Everything syncs up with my iPad including health data, iMessage, music, podcast, etc.
Tried this with my son’s watch and couldn’t do basic things like sleep tracking, using UA-cam music, and more. Frustrating that the iPad can’t do everything the iPhone can with the watch.

Perhaps because they’ve shown us that it can - the watch already works with Macs (granted, in a VERY basic way) to auto-unlock from sleep, authorise software installs instead of typing a password, and even to Apple Pay for purchases. So wanting _(not expecting)_ just as ‘basic’ connectivity elsewhere isn’t totally outlandish. 😊
Consumer electronics companies need to make products that differentiate themselves from competitors. This insistence that they must also make their products compatible with competitor devices is ridiculous and does not make good business sense in many cases.
if you allow a paste programaticaly, you allow your browser to steal data out of browser context (or from another tab). password, credit card info, ...

The problem with needing a phone is an issue that all people with preteens are having... They want a way to communicate with their kids when they are not home but don't want to have to buy a phone to go with a watch. This is a problem for both apple watch and Android watches. Families want a way to get an LTE watch without the need for an additional device.

Thing is that aside from the Apple ecosystem integrations Apple Watch is a mediocre sports/health/fitness watch with relatively poor battery life compared to e.g. Fitbit and Garmin (the one exception being its superior ecg functionality). So honestly, I don't get being mad about not being able to pair Apple Watch to an Android.
Those who own one are okay with the perceived mediocrity, though. So even if not a selling point to go get one it can still be an additional reason to keep one for those that have ‘em, I guess.

Most manufacturers don't care to support any such "extra features" if they don't put certain USB versions on phones
have you tried displayport? my oneplus 7 pro running lineageos does screen mirroring with dp over usb flawlessly

On my iPhone I can see the battery level of my Apple Watch but not on my MacBook Air, I think that is strange.
Firefox has tons of Privacy Features. I'm all for using it but since i'm using a Pixel phone, Chrome works and syncs better.
Same with samsung watches as well. I cant pair my watch to tab s8+. Have to pair it first with s23 and then it syncs over the internet
