With all that, baker puts up 240 yards and 1 TD at best. Been a browns seen it all. I also watch the coaches film. One other point that I didn't hear Kurt reference, was Baker's lack of "touch" on the ball. Now, before you jump down my throat...YES, Baker can throw with touch, and he HAS done so in the past. But, he still exhibits issues with this at time (usually while under pressure). The difference between great QBs and average or poor ones is their ability to make great throws under pressure. That means putting a soft touch on it when it's called for...and firing it in, when it's called for. Baker still has a problem putting too much on the ball at times. I do agree that professional receivers should be able to make these catches. But lets all be realistic here. We've all played catch with a football before. Some of us even played the game. And we all know that it is more difficult to catch a pass that is fired in at you than one that's not. So, if your QB is firing it into his receivers (when it's not a tight window through that calls for this), then he is increasing the difficulty level and making it harder on his receivers than it needs to be. So, instead of catching these at a 60 or 70% rate...the receivers are catching them at a 30 or 40% rate. It makes the receivers look bad...because most casual fans simply blame the receivers quoting their default script, "if you can get your hands on it you should be able to catch it...it's the receivers fault". They are not considering how difficult that pass was to receive because it was thrown with much greater velocity. It affects your ability to judge depth and it affects the timing. When you are used to a ball arriving from that distance in about 1.4 seconds...but it arrives in 1.1 second...you aren't ready for it because it arrived earlier than normal and caught you off guard. You, again, can say..."well he's a pro WR or TE...he should catch that". But that's not how the human brain works. Thank you Kurt. I was devastated when you guys lost to the Steelers in the Superbowl. Ive been saying all season that Baker is taking way to much heat for the rest of the team making errors. Receivers have been dropping passes all season, Njoku and Hooper especially. Without Joel out there the running game has really taken a hit too.
Truly eye-opening analysis. I attributed the ineffective offense and missed opportunities to Mayfield's physical condition, perhaps a foot injury hindering his throwing mechanics, in addition to his well-documented shoulder woes. As an aside, it gives me an idea why Chubb is not used more on 3rd down passing situations. Hunt may run more precise routes providing a more reliable target for the QB. Interesting.
Thank you! And this isn't even to mention that their #1 rushing offense, which had both of their star running backs healthy for the first time since I think week 3 only had 40 yards rushing. Or how on the final, potentially game winning drive where they went 4 and out, they had 2 dropped passes that would have been first downs. And that last part has happened multiple times on potentially have winning drives. I watch other teams and I see their receivers making amazing catches, getting wide open, and breaking tackles, and that just isn't happening for the Browns and especially isn't happening in clutch moments. They drop so many clutch passes.
I believed in Baker until this year, then he regressed, but now this is having me question everything again and keep researching this. I think it's a cumulative set of things--injured tackles, Baker's injuries, bad playcalling and tough opponents. It's not one particular thing.
I agree but right now I think a big percentage is due to the putrid play calling.. Route concepts are simple and repetitive.. Defenses are shutting them down with ease.. Browns have scored under 17 points 7 out of 12 games.. Stefanski isn't giving Baker a chance to shine.
I loved The Rams... there's no bigger Marshall Faulk fan than me. & I put you on the highest pedestal... after you told Mike Martz you wasn't going in the game when he was trying to pull Bulger... you said, "give him a chance" So I was very excited to see what you had to say. But no my friend, you didn't show every first half play. You didn't talk about the placement of some of those passes. You didn't talk about Baker throwing rockets to guys 4 to 5 yards away from him. & please, PLEASE talk about his pre-snap reads... in his 4th year.
Biggest issues for the BROWNS... is uniformity... there's never a game where the offense, defense and play calling are all elite at the same time. KC, LA, Cincy offense stepped up.. Defense kinda shifty. Against Arizona, New England, defense was a no show offense was a no show. Minn, offense was decent defense was good. So on and so forth.
Faxxxx man. Every game, every drive, every play, there is a different issue. Never really the same from week to week. Hopefully they can turn this thing around while there’s still time.
@@bradmichaels4302 I'm curious if we can still claim the north if we win out. We split Baltimore and Pittsburgh and sweep Cincinnati... I'm hoping green bay will rest Rogers and we win out thru the super bowl
Question: even if baker threw the dime to donovan peoples jones. Why didnt he take the open man with a blocker. I understand that the play is designed for DPJ, but why not take the open rout?
