In my view, Ren is more than a genius. He is a hero. He speaks for all of us who have faced intolerable pain and suffering, misdiagnosis and indifference. I have forgiven God as well. In any case, I doubt that God ever judges. He/She leaves that to us. Thanks for your reaction Chris.
He is important. When he said, in an interview with NME that he used to hate that he talked about his problems, and then he realised he had to bite the bullet, and reach out so that more people felt seen, he spoke his philosophy. I lost my friend to suicide, then was left for dead in the road after a drink driver smashed into me in my bike. It was Ren that helped me evade the darkness. He is, ultimately, important.
@@AidyShawwow, wonderful input to this! There hasn’t been anyone like Ren huh!? I have never felt so heard, though I just listens to his words. His words are our words somehow!
The music Ren was writing in his teens during the Trick the Fox era was good enough to chart & do well on its own. The difference once he started injecting his life experiences into his writing is night & day though, & took a truly gifted artist & made him one of the greats. Even if he never releases another song, I think he will be remembered & continually re-discovered by each new generation. 💜
Ren gives Hope to people who need it, myself included. I have been told the awful pain I live with everyday of my life for 15 years is in my head 😢. Thanks Chris
Congratulations! 1 day at a time, I'll have 12 years on July 27th! I was thinking 13, but apparently, I don't know how to count! 🤣 Believe in yourself! Hold your head up high, work with a sponsor and plant your butt in a meeting! And let go & let God (higher power). You got this! 🙏🖖🏻💙🦋
hey Chris, thanks man, it's good to feel seen. i was diagnosed with "fibromyalgia" about 20 years ago after about a further 10 years of being told "it's all in your head". before that i was outgoing, i had friends, i would walk or run for miles, i had a very active social life. now my life consists of music and video games. the video games are as close as i'll ever come to the outside world and the music keeps me as close to sane as whatever this is! i'm 56 years old and i live in my bedroom. Ren is absolutely the reason i'm still here. i don't believe in a God or Gods but i feel like Ren is here for a reason. all i know is the world needs him right now.🙂
@davidperkins6752 Man I can so relate. It was so good to finally get my fibro diagnosis 12 years ago so I knew what was wrong. But now I’m still suffering so what good did it do to get the diagnosis??
It's good that you talk about this too Chris - it's appreciated. Awareness is so useful. Many people don't recognize that someone can be so ill, while looking "normal."
Been sitting here trying to find the words to describe how Im feeling. I've had ME for 27 years. It has gotten worse over the years, and I feel more and more of myself go missing along with it. Thank you so much Chris for amplifying Ren's voice and adding your own story. The more we talk about it, the more visible we become.
Knowing that there are multiple connections between you and Ren--that you helped him learn his craft before you knew who he was, and that he has created music that you relate to on a personal level-- that is a beautiful thing.
the energy that we are able to share between one another as open, vulnerable beings is truly amazing! Together, we are so much bigger than just ourselves!!!!
The "Missing" Chapters(8 of them), on his "Ren Makes Stuff" youtube channel, are really amazing to listen to, hear, and understand. Truly brings context and clarity to this track.
Exactly right. His message is for his listeners. To help those who are still missing and the medical community too. Fantastic track. Thanks for your reaction. ❤
Huh - I hadn’t really thought about the transposition of “Forgive me Lord” to “Lord I forgive you” until you highlighted it. That’s very profound. Thanks Chris. Thanks Ren.
My favourite reaction to this song ❤ I have been struggling myself mentally in the recent past, and now my wife got sick with severe chronic fatigue (probably post-covid related). Ren was my angel and continues to be...
