderful and soft about the way the light shines through the hairs around the kitten. The background seems a bit nondescript - like it's almost a throwaway. Like, you really can't tell where this kitten is. Anyway - it's nice, I just noticed those things. I don't know if they matter or not.
Find a set of paints that you can use to paint anything. For me this is cad yellow lemon, yellow ochre, cadmium vermillion, quinacridone magenta, cobalt teal, ultramarine and transparent red oxide
