    Man, Schofield is the best blues player in the world right now. You can hear all of the SRV, BB King, Albert King, Hendrix and Freddie King influence but he's absolutely got his own unique sound and phrasing. Going to study and learn everyone of these songs and licks until I have Matt in my own sound.

      +Brandon Look Matt is great but check out Eric Gales, he kills it as well, Robbin Ford, Scott Henderson there are many more....all of them great who is better? hah not going there

      +Brandon Look Subjective view, I think Matt is awesome but the next man might not. One of the best and there are many at the moment to cater for everyone's ear :)

      @brandonterzic 8 років тому

      +Brandon Look eh...eh...well... I can stomach him more than Bonnamassa...but to my taste he just doesn't have IT...its just not there...he has the chops and the moves and he put in the time and I appreciate it...but the guy just isn't present enough in what he is doing to move the heart...Eric Gales and Derek Trucks are the two guys that come to mind...Also Gary Clark Jr.....three very different artists but they have some kind of intrinsic relationship to what they are doing.....

    • @jonnywillrock
      @jonnywillrock 8 років тому

      (Marion James)Wow man. Do YOU have "it"? You sure have a rather high expectation and can pass judgement like nobodies business. I guess I'm not sure what it is you are talking about. What is it this guy is lacking that you can explain to me? Every player is different and he is pretty damn good I think anybody would say that. To say "its just not there" is kind of high and mighty and just plain not true dude. An opinion is one thing but you don't state it as such but instead as a fact. Which it just isn't. Sorry. You're wrong.

    Thanks, man. Matt is unbelievable, one of my all time favorites, and he was on, to say the least. While zooming in on Matt usually is great, the song's the thing and I wish you had pulled back a bit more and let us see the band. But the sound was great, Matt was great, and having it on video is awesome!

      Yes, That will be THE concert to go to in the next 12 months; the 2015 Tampa Bay Blues Festival lineup is a disappointment-they should have had gotten the bands playing at the Sunshine Blues Fest; I will be there for sure getting more great videos; where are you located in the Tampa area?

      Thanks Gary; Matt Schofield is a monster player-you know you are in the presence of greatness when you see Matt in concert. And I've seen some of the best since the 70s-Clapton 2x, Beck 2x, Santana, Rory Gallagher, SRV, etc.

    He's very fluid. In order to play like this, you need to play well through chord changes and use major 3rds. He's one of my favorites. Awesome stuff and thanks!

    • @ProbableCauseBluesBand
      @ProbableCauseBluesBand 9 років тому

      +Stewart Gerhart Yeah man he can string endless licks together sometimes changing key over the chord changes. He's very fluid takes a long time to get that fluid, I don't think he messes up much if any. If he does he's a master like Clapton and can cover it up.

    Hi Robert,
    Thanks for capturing a whole concert of one of my favorite artists out there! My question to you is what video equipment did you use to capture this? The video and audio seem really good! Thanks in advance for responding.

    • @alexpavchinski
      @alexpavchinski  10 років тому

      Hi Frankie: Just used a Canon SX50HS in 1280 HD Mode on tripod. The sound and mix for the Matt Schofield performance was Excellent, so I was lucky to capture it under ideal conditions. A few turbulent moments where I moved to the Promoter's Guest area(just to the left of the VIP area right in front of the stage) to get a different shooting angle, and they hassled me to get back to the VIP area in mid-song! I also filmed the Buddy Guy performance, and the audio mix onstage was not nearly as good. Also check out the After Show at The Palladium Theater; audio not quite as good as this one, but a must-see for Matt Schofield fans, including 11 year-old Brandon Niederauer jamming on "Got To Be Some Changes Made."

    • @frankie2t0ne
      @frankie2t0ne 10 років тому

      Robert Taylor Matt's front of house sound is always really good no matter what venue he plays (an amazing feat all in its own). And your camera placement also had to do a lot with it. You were set up closer to Jonny Henderson who is carrying the bass lines/low frequencies (the hardest thing to record well live when you don't have access to direct feed)

      Thanks Tom; It took a few hours for the entire concert to upload; about the same for all of the individual videos from this show. The browser makes a Huge difference; do not use IE; I had to switch to Google Chrome after the initial attempt to upload took way too long.

    • @ProbableCauseBluesBand
      @ProbableCauseBluesBand 9 років тому

      +krelbar Not arguing, but is there anything new? I mean I love all of the blues guys, old school and new, but lets face it unless you play a 20 strings guitar with a canoe paddle while juggling chainsaws there ain't much left that hasn't been played to shreds by all the greats that've already come around! But man it's still awesome music and makes my soul happy to hear it! Plus he just seems like he'd be a super nice guy to hang with!

    • @krelbar
      @krelbar 9 років тому +1

      +Todd Hooper I tend to agree, but I was basically speaking within the context of blues. But you have a point.
      The originality comes in a player that can combine all styles and add their own personal flair to it.
      You know, those guitarists who you can recognize as soon as you hear them?
      Matt Schofield is not one of them.

    • @ProbableCauseBluesBand
      @ProbableCauseBluesBand 9 років тому

      +krelbar yes indeed, that is the hard part. that's why I tend to dislike shred, no instant recognition mostly just gain.

    • @krelbar
      @krelbar 9 років тому

      +Todd Hooper Depends what 'shred' you are talking about. Listen to Richie Kotzens catalog...the guy can play anything, and he hasn't used high gain in years.