Thank you sir. Your closing comments from 7:00 minutes in are spot on and really sum up why Ren touches people like no other artist has managed to do. Certainly in my three score and ten on this earth. Unfortunately some just judge his music on a superficial level and they have not taken the time, nor had the opportunity to discover who this amazing humble man really is. Sadly a few reactors have chosen to do reactions to Ren's chapters. Most have not, simply out of respect for his intimacy and being so vulnerable. Kia kaha from NZ
❤ #ren #troubles #verahall ❤ What a beautiful soul to be standing strong & doing incredible is amazing. Such a wonderful human, inspirational & giving many that hope & fire to fight on 💗🖤💗
I loved what you said about Ren creating connectivity, that's exactly it. We need more artists like that, who are emotionally real but also transmute their pain. I relate a lot, having my own chronic health journey I'm on and also want this song to go crazy! He's giving voice to many people, who suffer and feel absolutely desperate. Apart from the fact, that he's a brilliant artist in my view.
The one thing I have learned is that I have to be an advocate for my own health…just like how Ren did it through his painful journey. I had to research, find a second opinion, ask questions and if I wasn’t getting answers, I searched more. Thank you Ren. Great reaction btw.
As a Chronic Pain Endurer, [I no longer truly suffer, it IS about Mindset,] Ren's journey through his "Missing" series was heartbreakingly familiar, horrifyingly alien [his pain being more than mine except at my very wort times,] and yet eternally hope-filled. I also hope and pray that Troubles explodes like Hi Ren did. The world needs this song and to find Missing too. Not all nearly unendurable pain is caused by the body, after all. Ren knows mental struggle and pain as well as anyone, likely more. Thank you Chris, I am eagerly watching for my favorite reactors to listen to this track, I know you'd be on it immediately!
I'm sorry to hear you've been through the wringer with chronic pain too Chris. I have a fibro diagnosis and find Ren's words a huge comfort. I think I've yet to escape the mindset of anger and frustration. I've tried to do the work but I'm just so sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. Thanks for sharing that detail as every story of someone transcending this kind of illness (to whatever degree) gives me hope, which is what I really need right now. Thanks for echoing Ren.
I'm not entirely sure why but I needed this reaction today, thank you! One of Rens many gifts is the ability to make the unrelatable relatable, while many of us have never and hopefully will never go where he's been we all recognise the humanity in him and it make us all that bit better.
I also want to spread the message of this song to everyone. HOPE Please; everyone share the video, and play it to boost the algorithm. I don't have this specific life complication, yet can understand through Ren's art how important it is to be heard.
Another great review. I’m sure you saw him talking about the making of Hi Ren, and he said the first thing he had to do to get better and was acceptance. Which took him a long time he finally had to say don’t be better and angry that you can’t do the things you wanna do and things your friend are doing you have to be thankful for the hand that you dealt, and that it wasn’t worse. I figure out how to make the best of it. Truly amazing perspective for someone his age. I mean how crazy is it that he kept asking them to take bloodwork and check for pathogens they told him he was crazy and just seeking medication or an answer different from what it really was his mental psychosis. And all that time they never even checked him even though we begged them over and over. That’s a tough pill to swallow. I’m surprised he’s not more angry than he is but he’s obviously gone through all the emotions and realizes that anger won’t help people or get doctors to listen or promote change. He’s a special special person human artist son. Friend!
Ren is a musical genius and gives hope for those without a voice. I'm one of the missing from my own life. 18 years with ME. Made to feel it's all in your mind. I refuse to say CFS. Medical professionals made me feel that I had (Lazy Bastard Syndrome). I have fought to hold down a full-time job and keep doing so. Great reaction. Love from Scotland. 🏴
Hi Chris - you’re always worth listening to😁. Yes, Ren is so much more than a really talented singer/musician - I hope it goes crazy too!! Btw Disco Doc’s reaction is really interesting - he talks about Vera Hall and touches upon how Moby used her - really recommend it - makes you think. Best wishes x
When you look within we all can relate. if its not one thing its another that happens in ones life but knowing you are not alone. I love how Ren wants 😢to help up lift others look at his king dotta diss. To me seems he rather be the change of hope.
I have to wonder if the "Hollywood spat me out" statement on his jacket is possibly about his biography as a movie project? There was talk of Ren being in talks with Netflix and possibly others about a project following the release of his Money game 3 video. It is pure speculation on my part but wondering if he pitched his life story as some sort of biopic to Hollywood and they passed??
