We need more youthful 40+ UA-camrs like you to share because the space is so saturated and focused on the 20 something yr olds that are just having fun and no substance. I’ve always enjoyed the quality of your content. I look forward to seeing what you have to say and share. Big up to the 35 and over crew!

As a 40 yr old I don't look up to the Bella's, the Kendall's, Addison Rae or any other young and famous influencer. They're borderline children to me. It's nice being a full adult that literally isn't influenced by the bullshit. There's tons of great content with non 20 something's here :)

@@cassondralynch6342 I agree for the most part. I haven’t found many 40+ UA-camrs who look much younger than 40+, dress hip and stylish and are women of color on UA-cam. I’m looking for those channels, Maya is one of them and another is Fumi Vold Desalu. I feel like I relate more to that category. I just discovered another channel, focused at forty. Very small channel but good content. I’m open for more suggestions if you have. 😊

I think even for women who don't want to become mothers, it's vital that we learn about postpartum care so we know how we can support our friends, sisters, and aunties. I am 48 y/o childfree, and just graduated as a mental health counselor with a sub-niche in traumatic births. I started my program at 41, but life happened, and I had to take a break for a couple of years. Girl, the forties, mentally, are so grounding! Thank you for sharing your journey with us, Maya!

I remember being almost 3O feeling the same way , but 30 is actually still very young!😂 You are really just starting real adult life then . Iam 41 now and people always think Iam either in my late 20’s or 30. Enjoy your season because you still have such much life ahead of you . Like Maya I got married to a toxic man at 31 and then divorced almost a year later. I am not married to the man of my dreams you loves God and treats me with unconditional love. There is no time frame where you need accomplish something . Those are the worlds standards. Gods got you life in His hands if you let Him. My hubby started his two successful business at 29/30 and now we are almost multimillionaires . Again, life is your journey and when we compare ourselves to others we are doing ourselves an unjust service .

I turned 30 last year and I am wondering about life too. My uncle mentioned to me that it gets better in your 30's. I mean, isn't the whole thing really about not wanting to look old? That's what it is for me (who does) and at 40 you don't. I can't believe society is so ageist it's brave and celebrated to be ok and proud about being 40 lol. It's sad! No shade on her or anyone here, but lets talk again when we all start having marks on our bodies that last months just for gently bumping something, our skin sags, our hair loses it's luster and we become practically invisible to people. Especially men. I feel like that's the apt time to be cheering one another on in a world that made any damn sense.

Im 31 going on 32 but I don’t physically look or actually feel like it. Just knowing that I am in my 30s I feel like I’ve been stressed, anxious and just in this constant circle of confusion for the past few years about where my life feeling is going. Feeling like I’m running out of time and just beating down on myself about my life and myself just not being where I thought it would be at this point. It’s been hard trying to figuring out what I want to do as far as if I still want children, marriage and choosing a partner. As well as trying to figure out my career, and deciding if should try putting more efforts into creating content or go into the direction of being a business owner or going in a completely different direction all together for me to get to the stable, secure and fulfilled point I’m yearning for.

I'm late to your video but omg I'm already tearing up with the beginning of your video 🥹 I'm so happy that you are now a Postpartum Doula 👏🏻👏🏻 So so so happy for you Maya! I am 41 and I have this itch to do something new like change careers, become an artist and take skills class to learn to make crafts/art and cooking/baking homemade bread and nourishing meals. Lately, I've been feeling joyless because I'm still on the path of comfort and not being true to myself. Definitely feel like I need to change up the environment or myself. Let's not say we are old. We are just WISE! Can't wait to see what else you will share with us. 😊😊

You know how many actual old people would kill to be 41? I'm 41 as well and of course we aren't f'ng old! Absurd. Don't let society f you around like that. That's silly as hell.

I also seek to be that change and change the narrative, give women a chance to live well and thrive in at whatever age they are without compromising on their natural rhythms. LETS DO THISSSSSSSS

I'm turning 30 in a few months and I love hearing your perspective. Over the last couple of years I've had to make really challenging/scary decisions in order to protect my overall sense of wellbeing. It led me away from "safe" choices and towards living in the moment, seeing where life takes me and doing what I WANT to do instead of what I've been told I SHOULD do. It's been really hard feeling like other people judge my choices because I'm not trying to tether myself to one standard life path and also terrifying because what if they're right and I end up failing. It's definitely been a challenging practice to embrace the fear and trust myself.
Hearing you talk about how satisfied you are with your life choices, even the ones that brought you pain, was like a balm to my nervous system lol I honestly look forward to 40.

Maya thank thank thank you for this! ❤I’ve watched you from the beginning and watched you blossom. I’m 40 and at first I limited myself with what others say about 40 year olds. I don’t feel 40 and that’s that. Another thing, your so right conversations about pregnancy-before and after are need to educate women and men more. Postpartum depression is sometimes apart of your birth story, that being said we need to be prepared for the curve balls in life. We need to teach that to our future generation just in case. Postpartum is a nightmare especially when there is a stigma around it and, heck people just don’t talk about it. We are taught to just deal with it. Also, your overall expectations when giving birth, can change. My first daughter was in the NICU for the whole stay at the hospital due to the doctors thinking she had a heart murmur, which was actually reflux. I had never even imagined having to leave her there for additional days after being discharge. It was not in my birth plan. The way I see it though we grow through things to help others. So yea these stories need to be passed on, talked about, and normalized. Being a doula sounds amazing. I love birth, pregnancy, and children. It’s magical and you need support through these times. Thank you sooo much for your content!! Your awesome! ❤💕

Thank you Mya 🙏🏾 As a mother in the military, I’ve found it very difficult. I didn’t know how hard it would be compounded by my obligation to be in a uniform. At the time if you had a vaginal birth according to military regulations, you got 6 weeks off and expected to return to work, it has since changed. God forbid you had baby blues or postpartum. To not be understood or felt seen and then to be expected to perform at your given rank….a lot to say the least. However I’m on the down slope of my career and will be retiring soon. I have a 11 & 9 yr. Sometimes I honestly feel like I’m failing as a mother and also in uniform. The balance has been hard. Anyway, just sharing a piece of my story. Thank you 🙏🏾 Oh and I’ll be 43 this month!

Yes! There is really a transformation when you enter your 40’s especially for a woman. In my 30’s when people use to say that I couldn’t really imagine what can possibly change but it’s definitely clear. The thing is you can miss the vibrate light in your 40’s if your mind is not in the right place and if you do not begin to live all of your dreams. I turned 41 this year and it almost like introspection kicks in the second after 40 kicked in. Your right mind begin to tap into that child like mind of fun and imagination and you have nothing to lose but to go for it and it feels dam good! Life really does begin at 40 for alot of us. It’s pretty amazing! Love your story!
