      Google employees don’t even trust Google at this point. They used to have a motto of “Do no evil” and they got rid if it because it was getting in the way. Who should Caesar trust, the knife in the chest or the knife in the back?

      @@MikeAbili "enemy" may be harsh. Maybe that will change. But it just feels like Google is being much more careful about rolling things out than OpenAI. Again, this is just my personal feeling about it. Google has gotten much better over time, but mainly because it has been held accountable in the past.

    One thing I'm surprised you didn't comment about Apple is that their whole has always been vertical integration, but now they are licensing OpenAI for use in their OS and Google is the one that has the vertical integration with Android and Gemini.

    Any vision based query is meant for glass. The use-case showed on phone and any or all use-cases were meant for the ML engineers or Data Scientists so they can find a use-case where it can be applied correctly. That’s why these are showed in a developer conference instead of a product launch day. That’s where I feel you are missing the point.

  • @wenscael2166
    @wenscael2166 15 днів тому +2

    I think Nilay's point about the record player answer is valid, but also kind of treats the situation as a void. We can assume the AI doesn't know anything about the user in this situation, so it has to just commit to *some* sort of level of detail for its explanation. So it commited to the point that the user knows what the counterbalance is. I think that's fine, because if the user doesn't know about it, they can just follow up with the question "what's the counterbalance?" and that just clears up the whole situation from every point of view.
    Also I've seen a lot of media run with the "they've made AI flirty" angle. It feels like it's being brought up as the main story rather than the fact that they're just showcasing how emotive it can be. Sure, they could've showcased it with something else, but my point is that it should be "AI can be emotive" as the main story and "they showcased it by it being flirty" as the substory and not the other way around.

    RE: The rabbit spreadsheet demo
    Totally agree that the use cases shown are often not really useful or at least not imaginative enough. A much better and definitely possible use case, I'd think, is showing the AI a whiteboard from a meeting where you've been writing ideas, dates, etc. and having it organize that info into a spreadsheet or other useful format. Or possibly showing it a receipt and having it automatically add the details to an ongoing spreadsheet.

  • @AIForHumansShow
    @AIForHumansShow 13 днів тому +1

    The hallucination part of this whole discussion is so well observed and yet, it seems likely fixable? But maybe it is like self-driving and it will just get closer and closer and never really get solved. If that is the case, these tools are going to be WAY less useful than promised.
    If you could fully trust what's available right now (say GPT-4 vanilla) it truly feels like it would kill any number of businesses but as it is, we seem to be a looooong ways away from that.
    Another great ep.

    I need my AI assistant to be so front! That being said; enabling Assistant to monitor all audio throughout the day, and commence recording extended telemetry data whenever specific words are detected (plus the addition of AI-assisted background noise removal, in order to isolate voices in loud environments like train stations) is exactly how my ARG-Evil-Pokemon-"Game"-app, aimed at business-people, is able to function so effectively. It's ridiculous how much real world, actual, genuine, information you can glean with selective enabling and disabling of Bluetooth radio while parsing gps data and using AI to comb for nearby posts on IG/FB/X etc.. to within 27metres of the phone, at this point I'm just typing for the sake of typing, and then Assistant will be able to tell you where to find apples.
