Buy nothing groups have been FANTASTIC, it’s great both to get items but also to get rid of items! I ended up connecting with a local mama in need with a boy a few months younger than my boy, so when I had clothes or gear we were ready to pass on it felt so great to pass them to her rather than donating them to a thrift store! Such great tips here, Megan!
I’m all about the Buy Nothing groups! We haven’t had a baby shower yet and I realized that if no one gave us a single gift we are *still* all ready to welcome our baby home!
The buy nothing FB group is so amazing! I’ve been able to get rid of so much but also find amazing baby product steals. Highly recommend! Thanks for sharing the tips Megan!
I'd almost say my favourite part about facebook groups is that it feels like giving and receiving to me. It feels kind of balanced? Like, I made some amazing finds but also, I feel great when I find someone who I can pass things on to myself. I really like it over donating it to a charity or the thrift store because it feels more real? It's an actual person who I know will get need out of my things rather than an anonymous charity where I have no idea if or who will ever use it again.
you are really good at vlogging and expanding on all of your information so we get a full understanding! we just found out we’re having a baby girl this year and your videos have been really informative so far. instant follow !!❤️ i can’t wait to show my girlfriend your page today
These are all really great tips! As a mom of 2 now, I would also suggest HAND ME DOWNS! We have saved easily thousands of dollars just from getting gently used clothes from friends or family (I’m talking trash bags full of various sizes and an array of multiple seasons)! Freebies pages on Facebook are great as well, especially if you’re near a military installation; people give away gently used baby gear, clothing, toys, etc., ALL THE TIME because of how often these families move around. We’ve rarely spent money on pretty much anything baby/toddler related now thanks to these groups and convenient “hook ups” 👏🏼 Amazon subscriptions for diapers and regularly used items like bath and diaper products are super convenient too (obviously you have to be careful with this though because it can be hit or miss with certain products for the price point). Great video Megan! You’re absolutely GLOWING 😊👏🏼
I love thrifting. We are super broke at the moment and I'm 17 weeks pregnant. I'm so thankful we've gotten basically everything we need for free so far. My mom has bought some things for us super cheap on facebook. (She may have spent a grand total of $100 so far and has gotten us a bassinet, a crib, a baby bath, a pack'n'play, a walker, and a bunch of just little things like brush set, pool float, spoon set, etc.) We've also gotten so many hand-me-down clothes I don't need to buy clothes for the baby until they're in size 2T. We were also given two strollers and two infant car seats from a facebook buy nothing page. I'm also doing a earn as you learn program at a pregnancy resource center here so I get "money" to spend in their shop. I've gotten a pretty big diaper and wipe stockpile from them, plus a changing pad, pillow covers, car seat accessories, maternity clothes, baby toys, a baby wrap, etc. The program goes through child raising so I can continue "buying" things from them for quite some time. Plus I'll be having a baby shower pretty soon. Who knows what I'll get at the baby shower, but so far I don't have to actually buy anything except baby proofing stuff, actual nursery items like sheets and curtains, post natal care stuff for me, and items for when baby is a bit bigger (like bigger car seats, bigger toys, bigger clothes, etc).
This is so helpful! Your budgeting videos, especially with Matt, are so informative. My husband and I are the same age as you and hoping to get pregnant sometime this year, but finances have been our only hold up. Thank you for taking the time to put this together, I took notes! :)
I’m so glad you’ve found them helpful! Also remember that a baby does need all the fancy stuff- just food, diapers, clothes, and a safe place to sleep 💛
You are glowing Megan love your dress. I am the same Megan I love to save money. I like to buy some used but a lot of new also. Can’t wait to see your baby bump grow. 💞💞💞💞
Yesss Quincy Mae has the cutest clothes! …but with the priciest tags 😫 finding these second-hand would make me feel like I hit the jackpot of thrifting 😂😊 And that dress looks stunning on you!
I got mine at Target, it's the Chicco NextFit Max ClearTex FR. I love it, it's super easy to put in and out of car, a button to adjust shoulder straps, no re-threading them, a button with 9 reclining positions, a level indicator, rear facing and forward facing, and it's chemical free.
My cousin got a Mockingbird & attachment from Good Buy Gear too- brilliant!
This was super informative. I am currently 25 weeks pregnant. Congrats!!
