Chris, you are one of my goto reacters for Ren music. First, thank you for stating that you should do a bit of research on the original music to understand Ren's retakes; that is key for those who are not familiar with old hiphop or even contemporary. Next, there is a great deal involved in rapping, such as rhythem, enunciation, lyricism, flow and style. Ren seems to have it all considering how he changes it up so often. In this retake it seems like bog standard rap but there is nuance that we get from Ren always. You can find that nuance much easier than us and we appreciate your discoveries as much as the lyrical breakdowns of others. Tell me about how difficult it is to do this. Oh wait, you did!

Ren's retakes are always multiple things: All retakes are not monetized and he wants to show his love for those artists while educating people on great music in the process.
    All of them.
They are also never covers but reintepretations in various and creative ways.
Bringing musical culture to life one retake at a time.
    It's just an awesome experience.
And here he is basically saying: Pay respect to the greats that came before me and that are not longer with us, BUT more importantly value them while they are STILL ALIVE.
Which he did here with Nas.
You have to love it and respect it.
He also changed the beat in various ways in a very dope way if you pay attention and did callbacks for other Nas songs within the lyrics of this retake.
And more eastereggs that I do not want to spoil. :D

I appreciate your courage in venturing into something you intially might have not exposed yourself to. And you came away with something valuable. Sure, your mind might not have been blown by all of the hidden doubles, triple, and references that others might have -- _but that didn't stop you from appreciating it_ -- and that speaks volumes on your character and integrity.

Chris, when you stop to think that 12 year old Ren was making mixed tapes and selling them at Medieval Fairs his hippie parents took him to, he is a library of all music in all generations. What kid of the 90's listened to Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, 20'30's and 40' classics? Ren has enlisted all of it in his, I Love This Music collection. He rhythms in his sleep and even makes beats that he wakes and puts to memory. More than an anomaly, it's just Ren.

Great reaction, thank-you! I had seen the vid how showed of Ren practicing his speed, and I saw another one where he kept pushing to sing longer w/o a breath. While we all appreciate his amazing talent which he shares with us.. but we also need to appreciate him for HOW he’s gotten so amazing!

Great reaction! You definitely brought a lot to this analysis even if you aren't a rapper. Yet.
I'd like to recommend "Swan Song" by The Big Push. The harmonies between Ren, Gorran, and Romain are exquisite.

I'm also using Ren as a gateway into genres that I have not explored. The lyrical references come thick and fast in this one, "Waviest Guy" refers to NAS' first MC name Kid Wave and his later track Wave God. The Nuclear lines call back to the Atom Breaker album NAS first appeared on. The more I learn, the more I appreciate REN's craft.

The lyrics? The flow? The delivery? The performance? All out of this World! As always! :) But... All the added audio in the Ren remix!? Especially the guitar! Just fantastic! :)
Btw, I think you missed the couple of lines before the 'troubles on the page line. They're brilliant! :)

I have been listening to ren and the big push alot lately, and the song "Goodbye Good Days" by the french guitarist Romain Axisa is such a beautiful song and it has such beautiful vocals ! I was wondering if you could check it out because, he deserves alot more credit than he gets for his solo stuff ! Love your reactions aswell man!

Ren is siiiiiick 🔥 And this is the sickest ad for some sick boi merch 😂
Seriously though, Ren showing love for music he loves with his ReNtakes is yet another reason to love this sick boi. Somehow he manages to be humble and show respect for other artists while spitting braggadocios bars 😅 Not quite sure how that’s even possible, but hey it’s Ren doing Ren things 🤣

Thank you very much for having that respect to remind people they should listen to the original artist. It’s hard to understand where Ren is personally coming from with his interpretation without knowing where it comes from. Especially when it comes to something from NaS. NaS is so well loved and respected in rap culture that trying to take on something like this very hard. IMO it’s something that can break someone’s career so easily!
That brings me to the part at the end of your video here of you recognizing Rens hard work…. I honestly think without his hard work and respect for the art and artist he wouldn’t have been able to make this a great tribute!

It is also exactly Half the Time as the original Halftime.
There are a ton of hidden meanings like "waviest guy" is a nod to Nas started out as Kid Wave. Last line is a famous Nas line from another song. Ren is a complete genius & researcher of all music history when he is on a project.
