Thank you for your video. I’ve done 1600 miles so far and the ride isn’t that bad at all. Can I ask you what PSI the tyres were when you made this video as mine were 3.3 bar all round when I picked my car up from the main dealer and that equates to 48psi so the ride was a little harsh. Since I’ve changed the psi to 2 bar (28 psi) at the rear and 2.2 bar (32psi) at the front as per Toyota spec for 18 inch wheels the ride quality is far better. The level of cabin noise you refer to is only apparent when the car in on a steep incline and even then it’s not that bad. I love the Yaris Cross it’s a fantastic B segment SUV and very good looking as well. I’m getting between 58 and 68 mpg fuel economy regularly and that’s a mixture of motorway driving and in town driving. This car is truly very economical.
This is the best review of the Yaris cross that I have seen. Thankyou for this, as I was thinking of getting one of these next year when I change the car...
i own the yaris design . it is the best car i have ever driven . people say it is too small . i am 19 stone and fit into it comfortably . just done a 350 mile north wales road trip . about £30 . roughly £40 to fill the tank . full tank equels about 450 miles . had it 2.5 years , 21 plate . never had a problem . getting the yaris cross excel next march . with city pack .
I have tested this car too. The most complete version. The weakest point is the engine. Starting 60 km/h and higher it makes noise during the acceleration. It must be a stronger engine for this car weight.
You don’t fuel up a Yaris Cross more than a “normal” car. Because it’s a hybrid it’s way more economical. Mine does 750 km and then takes 28 litres of fuel. And I never use ECO mode.
All hybrids have smaller fuel tanks because they consume less fuel. You won't need to stop for fuel as often in a hybrid therefore size is not an issue.
That’s true on the fuel tank size, but I still find I have to fill up far more often. If you take cars like these on a motorway you’ll be relying on the petrol engine.
I got a brand new 70 plate yards hybrid from Western Toyota at Newbridge near Edinburgh. After having it for less than 2 hours it was on the back of a recovery wagon going back as it broke down, like it did a further three times. It's your money and where you spend it is your choice. My advice don't buy from Western Toyota Newbridge.

