In this v4 motion chair upgrade I have replaced the 150w 'goflf cart' motors for Motion Control Products 90ZYT 199's with MCP2 60:1 reduction gearboxes.
Smooth, fast moves with big lean angles - all in VR for that extra immersion.

Good GOD Man.. That thing is awesome! DMAX
This is by far the coolest ive seen great work man. Keep it up
Thanks Oz oz. Keep checking the ED VR forum. I post my updates there (just posted a v5 prototype 6DOF sim I I'm working on - boy I'm excited about the v5 !!)
I'll hire you... please come to Norway asap!! :)
This is really awesome ! Great work !
I've a lot of questions btw, how do you connect the system to your PC ? USB with Arduinos or thing Like that ?
Is there a software you need to use to have orientation data?
What do you think about the durability of your system?
This. looks. awesome!
Hello Fella so I have a couple of questions
1. Do you get motion sickness or does it aid the VR
2. Can it be ported to other games ie driving
3. Can you advise on cost to build including your hours to design and make
4. How did it feel the first time you went backwards in the chair
It is really impressive and more people should see this
Hi Simon.
1. I don't get motion sickness - ever. You may have noticed the motorbikes in the background. I'm used to extreme and quick moves in RL thanks to those bikes (one is turbo'd and the other is supercharged - a bit like my ships really - lol). I was in VR for 2 years before I built v1 motion chair (in January this year). I feel I am qualified to say that a motion chair takes VR to the next level (and then some!)
2. I'm using joystick mode for ED (so can play any game needing a joystick or hotas). But I can port the chair directly to existing games/sims that already output motion data or if a plugin patch is available (no limits rollercoaster, assetto corsa, lots of flight sims etc). If FD output motion data then this chair would be really superb in ED (instead of just very good).
3. cost for v4 is circa £500. I've over 100 hrs in r and d though (I'm always refining stuff). If I had to build it again from scratch and I had all the parts to hand. I'd have it built in a week.
4. When you say 'backwards' I assume you mean pitch axis (tipping backwards). It feels so real your stomach tells you (a feeling I really like). Combined moves like pitch and yaw at the same time feels (and looks in hmd) so real. Pitching forwards is quite daunting as you do feel like you might fall out of the chair.
Good questions, thanks for asking
100% Cyberpunk
add a sub-pac for that bass - feel the engines!
Hi. I do already get some 'engine' feeling as the motors are usually in motion (even slight vibes when stationary. I will look at a home-made 'buttkicker-esque' addon in the future tho.
how do you connect it all up? I mean whats making the movement from the game/input/seat?
Matt McP I don't know but in theory if the controls are connected to the game you can play it just like that so wouldn't it just be a matter of connecting the controls to a motor... It made more sense in my head
Fkn awesome Kev m8.
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
You should add a seatbelt...
I like living on the wild side....
Which side of the room is that, and how often do you get flung there XD
Sell man. Start making, shipping and cashing!
