In a way this reminds me of Congo Square.

Larry was a dear friend and showed me his moves on this tune as he did for many other compositions. He was among the greatest artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. I was honored to open for him in St. Petersburg and speak at his wake in Orlando. I miss him every day, but am sure we all do.

I saw Larry do a piece like this solo back in 1977. It inspired me for years as a guitarist.

I got a guitar lesson from Larry back in '75 at the Gorham Hotel in NYC. I still have "Birdfingers" written out on paper by him. The whole story is pretty hilarious how it all happened and how gracious he was. This version of "She's Leaving Home" is amazing. My fav Beatles song. Thank you for everything Larry from the kid from the Bronx. 8))

i always thought that Larry was a pretty good guitarist, and i was right.

I just started to play in 1990/1991 and Wanted to lear Zep, Hendrix, Floyd, Cream et al. I always thought it was Steely Dan a couple years later which got me headed toward Fusion and Jazz. But then I remeber the Seville Expo 1991 and Larry Coryell and Stanley Clarke playing "School Days" and that was the moment I knew I wanted to go beyond Blues Rock (which I still love). Never did get that White Les Paul Custom like he was playing.

Saw Larry in 1979 at Hofstra University. He was warm up for Jon McClothlen . After playing his Ovation Adama , he finished by picking up the electric guitar on stage and blows us all away with a great solo . Saw again at least six more times . Once in Houston TX in the early eighties. Final time seeing him was at the IMAC in Huntington NY . The way he played harmonics on his acoustic seemed magical to me that night . I could go on......

Now, now - music is a journey, not a competition. Matt's pedigree is unmistakable, his range of expression & blues vocabulary is remarkably deep & wide. Tons of tone, so on top of his game that the low sound quality didn't matter. Like those old Django or Robert Johnson recordings, the light shines through. Thanks for posting, OP!

I saw Larry Coryell in late 1978 in Atlanta ga only about 100 people came to his show he was pretty amazing that night. The soul is eternal.