The Netflix project is still on the back burner until he gets his albums out this year. He and Sam have been working on ideas for a long time. Ren has written a pilot and maybe a couple episodes. It hasn't been presented to Netflix yet. This man is crazy busy!

I have fibromyalgia and im a huge fan of REN. He's brought so much from the dark to the light. Thank you for just showing this in the nature it needed. ✨🙏
With great power comes great responsibility, and Ren is truly a hero! He is using his growing powers and platform for so much more than simply creating brilliant music. Ren has said that he always had this feeling that he was meant to change the world for the better. So much that he defiantly yelled a challenge to evil into an empty room. And then he got sick… Ren has now shared the full story of his health journey in 8 video chapters leading up to the release of this song and what a journey it has been. I love that you have watched them and even checked out the recent interview by Knox. If anyone hasn’t already watched the videos, I highly recommend you do. With all the chapters he is showing immense strength in sharing his story that is so hard to tell, being vulnerable and telling it because he hopes it will help others and raise awareness. And here he is with another rendition of that story, now told through music with a fire beat and delivering a message of hope. A beautiful hero that the world needs ❤️🐰🕳️
I've lived with chronic pain for around 20 years. It really saps you of your energy. It's often all you can manage just to make it through a workday. When the day is over, there's no energy left for the things you really want to do. You have to lie in bed recuperating for hours at a time. I think that's the worst thing about it: how it diminishes your true self. When I was in my late teens and early 20s, before I started feeling sick, I played music and wrote novels and was wildly productive. I still do those things, but my capabilities are diminished. I'm often just surviving. The other difficult thing is how invisible it is. With other illnesses, there are visible, measurable symptoms. With chronic pain, most people don't even know there's anything wrong with you unless you tell them. And even then, they often don't believe you.
Loved your reaction! I have a genetic condition that is similar in a lot of ways to M.E. Many years after my suffering began I'm now diagnosed with a Primary Immunodeficiency, Lupus, and Myasthenia Gravis as it causes secondary illnesses to collect over a lifetime. I'm 38 but I was at my worst with no answers in my 20s and also moved back in with my parents for help. If they didn't wake me up every day and seek answers with me, I'd probably have slept until I died. Even now that we know what it is (two of my children have it as well and one died from it as a baby) I'm still occasionally told symptoms are in my head. Others praise me for enduring the suffering every day, as if I've had a choice. People like Ren help me and others like me keep going. He gives us hope for a future that we almost never get from our doctors. There is no cure for me. I will continually deteriorate overtime. But I believe the future will be better for my son because of awareness brought about by people like Ren. He won't suffer as I have. ❤️
Just as Su*cide felt so gut wrenching to hear Ren so raw and broken and For Joe picked up where it left off and felt like a sense of closure achieved through catharsis. The Chapters felt like an unburdening of the past with the same raw and gut wrenching feeling. Troubles is the ART that was born, much like Ren, out of the ashes of his time spent in hell and purgatory.
Many of us have or had struggles, especially with physical and mental health. I can only hope that Ren can recover to a better extent. Thankyou for sharing this, I really enjoy your channel.
Thanks for that review. As someone who has had chronic pain for 20 odd years, these chapters and this song really hit home. Chronic pain is exhausting but the world oftentimes doesn’t see it because I’m so used to it. I don’t take pills for the pain as I don’t like how I feel on them. I use cannabis and meditation to ease what I can. Stay positive folks. A good mindset does more wonders than you’d believe. Take care.
Ren is a genius and this track is so important. I also have suspected fibromyalgia and MCAS so relate a lot to Ren's journey. Thanks for your reaction to this 💜💜
Would love to see you react to Sam Tompkins new acoustic live video of his single "Numb", where he's on a boat, it's really brilliant in my opinon. I think you might like it.
