Spinbad eventually became the DJ for either BBD or New Edition. I can’t remember which group but he was the DJ for them. Schoolly D and Kool G. Rap are the first gangster rappers period. Gangster rap started in the East in Philly. The west coast went harder with it but definitely didn't start it. I hate when they give the west coast credit with out going to the beginners. Hip Hop started in the 70's nobody in the south or west was around. Why and how the west gets credit for gangster rap is a joke. They came in in the late 80's early 90's.

Greatest Djs of my youth....Jazzy Jeff and Jam Master Jay. Funny How they both had 2 js in there name. I am from the south the DJ whose name was on all of the mixtapes that came to my city in the 80s was DJ RED ALERT. Those was the Days.
1989 January 1st, I had my Walkman playing as I proceeded to walk across the street to the store, I was hit by a car I had just got He’s The Dj I’m Rapper. This tape was playing in my Walkman at that specific point in time. I remember that whole album to this day.
