It’s so fun watching people experience this game for the first time. The plot is such a rollercoaster ride which is why I think it’s the Final Fantasy which would benefit the most from a remake. Imagine how exciting it would be if all this soap opera plot twists were fleshed out more.
squall having a mid life crisis as a 17 year old was an emotional tolls as a kid. the roller coaster plot that made you question everything because no one ever really explained it made his crisis hit hard. it was like everyone wanted him to figure it with the tinniest of breadcrumbs, all the adults were working against him in the most encouraging way, to a kid who didn't like himself and didn't trust others.
Hey I watched the whole stream to catch up. Am loving it so far - your reactions are basically the same as mine back when I played it for the first time. It’s crazy how relatable Squall is even after playing FF8 in 1999. I think Squall is the most human character in the FF series. Oh hey btw if it means anything to your play through - and no spoilers although it does change the outcome of Squall and Rinoa’s “date” - there is a way to have Rinoa react positively to the music you create in the FH Concert scene with the instruments you choose. Again no spoilers and it’s one of those “this event depends on your choices” things. If you care to know and check it out the “correct” instruments to choose are shown ahead. If you choose Guitar, Flute, Tap, Violin - this combination will give you a more positive outcome between Squall and Rinoa. The conversation is also longer too. The other combination - Sax, Piano, Bass, and Electric Guitar - creates Rinoa’s favorite song but ends in a negative outcome.

I’m not sure helps inform your decision on what to play or poll to play. I think a lot of people are like me. I don’t like watching someone play a new games that I haven’t played yet. It spoils the game so I won’t play it later. Or I am in a rush to complete the game so I can’t participate in chat. I don’t watch most of Asmond Gold, Maximillian Dood, or most game streamers for this reason. It’s fun watching someone play a game that I already played. It’s as close to re-experiencing a first play through as I can get. Also, I can listen while I work on other things since I know where you are in the story. While I voted for Final Fantasy, it’s more of a vote for older games in general.
This is exactly how I feel too. I didn't touch Maximillion Dood's playthrough of FF7 Remake or Rebirth until I'd finished them myself. It's definitely nice watching someone experience a game you like/love for the first time too.
The instruments play 2 different songs, 4 for the actual song and 4 for the folk-like kinda song Guitar, Violin, Tap, and Flute are Irish Folk Electric Guitar, Piano, Saxo and Bass are for the actual Songs (Eyes on me)
When card modding I usually leave one card of each so if I need a materials I can always check what card gives me what if I need to get more of that same card
I totally get you mate about your stream being your business and you can't play stuff that would be at odds with your existing audience/community. After you finish the Final Fantasy series, I dunno whether exploring other Square RPGs would be a good shout or maybe Kingdom Hearts (due to the Final Fantasy crossover)? There are other popular JRPG series too, Persona 5 may be worth a shout. I know that game has a massive fanbase that loves to watch people play it blind and as it's a turn-based RPG maybe some of your current community would support it too. I discovered you through FF7 Remake, so maybe Persona fans could similarly discover you. Best of luck mate, being a professional streamer is such hard work, not just the consistent streaming, but making sure the content appeals to your audience whilst also continuing to grow too.