so Many of the reviewers I watch bang on about CVT. I drive a rav 4 hybrid I have zero negative comments it is very smooth indeed changing gears If I was to accelerate very hard yes the engine would rev high, but I quite like the feedback from the engine noise vould i suggest you take time to watch WeberAuto or Petrol Ped, both on You tube, PetrolPed did an apology video to correct his earlier review. What is it with car reviewers in the UK when you talk about Apple Car play/Android Auto will be used to by pass the car's in built Sat Nav. Not in Devon & Cornwall you will not because Dartmoor, Exmoor & in depth Cornwall there is no phone signal. So unless you have a in built E- sim Apple Car play is bloody useless. That is why I hate it in the standard Yaris because there is no Sat Nav. Had to buy TomTom App downloaded to my phone. I sat in the cross yesterday & you are right, there is far too much Fisher price plastics. When you compare this car's ride quality to Ford Puma or Peugeot 2008 you are not comparing like with like. Neither of the later are full self charging Hybrids.
I averaged between 45 and 50mpg. Really very good, but the small tank does mean you’ll need to keep an eye on the fuel gauge if you head onto a motorway.
Well I'm sorry but I think you missed the point of this car completely. I road tested this car and it returned 64.8 mpg on mixed driving and btw What Car have it a their most economical car ever in their urban test where it achieved over 100mpg. The fact that it has a small fuel tank is because it only needs a small fuel tank. With petrol prices going through the roof this car will outsell the Ford Puma every day of the week. It's also nice to drive -you're wrong about the ride its slightly firm but not uncomfortable. It is also available with AWD which most SUVs can not offer. Only problem is guess what the order book is so long you have around 12 months wait to get one.
Toyota Hybrids are crap for economy. I had the Clio E-Tech on holiday in Italy earlier this year and was expecting it to be crap but it blew me away. Managed a real 80mpg over 5 days around lake garda and then driving it on the motorway all the way to Venice to drop off at the airport. 80mpg was from filling the tank method, not by looking at the computer.
It's great for when you can actually conveniently charge your car. I for one have no chance to charge at home or work, and I'm not gonna go park myself at the local supermarket for a few hours every day. So for someone like me, this is the next best thing.
For crying out loud, keep your hands on the s/wheel (especially at speed). Do you not realise what could happen if you were to get a blow out whilst without hands? Lacking safety and lacking professionalism!
I wish they would stop calling these CARS, "crossovers".... They are NOT "crossovers" anymore like the originals were, which had significant trunk space almost like an SUV. But these are normal-sized smaller CARS having MUCH smaller trunk space than normal cars of the past. Thus, there's no legit way to be calling these "crossovers".
Location Melbourne, fancied by all these vedios, went for a test drive today. Well… result shocked me… the whole bottom shakes terribly and once you release the accelerator(without pressing break) speed changed dramatically that it jerked. When I wanted to speed it up, the noise was not acceptable and speeding up was not smooth at all. Similar budget, I will go for other options…
It’s a shame the 9 inch HD cloud navigation system intermittently connects and disconnects by itself. I just can’t trust it. Toyota are aware of the problem since 2021 but they still haven’t sorted out the problem. Mean time Toyota are still selling faulty 9 inch and display with cloud navigation fault which displays as “No Connection”. This is happening all around the U.K. and is not restricted to one area. The cloud navigation system relies on 4G telephone system via Vodaphone system connected to Toyota. If you want to use apple car play or android auto then go ahead but this is costing the customer data, the cloud navigation is free and it should work. Toyota U.K. as customers to go to Main dealers but all they do is disconnect the small 12 volt battery and reconnect, this re-boots the cloud navigation system and the could navigation works for a few days and then “no connection” fault appears again. Toyota U.K. have no answer to this problem but are still selling cars with the cloud navigation system fitted.
Not a patch on a puma , viewed both the weekend , Toyota more expensive less things as standard , paying more for hybrid engine which is noisy And under powered
I would seriously think about buying the Yaris, or the New Honda fit crossover. If its a Toyota' ITS GOT TO BE GOOD! but the purchase depends on price, warrentees, comfort, etc. The PRUIS is larger, offers excellent over tho top fule milage. equal to the Yaris! 60mpg to 70 mpg if all the road conditions are oky. little wind, windows up, keep it around 45to 50 mph, and not in the winter! Very different. CVT gearbox usesa metal belt moving back and forth on conee shaped metal. Needs regular fluid changes or can give trouble. No good in higher power applications. Nissan having lots of trouble in higher power cars with these. eCVT in Toyota vehicles are very different. Uses a planetary gear set ti Split power between electric motors and petrol engine. No metal belt. All toothed gears. Has been refined over many years and now very, very reliable hence a lot of Prius cars doing very high mileages with no problems.
the yaris cross is not a cvt like you mean it.. theres no belt and toyota actually calls it eCVT. also you skipped over the fact that theres a little space in the armrest for your gas station card and receipts. quite poor review overall. you didnt brush up on the facts about the car at all. you just took it for a drive and called it a review
Notice how so many cars now have a spare wheel well but no spare wheel? And most reviewers overlook this failing, so penny-pinching manufacturers continue with the ommission.
Many of them do not have them. Two of my older Honda Civics did not have them, just repair kits for temporarily repairing a puncture - then you need a replacement tyre. Also, kits like that have a ‘shelf life’, and I once had to replace it on it’s annual service for that reason. I’ve got a Yaris, which does have a space saver spare, with limited speed when used. I have actually used that one, and had the original tyre repaired for £25 and still use it, so better value overall! Not all of them have spares, though.
Both cars suck. They have the same chassis as the Yaris/fiesta with different body parts. Just a nice trick from the car companies to make more profite of a car while spending only very few on them

Of course it’s better than the Ford……it’s a Toyota it won’t break down all the time.
Sad you forgot to mention the back doors open only 60 degrees.
What is the norm, maybe 70° to 75°? Not something I've had to consider before, but lots of reviews complain about the rear door opening.

Filling it up won’t be cheap ! Not with prices the way they are and this fuel tank is smaller than the one I have in my car now !
But probably the fuel consumption of this car in urban cycle is 50% of your actual car, while your fuel tank isn't twice as big. 😎
