Rest well Trugoy. Thank you for providing the music that shaped my early tween years!💯👑🫡
De la the kings 🙌🏾 rest in power trugoy the dove 🕊️
If anybody wonders how they have stayed together for so long, just pay attention to how much respect they give each other and how careful they are to not interrupt each other. They also immediately say excuse me to each other when ever they do interrupt. The mutual respect is really beautiful to see.
Exactly unheard of nowadays
De La Soul have longevity and it's rare for all groups! Trugoy and/or Pos could've went solo on their own if they wanted to, but they chose the group and the group is bigger than them!
That is an excellent observation. I agree that is so lovely to see.
Word.
I noticed in their songs actually. You can see the respect and celebrate one another.
De La Soul is the reason why I am an abstract thinker and an abstract teacher. I was always looked as different because I didn’t wear name brand clothes. I shopped at the Salvation Army, wore peace sign necklace and I had a red, black and green African emblem. I listened to 3 feet high on my Walkman. The memories….
They were great times.
That's dope. I agree. They where a hugh influence in my life.

Bravo !!! 👏👏👏💯💞😁
@@pockahantiss Yes! NORE even if he can't talk has The Best PODCAST! ✊🏿😁
Drink Champs is UNPARALLELED as a PODCAST!!
This interview hits differently now, coming back to it knowing that 1/3 of the group went back to the essence. Dave won’t get to be a physical part of the magic of March 3 when the catalog gets re-released.
Say what you want about NORE, but give him his flowers for using his platform to give others their flowers. There’s nobody better than Drink Champs when it comes to that.
Rest easy Plug 2 🕊️ 🔌

NORE GOOD FOLK, BAD LUCK, TOO MANY PEOPLE DIE SOON AS THEY HV INTERVIEWS,..
RIP YOGURT 🙏 🪦
The powers that be refuse to play fair . Keep the spotlight On , NORE !!! 💯💞💥
Maaaan say that. it hits diiiiifferent. cant believe my man is gone. man this was my late teens 20's. me and dave about same age.. crazy sad
Nore couldn't hide his admiration for De La Soul. This was a dope ass interview.
I had to come back here because MARCH 3RD, 2023 the De La Soul catalog will be available. It's bittersweet because Trugoy has ascended.
Your fight wasn't in vain Dave.
1 Love
Trugoy is resting eternally with the legends phife and dilla 🙏🏻
Don't forget MF DOOM..
N many others ..
@@nangaeboko6710 MF DOOM, DJ Subroc, Phife, Trugoy and Dilla definitely chopping it up together
May I suggest Heavy D? No doubt a legend.
@@jessegibson7734 very true and Trouble T Roy
My Heart Is So Broken. This Is Real Grief. Trugoy is gone. My inner 15 year old is hurt. I pray that you know Eternal Peace & Comfort. Peace Dave.
RIP Dave. You are sorely missed. This interview means so much more today.
Rest in Power Trugoy 🕊️ May God comfort the entire family. Native Tongue Forever. He'll be missed. From THE SOUL.
Posdonous = one of the most slept on MC's of all time
A real poet! Metaphors, similes and slant rhymes for hours!
I have Pos in my top ten... real talk. He always drops quotables.. ALWAYS.
@diggy dub If I had to narrow it down to just lyricism and memorable bars, he gets the nod from me. I get that he lacks the catalogue, hits, cultural impact, peer influence, etc to be considered an overall goat and with him being in a group, his output might need to be scaled proportionately against solo artists, but I think he's worthy of mention.
SUPER DUPER FACTS!!!!
Big facts, I was just thinking the same thing
"Stakes is High" is Top 10 all time
These dudes, ATCQ, Jungle Brothers, the whole Native Tongues collective was dope and are a often to ignored aspect of REAL HIP HOP!!!
My favorite clique

De La is one of my favorite groups of all time. I love these dudes, man!
Kdot Mart And they had they old school fashion and they their own language 😊😊.
They were DeLa Funny & Positive & Soulful, which is what is lacking today. RIP Plug2 ❤️✌️🌸
One of the most influental hip hop crews! Finally!
De La & Tribe are the true Kings of that era.... Respect to all legends from that era but they can't sell records and raise money and still make classic music in the steaming era like Tribe & De La. They're solidified legends like the Beatles or Rolling Stone. They transcended genres and will always have a wide audience.
Not the only true kings... KRS
@@dallasrahman3007 the streaming issue will be interesting for de la, they have a whole collection of “top songs” that have gained their own audience and then the real shit will come on and we’ll see what ends up on top.
Pos is so humble, intelligent, polite and respectful.
Absolute legend.
STAKES IS HIGH..................1 of thee dopest albums made......................i still remember bumpin that shit on cassette when it came out in high school......
De La was more than a Hip-Hop group we loved growing up,they were like family. Big brothers that raised us and taught how to tune into the hip-hop culture. I love these brothas.
De La Soul are legends indeed,March 3,2023 their streams will go up like crazy RIP Trugoy
Crazy is an Understatement! 💪🏽Island and the 🌎

