Bought one of these 3 weeks ago. Do around 60,000 km per year...much on road and much very rough bush driving. It handles both very well. Very happy with my purchase. Value for money in my book.

We did 3000km in WA at a cost of $100. It ran flawlessly. It hasn’t got a whole lot of power but it’s a Yaris. Storage in the boot was good enough. My only beef was that it would grade my driving.
Good review, thanks! I purchased one of these 6 weeks ago and still very happy with my decision. With all cars at this price point there is always some compromise to be made, so while narrow rear doors, old fashioned and cheapish seat materials, and some road noise when gunning that engine are downsides, the plus factors hugely outweigh this. They are, in my view, great fuel economy (unusually, this car is more economical around town than on the highway, and 90% of our driving of this car will be in town), a well sorted ride and handling, more low speed oomph than the figures would suggest, and a comprehensive safety system that is unbeaten in this class of vehicle. Others will have different priorities, but for me it’s great!
We are in the UK and aim to get the new Yaris Cross in 2022 for my wife. I’m a big Toyota fan had the original RAV4 permanent 4 WD. Then got RAV 4 FWD Hybrid with dual gearbox, great for going through floods and change down fast. Now got the latest model, love it but hardly driven due to Covid 19 lockdown. The energy a car uses as it gains speed is proportional to the square of its velocity (look up the formula for kinetic energy of a moving body), therefore as a car gets faster it takes more energy to gain additional speed not less as you said in your video. The example you give about the box is completely erroneous because in that case there is a large amount of static friction between the box and the floor, and a hard push is required to overcome this. Once it is overcome the dynamic friction is a lot less so the box will feel easier to push. There is not a lot of static friction with a car as it rolls on bearings. The effort required to get it moving is due to its mass only. And once moving it takes greater and greater energy to increase the speed. Look at the 0 to 50kph time for any car and then look at the 0 to 100kph time. The addition 50kph takes much longer than 2x the 0 to 50kph time. If your theory was correct it would take less. Thought this hideous colour combination reminded of something... did some labouring in the mid '90s and the bosses ute was a sky-blue XF Falcon Ute with a brown interior. Didn't think much of that colour combo then either!
But probably worth a million bucks today! 😅
I test drove this, really wishing they came with a more premium interior ie centre console, black interior option and a panoramic sunroof... just like the Adventure version europe gets.. why do we miss out?
Otherwise i really like the car. I'm almost tempted to hold out in hopes that we get a better version in the future
Have been waiting for Mini 4x4 since urban cruiser departed (a great little car). Interior style typical Toyota. Not going to provide a wow response, but at the end of the day Audi , BMW etc are mostly plastic anyway with a little decoration. Toyota give the 5 year warranty and minimum of trouble. Looking forward to trying it when it arrives in the UK.
Hi Phil, did you buy it at the end?
If, yes, can you say how's it!!
I heard that in uk it arrived this summer but really I just saw it only today online 😅😅
can’t wait for mine to arrive but the new one with the black leather seats etc
Can you get it with a spare tyre and a real handbrake?
Yaris cross ✅
Corolla cross ✅
I'm sure in near future there's gonna be a Camry Cross.. lol.
That front radar sensor looks like a buck teeth to me... Great now I can't unseen it!
Anyway, now on to the Model 3 review... 😁
They should have given this 4wd and badged it the RAV4.
Also it's an eCVT, it has gears
A great hybrid for 2022….👍🇬🇧
My wife wanted one of these but I managed to talk her out of it and purchase a Mazda cx30 instead much better car. Picking it up next week.
Congratulations to your wife mate
Difference between this and a CHR is?
I been watching your videos for all car comparison...but still i am wondering which car is best small suv...interms of money, longevity and reliability..any suggestions???
Coming from the GR Yaris, my initial expectations were for this to be a crossover version of it, so at first, I was quite excited to learn more about it. And then gradually the initial appeal got dampened as more underwhelming details began to emerge. Nowadays, Toyota is overly sacrificing driving pleasure at the altar of frugality.
"Nowadays, Toyota is overly sacrificing driving pleasure at the altar of frugality" 😅Sacrificing driving pleasure for frugality define the brand Toyota.
Except for the fact that the Yaris Cross is actually a pretty fun drive. You're making statements about a car you haven't even driven, duh. Rule#1: experience it for yourself - then, judge.
I agree , i want one but no centre armrest or rear AEB bad ommisions ! I can get a CX30 with all that for $35400 !
@@graemecouch5010If center armrests are your thing, then go for that CX30. Personally, I just like to drive a fricken car, not eat popcorn and watch a movie in it.
@@robinwatson4282 Pretty ***kin rude but you try driving for hours without one !
Does it have an emergency manual release for the fuel filler door?
Its a solid car but without the center arm rest its a bit of a turn off... Considering it costs literaly a few dollars for the maufacturer to install it as stock... And what a difference it makes...
Thanks for your review - you mentioned a 24 hour test drive - is that something dealers generally allow these days? im thinking of buying a Mazda 3 Astina Hatch in Manuel - are you aware of a 24 hour test drive with Mazda Dealers in Sydney?
Best to ask Manuel himself 😜
Thanks for the review! Just wondering does yaris cross have auto-parking systems?
Unfortunately not!
Is the Yaris engine a MAZDA engine?
Another wicked review, wouldn’t want to part ways with my hard earned 30 odd K for this tho...
Thanks for watching!
@@CarExpertAus love ur channel especially when you did the Holden VF2 back in 2017
Hey Paul awesome review really enjoyed it do you think you could do a review on the mg zst that would be great thanks
Thanks for watching! We'll see if we can get our hands on one. Next up will be the ZS EV.
@@CarExpertAus Hello Paul Maric. I know a Paul Maric.
We just collected 2021 CHR Orange Edition (2 litre Hybrid) here in UK a few weeks ago. Test drove the Yaris Hybrid before and didn't like it much.
We'd love to get that spec in Australia! We only get the 1.8-litre hybrid.
Toyota makes wired looking front end.
Volkswagen get nearly the same fuel consumption with just a normal motor, none of this hybrid tech needed
The VW figures are often pretty ambitious - Toyota's hybrid numbers are almost always bang on with normal driving.
Mine does 100km on 3.2 litres (74mpg). Can a VW of this size do the same?
In countries with low cost fuel and short distances, hybrid is not worth at all... Also harder to sell
Had difficulty in setting cruise control on my GXL 2021 model hybrid. Engine is noisy when accelerating up to higher speeds. Does not like bumps & humps on the road and small pot holes. Seat belt is difficult to get at when putting it on in the drivers seat. Instrument panel behind steering wheel is difficult to see when driving
Any chance you are doing a review on the 2021 Kia Stinger GT ?
We just had one through the garage but didn't get a chance to video it. Will see if we can get it in again.
Hard plastics everywhere - no thanks, I'll pass. Whole thing looks cheap.
Agree
Yes agreed , great running cars, but they let the brand down with their inferior insides on lesser models . My Avensis looks far superior .
Yeah, should be carbon...
When is the facelift due?
Bruh its only the 1st gen
@@parthvijaydhar4259 damn cause it's front end is ugly.
@@michaelflinn7784 it looks like a grandma car as the interior
I like this better than anything Toyota sells in the USA. The U.S. auto market sucks.
