Jazzy Jeff was the one who taught me true cool street hip hop style Espically wearing a Starter Cap.😊 Now I have a closet full of 90's Starter Football jerseys and hats. Salute to the JJ for being a fashion icon in hip hop . Next to Kid N Play for me.

The greatest DJ ever.. He created the Transformer scratch
ronocordera that’s debatable. I’m from Philly & I remember being at a party at my high school which was Central High at Ogontz & Olney Ave. The year was either 1984 or 1985. Jazzy Jeff & DJ Cash Money were performing with their em cees. DJ Cash Money did the transformer scratch! The gym was packed! At first we all stood there like, “What the heck is he doing?” Then he kept doing it & we caught on & went off!! Everyone was screaming!! After he did it Jeff tried to do it but he couldn’t catch on at that very moment. I was there but Jazzy Jeff has probably the biggest name coming out of Philly for the deejays but he didn’t create it. The honest truth is it’s between DJ Cash Money & DJ Spinbad! Spinbad eventually became the DJ for either BBD or New Edition. I can’t remember which group but he was the DJ for them. Sorry for the long response but I wanted to give you the history about the transformer scratch. Big ups to Jazzy Jeff, DJ Cash Money from Yeadon, PA & DJ Spinbad from Philly & respect to you! Just wanted to set the record straight.

I'm from North Carolina and I stumbled upon "All The Ugly People Be Quiet " in a local record store. Marvelous, the MC of the group when he said "Cash tell the people what you're the king of..." and ole buddy ripped that "turntable-turn-turntable" I was hooked. Had the pleasure of seeing them live in Greensboro on a killer card one night as a kid with Big Daddy Kane and Kool Moe Dee and I think Salt & Pepa. You might be right. Can't quite remember the first time I heard a DJ transformer scratch...I'm thinking though that when I heard All the Ugly People Be Quiet I knew already what a Transformer scratch was but can't remember how I knew.

I remember when Jeff and Prince did the Zanzibar in Newark and 86". They turned it out!! Everybody was there. Heavy D, MC Shan, Salt N Pepa, Uptown Crew, Biz Markie, LL, Andre Harrell actually introduced Uptown records at that party. Which was for Mister Magic. DJ Jazzy and the Fresh Prince had a very good high energy performance.

Schoolly D and Kool G. Rap are the first gangster rappers period. Gangster rap started in the East in Philly. The west coast went harder with it but definitely didn't start it. I hate when they give the west coast credit with out going to the beginners. Hip Hop started in the 70's nobody in the south or west was around. Why and how the west gets credit for gangster rap is a joke. They came in in the late 80's early 90's.

I'm a home dj and lived through the years before hip-hop started and so this was a fun interview for me. I'm a huge fan of DJ Jazzy Jeff. I Loved the setup of the interview, much better than the past ones that I watched with all the interruptions. lol. all good though. I enjoyed those as well.
The addition of the two other DJ's, Craze and Eight-Track was a nice touch and went well. Also, Nore's closing comments was very cool.
Drink Champs I love what you guys are doing, keep the Legends coming I'm enjoying seeing all of my heroes I grow up listening to as a kid.
