Thank you for actually explaining (teaching) things rather than just doing a "Look what I can do" video that only leaves one scratching their head and contemplating taking up crayon drawing rather than painting. I have "smashed" the "Like" button and have subscribed to your "channel/content/show" (whatever you call it). I look forward to watching every episode, past and future, and actually learning something useful.......and to some day not "suck" at painting! Thanks Again!
Thank you! I am not artistically inclined but I do want to try wet-on-wet. I’ve searched for very basic beginner instruction and found nothing until I happened upon your channel. You give me the confidence that even I can do it. I don’t have any supplies yet as I’m a bit short, but thanks to you I will give it a try. Maybe even make a little money from it. Thanks again, you new “friend”, Mike.
I just retired and wanted to start painting. I spent a few months watching video but finally came across to your tutorial for beginner. Thank you for showing us, beginner, how to start with all kinds of material and the first painting. Your inspiration will fill in my curiosity to really start painting. I appreciate a lot.
Mate, thank you so much. I've been watching lots of Bob Ross and Bill Alexander but no one has had the time to explain in as much detail as yourself. This video has been immensely helpful, thank you.
Just painted this for the first time. Just started painting 2 days ago. I’m so proud of how it turned out. Not perfect of course but I’m proud. Waiting to be approved on the Facebook page so I can show it off.
Thank you for the great video Brandon! I have been studying the Bob Ross technique, and my first painting turned out OK, my second painting turned out much better (I am proud of my second painting), however, my third and fourth paintings flopped. I realized that there was something I was missing. Bob Ross does an excellent job and produces some amazing paintings, but with the time constraints of the TV show, he doesn't really explain the technique fully. Even in the three hour workshop, there were some things missing. (No disrespect to Bob, he was one of my inspirations on many aspects, not just painting.) You have just filled in many of those gaps for me. Thank You!!!
Brandon: Loved your video! It was very detailed and great on technical advice. My 9-year-old son and I decided to try out wet-on-wet oil painting as an activity we can do together. We started by watching Bob Ross and bought a bunch of brushes, paints, Gesso, spent a week trying to figure out what "magic white" was. Most of what we bought was the wrong stuff because Bob Ross does not talk about product specifications. I found your video on UA-cam and am so glad because you are clear about what you really need to take up painting as a hobby. Bob Ross and Bill Alexander make it look easy during their video's painting "Happy Little Trees", and they make it sound so elementary, but they provide ZERO technical details! I guess they want you to take their art courses. Most people don't have money to spend on art lessons, and I appreciate you sharing your talent with others as it adds a lot of joy into people's lives. Thank you, Brandon!
Well done, Brandon! Good information for all levels. I enjoy returning to simple beginning lessons. There is always some new tidbit of information to be found! Thank you!😊😊🎨🎨
I was struggling with wet-on-wet technique until I found this video. I can't believe I was able to paint this beautiful piece in one night! Thank you so much.
TY Sooo much. I watched the BR videos and though they were great, when I tried I got frustrated because everything came out a mess. I learn better when I know WHY I need to do things a certain way, and you explained that great. I'm going to try and take up painting again.
WOW!!! I’ve been following Bob Ross (Who is still wonderful) but to have your techniques explained so well, to include paints, brushes and pallets is so stress relieving! i’ve ordered brushes and i want one of your pallets. Thank you for the length of your videos, it’s so helpful to hear tips and the technical ways of your method! Forget the complainers, it’s not hard to skip commercials, people need to stop being lazy, the instruction is priceless!!! I’m a big fan now!!
Love your paintings, I finally got a starter kit and painted my first 2 paintings! I had a lot of fun and can’t wait to paint more! You sure do make it look easy! Great work!!!
I want to say thank you! I went out and got all the stuff I needed to paint and nothing was working right.... Thanks to this Awesome video I know I had the wrong canvas , and wayyy to much paint. Now I will raid all your videos and learn more!! Thanks again!!
Hi Brandon, thanks for the video. I've watched literally 100's of Bob Ross videos. I done 2 paintings 2yrs ago on 'canvas board' I know it's not ideal but they came out pretty well. I've now got the bug again and I got some proper 100% cotton double primed canvas's. I'm not happy with it at all as I just couldn't do the mountain, I've realised I put too much liquid white on and was using too much paint to do the sky & water. Also my fan brush & 1in brush were just smudging. Looking at your technique and how to apply the least amount of paint & properly applying the liquid white has given me more confidence to go for it again. So thanks Brandon. I've subscribed and definitely will be checking more of your tutorials. Fingers crossed i'll nail my next painting lol
The whole video was great, but the last minute with the cattails and birds was so simple yet absolutely amazing. Definitely going to be using those moving forward!
