I remember being at a friends pool party in Delaware, and then Jazzy Jeff walked to the back yard. He actually lived next door. I told him I make beats and he was kind enough to show me his studio set up. Dope moment.
DJ Jazzy Jeff is blessed to be alive. Life is so precious. I'm happy to see he made it thru COVID. What an ordeal! He looks great and I love seeing interviews of people who played a big role in Hip Hop culture. Peace and blessings.

They put him on a respirator and he was in a coma for 7 weeks… experienced respiratory failure and they told us to make his final preparations…. And randomly he woke up and was fine… strangest thing ever…. Two year anniversary of that this week as well… im grateful

Jazz and Will Smith really made history. What is so dope to me is Jazz seems to have no envy or jealousy of his childhood friend. Jazz seems very comfortable in his own skin as a man.
Jeff is literally one of my favorite people in the world, and I mean that, I’ve been djing in Atlanta for over a decade now and he was always one of the main ppl I looked up to and watched videos to learn from (his Do Over Sunday Set in LA from years ago…WOW). Glad he’s on this platform, he’s such a humble down to earth guy despite being one of the coldest people ever to touch a pair of turntables, been consistently that way for years. Probably will go over peoples heads, but his love for the art and craft of djing and those that do it is unmatched. His humility in it is so apparent when he mentioned and big upped his friend DJ AM…who passed away over a decade ago unfortunately. Obviously Jeff’s admiration and respect for him still stands…even years after his passing. Just a snippet of Jeff’s humility with so many DJs over the years. This is one classy humble mature human being here who deserves all the flowers we can give him.
I remember hearing about Jeff being sick and on his death bed. I remember praying for him tirelessly...To watch him and hear him. We are truly seeing a miracle. I am grateful that he is still here, still on the turntables, dropping gems, and giving context and his perspectives on our culture and hip hop. He is a King in this thing. Salute my dude!
DJ Jazzy Jeff doesn't get the credit he deserves for being a Pioneer in the hip hop game. This man carried Will Smith to stardom. Back in the day it was all about Jazzy Jeff Fresh Prince was more like a sidekick. DJ Jazzy Jeff is a God. Single-handedly also changed the DJ game.
I cant stand when people say this😂The man defiantly gets his credit. When people talk about great DJs he is always in those conversations. He has been several interviews where he is getting his flowers. I think saying sounds good for the masses but he gets his credit!
Such a dope interview! I was born in 94 so the jazzy jeff and fresh prince era was a lil before my time, but i went back did my homework and that duo was a dope 🔥 i play summertime every time the weather change to nice weather
Also, make sure you go back and watch them 1st like,...3 seasons of 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' when he was on the show a lot, if you hadn't already checked 'em out. He was really funny on it.

I'm loving this show! So happy it was picked up for a second season, keep pushing cast!
@Doyle Cleverlobe ya man it was awesome. After they got done they just hung out with everyone. I’ve also seen tech9, nappy roots and ziggy Marley and the wailers in that same venue
@Doyle Cleverlobe that had to be an awesome place to grow up. And I believe you because I saw so many people asking him for pictures and autograph after the show and he just kept saying “of course, there is no me without you”. Guys like that seem to be more rare today in the entertainment industry
He was the DJ for Rakim in Atlanta in November of 2021. I’ve always been a fan but I never realized how Great of a DJ he is. Had us jamming all night. It was one of the best nights I’ve had in a long time ( Of course Rakim played a part in that as well)
DJ Jazzy Jeff has put into words that many of us never knew or thought to question about why the industry changed so much. It saddens me to see so many bands broke up because of the economy.Record labels were not honest with the artists so they work them up against each other.Music is as important as people need water.Much LOVE AND RESPECT DJ Jazzy Jeff.

I remember seeing Jazzy Jeff at Borgata in Atlantic City at the Mixx with him a Dougie Fresh. They tore it up that was about 12-13 years ago. That was like a $20 concert. I miss those days.
In a weird way I always think people slept on JJ. What to me makes him "Him", is that he's a music collector and a true fan. He's one of a select few I follow in the US - otherwise I'm always looking for Patrick Forge, Kev Beadle, Gilles Peterson, Jazzie B (you should recognize that one at least!), Paul Trouble Anderson & Gordon Mac. This is what pisses me off. The doctors told this man to go home and be still knowing he has pneumonia. A lot of us know now that if you lie still the fluid builds even more and that's why people ended up on ventilators and many people died while on those ventilators. Moving around as weak as you are will potentially save your life and give your strength. When you lie down in any situation you loose that strength.
I was so fatigued but said to myself i got to get up and move and i did holding the wall and all but i made myself move around and it does take strength
Absolute truth. When I caught covid, it took all of my strength. Everyone kept telling me to sleep it off, yet each time I did I got weaker. I forced myself to get out of bed, drank lots of liquids to help with the mucus build up, and basically sweated everything out. Nonetheless pacing yourself is still important. I didn't and a month later I was hospitalized after the same covid attacked my nervous system. Even in the hospital I got up and walked around my room with a walker. That was six months ago, and my body is still adjusting. I haven't got all of my strength back, and my immune system is still rebuilding itself, but I refuse to just lay down.