I am thankful for his story! ❤ I have M.E. They told me i had fibromyalgia, too! REN told me to go get a second opinion. I'm friends with women friends from school. So I spoke to him, and after they did a bunch of blood tests, I was diagnosed with M.E. He's an absolutely amazing man! And now I know its M.E. month. He told me I am "MISSING" as in I fell through the cracks and have been living beneath the floorboards!
That’s why I love his music SO much. I love raw emotional music, I haven’t heard anything close to his music since the 90’s. I thought I had but not even close
After my stroke I don’t think I will ever sing again but seeing someone that was so sick continue to create from the emotional lava of it. Keeps me going xo 😘
My first doctor wouldn't really do much when i complained about pain. She retired and my new doctor did tests, i seen a rheumatologist and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Nothing was really working and thankfully my doctor listened to me when i brought up a drug they were studying to treat fibromyalgia. I'm not fully free of pain but my life has improved to where I can actually go to work every day. Hopefully things keep improving.
I really hope one day you'll react to Eve's voice. Yes, he doesn't do screams distoritions and growls, but his singing technique is also SO interesting. It's not a simple mixed voice, in my opinion. It's definitely something that would also make you want to learn. I haven't heard a single person that can use the same technique. His voice is interesting and unique even without much variety! He can sing beautifully, powerfully and really fast too which is so impressive. There's got to be an explanation to his voice. Maybe his vocal transition during puberty went to smooth that he never forgot about his head resonance. He can sing like that LIVE, I've got proof. His breath control is something ELSE. If you'd ever want to anylize his voice, I'd probably suggest a song Last Dance (and many others). His voice has changed over the years too, and his sound is getting more and more complicated to explain man.
This is 10000000000 percent truth that Ren speaks bc I live this everyday and it’s unbearable but I hang on after 30 yrs of suffering for Hope. My only hope is this exposure will bring a cure - Lyme and autoimmune warrior ( cancer survivor ) 🦠💚🦠💚
The band Casey their albums are about the mental state the singer is in. First album about love, second album about his health, third album about his current state

This song is remarkable! I heard that he bought the rights to the Vera Hall song. Not sure if that's true.
He paid what was required to get permission to use the sample as it was so important to him that it be the original 👍🏻😊
Yes, he has the rights to use her voice.

Take care.
Great reaction, Chris!😘❤️🩹✌️
Ren is a genius and this track is so important. I also have suspected fibromyalgia and MCAS so relate a lot to Ren's journey. Thanks for your reaction to this 💜💜
I love how you are first who mentions Moby and that sample.
This is a work of love. ❤
I live that you react to the singing but also the content, the writing, the lyrics, the craft.
Would love to see you react to Sam Tompkins new acoustic live video of his single "Numb", where he's on a boat, it's really brilliant in my opinon. I think you might like it.
Thank you for covering this. I relate to the song as well, so much. It makes me feel seen. He’s a gift. ❤
Thank you for your passion and understanding.💕👍🦇
Great reaction. Love him. Love you. 🥰 ❤
I’m sure he would trade it if he could, but he makes such beautiful art out of his pain❤
❤❤❤
That’s why I love his music SO much. I love raw emotional music, I haven’t heard anything close to his music since the 90’s. I thought I had but not even close
Everything started at 18,I’m now 67, wasn’t finally diagnosed until 2020! I feel your pain☮️ ❤️ 🏴
Such an important message!
Good job Chris🔥
After my stroke I don’t think I will ever sing again but seeing someone that was so sick continue to create from the emotional lava of it. Keeps me going xo 😘
great thoughts chris. love your passion for realness
Great video on a very pure piece of art - Ren’s stuff is always impressive but this was another level of connectivity
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Chris.
Thanks Chris, hope your condition has improved over time. ❤
Thank you for your thoughtful reaction ❤
Thanks for watching!
#millionsmissing there are so many of us who have gone missing from our lives because of ME/CFS #fundme
Ren is a beautiful gift to this world!!🌎 ❤❤❤
Yeah, I got that line about forgiving God. You go to a lot of dark places when you're chronically ill.
