After Himeko died everytime the came up in the story it was only in kianas head, she wasn’t actually there in Meteoric Salvation for example. But in everlasting flames, part of her consciousness was actually there. You don’t see that in the animation but this arc is where we saw and interacted with Himeko and said our farewell.
I now despise your twitch chat for making you skip the cutscenes. That was a such a scummy move from them. It's like the refused to pay attention to what the playlist is for and insisted on getting their way with no regard for anything else. The cutscenes are part of the experience same as the animations and are in no way any more spoilery. The whole argument is absurd.

The Animated shorts playlist is managed even worse than the PV one. It's not only in reverse order it also OUT of order. As much as I appreciate the Global team's work they NEED better YT management because the account is kind of a complete mess. Playlists incomplete and/or out of order. Animations that are not canon unmarker and confusing new people. The lack of any kind of subs (as little as it's needed) for Reburn. It's like they gave it to some intern and never checked to make sure they're doing the job and the intern got bored after a couple of days and just abandoned things unfinished.

the frog backpack baby kiana had on in graduation trip is actually from a very early honkai game that was on IOS an she used it to catch stars an try to fly to the moon .... there was an android game that was a side scroller as well that connected ALOT of the backstory in this game too.
Otto and Kallen story is so much more nuanced than most people give it credit for. It's puppy love that turns into idolation with a very harsh conflict of ideals in the middle. Otto feels like his actions killed the true saviour (he thinks Kallen was supposed to be the one) of the world. There's no romantic inclination in him by that point just his guilt of causing "saviour's death". It's kind of an extrapolation of "What if Jesus didn't resurect and Judas went on immortal quest of reviving him out of guilt" The writers of this game are insane with pulling stuff from all mythos.
THIS! I know I havent played it through so I dont know 100% of their story but at the same time based on what I can see I dont feel anything for Otto and his love with Kallen because its exactly as you pointed out. I honestly think if they explored Kallens side, she would have resented him for everything he did to bring her back

But if you ever play the game make sure you READ the text logs that appear in mission selects, because they are really good at explainig relevant information from outside sources

Instead I'll give some timeline dates and the D.O.B. that we know. First important dates. February 2014. Third Eruption. The timeline on HoYodex doesn't have an exact date so it's safe to assume one was not given. Regardless, based on that and the text in the opening cinematic stating - 2 years 5 months 16 days 02:34:24 after the 3rd Honkai Eruption. We can estimate that the game starts Anywhere between mid July and mid August 2016 depending on when exactly the third Eruption was. November 2016 - Chapters 3 through to 9 all fit in this one month as far as the timeline is telling me. I'd wager you could extend it to Early December but that would mean Kiana was possessed, and used to attack all her friends and kill her mentor near or ON her 18th birthday.
