Elysian Realm (SU qeuivalent) Changes selectable buffs every two weeks. You focus on one single character you are FUCKED in those modes. And you don't really play your roster in story mode for the most part. From Ch.5 to Ch.26 you are given Story/Trial characters and most of the time you don't even have options. From chapter 27 on you are given both - you can use the Trial ones if you don't have the character on your roster if yours isn't well built. Separate from that you mentioned earlier about how difficult the game is. Not very up to acc level 80. From 71 on you will notices things like resistances and typing start affecting you noticeable but it's easy enough to work through that and even brute force it if you have the right character. But if you 'Breakthrough' past lvl 80 - and it is a deliberate choice the game will ask you when you hit 80 but if you say no then you have to manually choose to do it later - you hit the real endgame. Resistances MATTER. Types MATTER. Environmental bonuses and debuffs are massive and MATTER. Immunities are more common - though will face your first boss with immunity in the first open world around acc level 17-20. I've seen people spend 15-20+ minutes on what should be a 2 minute fight. One streamer was so stubborn about it the ground out the fight for over half an hour. Don't do that. It's waste of time and proves nothing.
Just to clarify - you don't main anyone. You build teams. IT was fairly standard for Part 1 and 1.5 to build mono elemental teams as most combat put you against enemies that were weak against one or two elements and most supports where DMG element specific. There were a couple of Universal elemental supports but most of the time a support would buff a specific element (Fire, Ice, Lightning, Physical). Part 2 has gone out of it's way to make characters nto just viable for mixed team but most characters can work in both DPS and support roles as needed. There are currently Part 2 team comps that have a Phys DPS with Ice and Fire characters for support. There are comps where the DPS is elemental and the Phys character from the previous example is used as support. The meta does change at a decently fast pace but old meta is often very viable for a LONG time after it's 'officially' replaced.