Excellent! Waaaaay more interesting than "Gosh Jim, it depends where they spot the ball!" insights👍 Would love to see the same analysis of Mahomes given the # of drops, half assed run routes AND a completely new O-line.
Thank you Kurt it's wonderful to listen to an educated person explain this in the simplest form for the common fan. I have been saying people were not on the same page. How does a coaching staff let Chubb keep moving up the field? I learned that in HS ball. Down on my Browns but not down on Baker. My feeling is he ends up with Sean Peyton. Alex Van Pelt brought up footwork the day he was hired that's 2 years ago. I'm asking you Kurt does a professional QB coach let a QB back out with the wrong foot? I would hope not. Congrats on your movie Kurt.
Hope you reply to this question, Kurt warner honestly how many nfl starting QB, would be playing with these 5 injurys he has, I personally think hes a very QB. But with these injurys I can see a huge drop off in his performance. Like your opinion, thanks
It's definitely Baker's fault for even playing in the game selfishly sabotaging your teammates chance at the playoffs when he knows he's too hurt to be in there
Wow!! Hall of Famer just took us to School! Dropped passes, elementary offensive schemes......most importantly Baker's pocket presence and foot mechanics have been trash as of late.....5 games left fellas!
Great analysis Kurt. I don't care enough anymore to watch a game a second time to see what went wrong but I did see a lot of dropped passes. Was it good defense? or just a lack of effort on our receivers? ( Jarvis Landry excluded)
Hey Kurt! How about a breakdown on Ben vs the ravens from yesterday? It’s his last home game vs the ravens ever! Might be cool to hear some detail on that
Kurt the throw to dpj. As a QB if you see Hooper and DN wide open do you take the throw to Hooper with a blocker and open grass for days, or do you do what Baker did?
People keep making excuses for Baker. He has had a bad year. He is not a top 10 quarter but drafted no 1. He has no outstanding physical strengths. He is okay..thats okay.
This what's blowing my mind. Why is he even throwing it to Chubb in the flat on this play? Jarvis is literally wide open in the slot to his right.. Baker doesn't even look his way.. y'all make to many excuses for things that are so obvious.
Sorry that play at the 4:50min mark is crazy. Who cares what they play was designed for and go to. Njoku woild have had a 1 on 1 with the FS. He could have scored or gotten closer than where they were at. I am a Browns fan. Baker's problem is he is a 1 read QB. He should have come off that Wr and gone to either TE going to the left.
I fully agree, listening to people who don't even understand how the game is played, complaining about Baker. I watched him hit his receivers in the hand's and they didn't catch the ball and after the loss, everyone is saying Baker lost the game. Thanks for standing up for real truth. Also, stefanski will make bad play calls and his game plan isn't good at all. I fill like the coach is a one trick pony like Joe woods, who never blitz when needed. Stefanski needs to be hurry up offense against good defensive teams, to keep their defense off balance and the coach will give the defense all kinds of time to rest and that also kills us.
You are a great person and I don’t respect many nfl people!!! But you do great things and I love it!!!!!! Keep giving back!!!!! I love this!!!!!💯🌎🌳👍🏻❤️⭐️☮️✊🌍🛠🍀🙏
Now at 11:30, you can se Baker doing better with his hips and feet. Personally he only looks comfortable when he's in PA. This coach has been great for Baker because Baker doesn't pump fake.
Sorry again at 13:34, he should've hit the slant and turned better so see that slant. If you change camera view to the rear TD, you will see he didn't turn his hips or feet well at all.
After playing 2 bad games in a row I thought Mayfield aside from the fumble and another pass not shown here that a db dropped I thought he played pretty well and was let down by his receivers.
I have never understood how in college his receivers caught everything and these last few years Browns receivers seem to drop crucial passes game after game Please enlighten me
@@lalitmetta8567 He had Mark Andrews and Hollywood Brown. Both a first and second round pick in the NFL draft and have killed it. Also, scheme in college makes a drastic change,
His receivers are wide open in college, so he has time to sit in pocket…in nfl, u don’t u have to throw them open and throw on passing windows with anticipation and he can’t do that. U put mayfield in Dallas with those amazing receivers and they’ll drop the balls or wouldn’t catch anything since mayfield will just miss them
@7:27 the guy underneath (Chubb?) would probably have been open for a decent gain had Baker been able to take the time and see it. As for the rest, there is good criticism of Mayfield. He has never been a 'touch' qb. He isn't the guy who can lob a ball in the back corner of the end zone for a receiver to run to. He's not gonna get it to you in stride most of the time. He's not usually gonna place the ball in the best place to catch it. But he does have decent reads and usually doesn't force it if it isn't there. A lot of what's going on is that receivers aren't open in the places Baker is looking. Can Baker get faster at his checkdowns and and progressions? Of course! But despite having a couple of really good players there, the line doesn't usually give him enough time to do so.