Rest in paradise. My brother in Hip-Hop.
Damn! I didn’t even know that De La did a Drink Champs but I’m so glad that I found it. Plug-2 was ahead of his time in many ways. His lyrics, hairstyles and fashion. R.I.P.

Courtney A he’s got to get Shock G and Money B of digital underground on!
Yeah they started slipping for a minute. Young Dolph, Scrappy these dudes cool but we need the legends
Better start having young legends too, could a had nipsey instead of pleasure p smh🤦♂️🤬
@@sampsonsimpsonthasolja2612 pleasure p been in the game way longer then nipsey. Dont start saying legend cuz he died i hate when people do that
John MoyaSODMG 😂😂 no no I was only talking to my straight grown men out there who listen to rap since this is a rap show, but I don't judge, pleasure p is a legend to women and the LGBTQ community yes, I mean yaaassssss, but in all seriousness you guys have your definition of legends and we have ours
De La's 3 Feet High and Rising being added as the second rap LP to be added to the National Library of Congress' National Recording Registry is a reflection of just how profoundly monumental their contribution to hip hop, music in general
it was one of the first rap albums I bought .I'm a rock fan, but certain rap groups I equate to rock bands...de LA soul was one of them. you buy an album and cover to cover it was filled with great material. three feet high and rising was a genius album...
Was the other Public Enemy?
Thank you - Lil B
Oh my god based god... You can take my like based god

3 Feet High And Rising.....Plug Tunin!! Man that , Straight out The Jungle, Peoples Instinctive Travels my playlist thru freshman and sophomore year Paterson NJ...
Can you believe that was thirty years ago? I had just started working at the hospital and here I am thirty years later getting ready to retire. Amazing how fast the time went.
An example of a group that can still be in the same room and still got manners to apologize if they cut one another off. Dope af interview
Frank Johnson I caught that too .....Respect!
This is definitely what Drink Champs is for.
Talk about legends, these guys are the soundtrack of my 20s. Shouts to Nore EFN for bringing this to us. Respect
Damnnn..one tinnnny little sentence stated by Plug 2 (Trugoy) around the 50:00 mark (not _exactly_ sure of the time stamp but it's right around there), was so profound. Such a, seemingly, small sentiment that wasn't really acknowledged in the room. Talking about the difference between albums now versus albums from back in the day, "we _crafted_ albums back then". I think that is hugely meaningful and a _perfect_ description of the difference. "We make albums" vs. "we craft albums". Alone, "make" and "craft" are seemingly synonymous. But in the context of why albums, and music in general, was so much better back then? A world of difference; and quite literally, the _perfect_ way to describe it.
My man is just a few months older than me. This is humbling and just hard to accept. Condolences to Trugoy's family, bandmates and fans. R.I.P.🙏🏾🕊
Love DeLaSoul!! They never shied away from being from Strong island!! That 3 feet high and rising is Legendary!!
Itsoweezee, all time favorite, and all the rap artists in the video, priceless
Ghostface Killah said once in an interview, "If you don't know about De La Soul, you dont know nothin about hip hop . "

- Trugoy.
I grew up with the beastie boys, cypress hill and Wu-Tang, then when I found De La and A Tribe, I knew what music i was destined to listen to proper hip hop. Fast forward 10 years and I’m DJing them. De La and A Tribe changed my life… It’s still on high rotation. I would pay money to a go fund me to help them get what they deserve…. They changed my life and I can’t thank them enough. And my German mate Jens, he introduced me. Much love from Sydney Australia, please come and visit
Just curious of how you found beastie boys then skipped to cypress

I love you Dove..thank you for 1989 and the rest of your career you've givin us!
De La's music has aged like fine wine. It sounds better today than it ever did, even after so much else has fallen off.
Another great episode: 3 LEGENDS at once in one episode, wow!! De La Soul: too creative, too originals, in a league of their own, too advanced, way ahead of their time, never duplicated, smart, clean and well-manner! all in one package. Always calm cool and collected yet very powerful trio.
Glad trugoy got his flowers. RIP