Thanks for the wet on wet tutorial! Very informative. I followed and learned as I went along for the ride. One happy painter. It wasn’t bad for my 3rd time with oil.
Thank you so much, love your step by step lessons. Love your work, I’m ready to order some supplies and start painting. Thank you for sharing your time and talent with us newbies.
I am a little late to the party but I just did my first painting and it wasn't too terribly bad, but there were gaps in what I needed to do, questions I didn't have answers to. Thank you for this video, many of those answers have been filled. You have a great teaching technique as well as painting!
You just got a new subscriber, I have looked and looked for someone to teach me how to oil paints so I just tried to teach my self with UA-cam videos and what not. I got a student grade set from wall Mart and done a bob Ross picture in my own way tho. And for the past 3 days I've wondered why it was so chalky. I really love this video you have taught me everything. Today's my brithday and I asked for a mediums set even tho I had no idea how to use it, was gonna watch UA-cam vids tell I thought I could do it. And I asked for gesso cause I thought that's what you used to do wet on wet. Lmbo..thank you so so so so so much!!!
Great lessons! Learned a lot from them! I used to watch Bill and Bob but as we know they used to have limited amout of time to explain things but your tutorial is very full and sufficent. Also the quality of their old recordings distorted the colors of the paint and confused me a lot:( You started to walk the road they did, but improved it so much. Thank you for your lessons, keep up, we love you! Greetings from Russia!💛
Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom and talents with us. Love Bob Ross and Bill Alexander, but this video is so helpful in disclosing the requisite materials and supplies for making magic.
Really enjoy all your very informative videos and appreciate you sharing your experience & skills. Since I just starting out in wet-on-wet painting - I like that you have provided lots of tips for making it work. Your enthusiasm and mannerism are the best!. Good luck to you and your enterprise!
I am so pleased that i found your channel, i love your love for art and i love your paintings and i have learnt a lot from you thank you so much :} love from england stay safe
As a fellow artist I will have to say few things for the beginners that are important. If you want to learn how to make art you must learn to experiment, a technique may work for one may not work for another, not all supplies are universally liked, you may like one thing that another doesn’t. It’s ok to get frustrated, take a break and come back later. Practice, practice a lot. References or pictures or a certain thing are a huge help so get lots of em.
Brandon sos un Genio..realmente..arte puro lo tuyo..adivino..paso a paso..lo que haces..no entiendo tu idioma..soy Argentina...que bueno..si alguna vez..lo subtitularan Lo que vas haciendo.. Gracias Thomas ¡¡¡¡¡
Thanks for sharing many important tips and artists painting products and made of very keen and carefully , by keeping mind the problem faced by oil painting artist , about brushes with thik bristles and u shape fan brushes , nice work keep it up , I thing I want to tell u that I am struggling to find a same properties of hog bristles brushes , because I am a vegetarian and I am a Muslim so please guide me what kind of brushes I must use and if it's not available in the retail market then please think of making new product of brushes which will may used by artist like me , take care GOD bless you
OK I definitely like this dude he does remind me of Bill Alexander. Bob Ross painted happy little trees with happy little accidents Bill Alexander wielded the sword of ODEN!!!!!
I like this. I am a watercolorist and I was afraid of oil paint but always curious. Can you use the wet in wet technique in portrait painting with oil?
I enjoyed the video learned several things as I am thinking about trying painting. But one I do wish you had covered what happens to your painting if you don't varnish it.
*Hi Brandon* ... Have you ever done a painting of a place like the hilly arid countryside of *Mt Isa, Queensland Australia* I'd be very interested in how you'd represent those types of hills you find in the Isa region. Also, have you ever done a painting of Ayers Rock [ original name the govt gave it ] and is located in the Northern Territory of Australia. ? *Thanks Lee* :o)
Great informative video. I can't wait to get started!!! But am I missing something? Do we have a list of colors used in your painting that you did in the last part of the video?
Best art teacher I’ve found on here. Thank God for you
Been looking for EXACTLY this sort of video. Anyone who wants a good intro should watch this!
Thank you for actually explaining (teaching) things rather than just doing a "Look what I can do" video that only leaves one scratching their head and contemplating taking up crayon drawing rather than painting.

Thank you!
This is the best instructional video for a newbie to oil painting. Thank You for sharing and creating this video.
I like the way you explain the steps. Ordered your brushes. Tomorrow going to give it a shot.

My brain: "looks so easy"
My hands: "..........."
The canvas: "please kill me"
🤣
😂
This is so me... I WANT to, I can IMAGINE being able to... my hands and brain can't seem to connect and make it work
I feel ya Bro. Everytime I try and paint, that is SO what happens.

About 1-2 weeks.