Thank you for bringing sanity to all of this...
You said against bmore defense didn’t show up? They had 4 turnovers lol.
@@bigdaddydubz ur right i didn't mean bmore
@@bigdaddydubz i meant to say how elite they were against bmore
Please show all of bakers second half plays, for every game. Especially the final drives where he has a chance to win the game.
It’s nice to see film broken down in a way I can understand.
Great Stuff Mr. Warner, any chance you can break down the 2nd half? Was it more of the same?
Yes! That would be very interesting
Question: even if baker threw the dime to donovan peoples jones. Why didnt he take the open man with a blocker. I understand that the play is designed for DPJ, but why not take the open rout?
Because Baker has trouble if his first read isn't open. He can't see the whole field.
Great Job Mr. Warner! I need to get the ALL 22
Excellent! Waaaaay more interesting than "Gosh Jim, it depends where they spot the ball!" insights👍
Would love to see the same analysis of Mahomes given the # of drops, half assed run routes AND a completely new O-line.
Any chance you're going to do the second half?
Coming from Quincy Carriers channel and after watching you directly got a like and subscribe. Great analysis! Greets from germany
He was the #1 overall pick in the 2018 draft. He needs to play like one. The blame may not solely be on Baker, but he needs to perform better.
Faaaaaaaaacts
Thank you fo the clarity. You never see the whole field while watching the game.
Can we see the second half. This is gold. By the way Quincy carrier sent me here.
This is the best UA-cam channel on the planet.
He is 100% correct because as a fan you knew after the first drop it and then missed the FG it was going to be a struggle all night.
And he still don't know what he's talking about 🙄
I thought the same exact thing when I saw Chubb run that sloppy route.
It's called practice!
@@abdulsmith1569 yep
Been anticipating this breakdown
Finally a HOF QB analysis of current QB's. Thanks.
Might be cool to hear some detail on that
Thank Kurt! Some people need to hear this!
Where do you find the wide angles of these games? I'd love to go back and watch film of some games but I don't know where to find these cuts
Very Detail Thanks Kurt !
Kurt the throw to dpj. As a QB if you see Hooper and DN wide open do you take the throw to Hooper with a blocker and open grass for days, or do you do what Baker did?
Great video. Thanks from Cleveland...
People keep making excuses for Baker. He has had a bad year. He is not a top 10 quarter but drafted no 1. He has no outstanding physical strengths. He is okay..thats okay.
Kurt you are spot on . Thanks for all you do.
Finally some Baker love 🦴🤎🧡🦴
Thanks Kurt I needed this
Baker is trash fanboy!
First time I have ever seen this . Great job. Just subscribed
Great analysis Kurt!
Thanks for breaking this down to me it looks like the plays are a little vanilla .Plus we don't have really any deep threats.
Honestly I blame this game on stafanski. Didn’t play to our strengths, bad play calling, and as always was to quiet
After playing 2 bad games in a row I thought Mayfield aside from the fumble and another pass not shown here that a db dropped I thought he played pretty well and was let down by his receivers.
Great video, finally now when I hear these comments from those who don’t know the game I can just send them this video!
I have never understood how in college his receivers caught everything and these last few years Browns receivers seem to drop crucial passes game after game
Please enlighten me
In college he had amazing receivers and since DB’s have the lowest rate of success the DB’s are usually pretty bad in college
@@lalitmetta8567 He had Mark Andrews and Hollywood Brown. Both a first and second round pick in the NFL draft and have killed it. Also, scheme in college makes a drastic change,
He had Jarvis, OBJ, Hooper and Njoku all solid but drop passes every week
@@lenke08 also ceedee lamb
His receivers are wide open in college, so he has time to sit in pocket…in nfl, u don’t u have to throw them open and throw on passing windows with anticipation and he can’t do that.
U put mayfield in Dallas with those amazing receivers and they’ll drop the balls or wouldn’t catch anything since mayfield will just miss them
Excellent analysis, and close to what I've been saying.