Jeff has always been ahead of his time. It was a pleasure putting an entire album together with him, even though my project never saw the light of day. Miss the camaraderie at the Philly studios - El Sid.
One of the greatest legends that still takes the time to develop talent and link like minded creatives with things like Playlist Retreat. Truly an honor to watch this.
This brotha is my mentor and I never met him. Everything that is being said in this video I agree with. I started Dj'ing in 1986 with 2 1210 technics. The European version. I was stationed at Incirlik AB Turkey and Jazzy, Mantronix, Cash Money, and others were my teachers. I collected vinyl and went to school. I love the craft and all involved. Technology has watered down the craft but like Jazzy says..."the truth always comes out!"
I've listened to "The Magnificent Jazzy Jeff" off the Rock The House album (1987!!! and I still have the cassette!!) a thousand times and I'm still amazed...He's been dope forever
I’m glad to see him alive and well. Pneumonia is actually an infection in your lungs. Depending on his oxygen saturation he should of been admitted with pneumonia in both lungs. He needed IV antibiotics, fluids, close monitoring, etc.
DJ Jazzy Jeff Has Always Been the Best All around DJ I’ve Known that Truly inspired me … I’m not Main stream but more so a So called Bedroom DJ and I’m in my 50s but I was the same way every dollar I would get I would run down to 11th and market in philly and get abt 100.00 dollars in albums and the really only reason I went to the clubs was to hear what was new or creative at the time for me to listen or learn from …. Him & Will use to record in my dad's basement back in the day. Jazzy Jeff hired my dad ( Butch aka William K Hall )as security in his office around Benjamin Franklin Park way in the 90's...

Envy can big him up and not necessarily Charelemagne. That is Envy opinion not Charelemagne🤷🏽♀️
@@oasisfullfilled7617 true but I mentioned petty cause Charlemagne’s petty used to have no chill
I am thankful Jazzy started streaming, I was finally able to get my wife to appreciate good turntablism. Forever the GOAT.
I could have listened to this interview for another two hours. Sooo much extra detail could have been explored with certain questions.
This is the most Ive ever heard Jazzy Jeff speak. Love it
He has a good drink champs interview also.
This was a GREAT interview! Thanks Jazz for being so genuine, relatable and down to earth!
I've listened to "The Magnificent Jazzy Jeff" off the Rock The House album (1987!!! and I still have the cassette!!) a thousand times and I'm still amazed...He's been dope forever
Great interview. Every married man that comes on here gives the highest praise to their wives. Take note!
This was insightful and refreshing 🙏🏾 Loved every minute: so many nuggets!
Evny’s problem is he’s thinking about his question and not listening. That’s why his questions are so far off… geesh!
Side Note: Let’s add him to Fine & 50 club too! He still looks amazing 😻
I’m glad to see him alive and well. Pneumonia is actually an infection in your lungs. Depending on his oxygen saturation he should of been admitted with pneumonia in both lungs. He needed IV antibiotics, fluids, close monitoring, etc.
thats so scary!
Agreed- they can treat pneumonia. The medical decision to not admit him for it sounds negligent.
@@silviadiaz1248 that's what they were doing to certain people 2 years ago. A lot of people were sent home to ride it out, and didn't make it.

So Glad he Made it through his struggle with COVID 🙏🏽
Respect to envy for mentioning flex even tho they have differences
Great interview, as a fellow DJ The Magnificent DJ Jazzy Jeff is most certainly on my Mount Rushmore... And he is a good hearted person...
👍🏿
Envy showed grown man maturity by publicly bigging up Flex even though they dislike each other
Uncle Phil throwing him out always cracks me up 😂😂
Me. Also. Super. Funny
Him & Will use to record in my dad's basement back in the day. Jazzy Jeff hired my dad ( Butch aka William K Hall )as security in his office around Benjamin Franklin Park way in the 90's...
This is great! I've never seen him do any interviews over the years.
